MEET CHANCE: Chance is a beautiful 61lb 7 month old pup that has similarities to a Lab/American Bulldog mix. Chance is very affectionate, super smart, is a total people pleaser, great with kids, wants to play with all the dogs (but is a huge puppy, so he needs to learn puppy manners as he doesn't know his own size - he will lick all the dogs faces) and tries to play with cats even though the cat he is being fostered with is having no part of it. He has been fostered with a 4 year old girl and lets her lay all over him as he loves the snuggles. He enjoys long walks, but is also satisfied to come in and be a couch potato after he's had a good walk. He loves to sleep in his foster Mom's bed (he is a spooner). He's a medium energy dog, and needs some work on the leash. We recommend basic obedience classes to help him know how to approach dogs better, as he is so excited to meet every dog. He is housetrained, does not like the crate so his foster puts him in a bedroom when she leaves and he does great. He is not a chewer or destructive and is very happy to have been rescued from the High Kill shelter in MS, where he was to his final day on the urgent list when we pulled him. He would be a great family dog as he is the sweetest boy, and ideally would love to have kids in his life. Meet Lucas! Lucas is a 4-5 year old Pit mix who came to us after he was tethered outside and got his foot tangled in the chain after being spooked from a storm, and it was completely severed internally and facing the wrong direction. The family left him outside for two days after the incident with no medical care before someone put a plea out on Facebook for a rescue to help him. The family relinquished him to us, and we were able to get Lucas emergency surgery and his entire leg needed to be removed. Lucas is now in a loving foster home where his foster Mom says he is amazingly friendly and gentle, has done so well at huge parties and just lays under the table and watches everyone. He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids of all ages and his favorite thing in life is to go for walks. After being kept outside on a chain, he is enjoying interacting with everyone in this world around him and seeing all the sights. She says he's so smart, eager to please and a very quick learner. He is obedient and listens to the commands, "sit/lay down" comes when called and is working on "stay", as well as working on waiting for his food which he is doing very well with. She says their family feels very blessed to know Lucas and they cannot believe how well behaved he is. She wants his future family to promise to take him for walks as it brings him so much joy.
