Bandit is one of the sweetest, lovable dogs I have ever met. He has a wonderful temperament considering the pain he must be in. He deserves to be rescued and saved. Bandit had multiple sores all over his body including in between his toes. He didnt, strangely enough, have any on his head or down the middle of his back and butt. The sores looked like popped blisters. He did not overly bother them other than a little licking and occasional scratching. Bandit is currenly on a grain free diet and will need to have an owner that will stay on top of his skin issues. He was given an injection of cytopoint and it seemed to clear up all his sores. Whenver he gets up he stretches excessively like a cat. Maybe his skin feels tight? He is super mellow and low key, but that might be from his feet hurting when he runs and walks. Bandit has a playful side and loves his bed and toys. He can be possessive over his items, and steal other dog's toys and claim them as his own. He is not aggressive about these issues. He gets along well with a 12 year old border collie mix he is currently fostered with. He will let you take a toy from his mouth. He eats very well and is very cute about being pet. He will nudge you with his nose and make cute grunting noises. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on their shots and have a wellness check-up after they are adopted. Keep in mind that any dog in a new environment, regardless of training and age will need your attention in the potty training department during a transition. Notes from current foster: Herbert is a very sweet medium size dog that had a rough past. He is an absolute sweet boy that is house trained, does not destroy anything and has no separation anxiety. We started to foster this sweet boy, when we lost our second dog. He became completely attached to us and follows us everywhere. When we sit down, he jumps up and snuggles. His favorite activity is to look at you and when you make eye contact to give you a kiss. We are in total love with this boy. Unfortunately, he has two problems. Since he was neglected in his previous life, he started a terrible habit of attacking and biting his tail, when he can't cope with a situation. We were able to work with him and reduce it to the point that it is no longer a big issue. He still does it on occasion, but we learned to diffuse it. The other issue, which unfortunately we are not able to work with, is that he became very attached to us and as his attachment grew, he started to not get along with my other dog or our cats. Herbert needs a home that has no small children, is quiet, has no other animals and an owner that is experienced with dogs to be able to diffuse his tail attacking habit. If you fit the bill and can give Herbert this loving quiet home that he can flourish in, please reach out to us! Herbert needs Help and a forever home. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on their shots, heartworm tested, and have a wellness check-up prior to them being adopted.
