MUST READ BIO IN FULL BEFORE EMAILING OR INQUIRING ABOUT HIM. HE IS A SPECIAL NEEDS DOG.  Meet Bodhi. He is about 18 months old, Golden Retriever mix. He is a smaller dog, about 40 lbs.  He came from a hoarder situation where he was very neglected. Bodhi is looking for a relatively calm, patient home where he can know people are good and he will be a loved family member. He is fantastic with other dogs, he loves to play and chase!  Bodhi needs another confident, playful dog(s) in his new home to show him how to be a well-adjusted boy. Bodhi has shown a tendancy to be dominant, so a confident, friendly, but not pushy dog(s) is best. He will do best in a home with no children. Not that he would ever hurt a child, but they will stress him out. He has done well with house training in his foster home,  He likes his crate because it's his 'safe place' and is super sweet when he comes out of his shell. He is ok being left for about 4 hours max, then will need to interact, run and play. A stay-at-home/work-at-home situation will be best for him.  He will need work on a leash because he's likely never been walked on a leash. Bodhi needs a secure yard to run in. He gets the zoomies and will play and chase with his dog buddies until he's tired. He will require a secure 6ft fence and an owner that is gone no longer than 4-6hrs max.  **Please Note**  Bodhi will not be a plug-&-play dog. He will require patience because he doesn't really trust people. Please DO NOT apply if you have small children, live in an apartment or are gone 6+ hours any given day.  Bodhi will be well worth your time because he will blossom with love.  Apply at www.lolasrescue.com show less

A good Samaritan found out about Goldie living in a cemetery in a rather rough part of Huston, TX. Goldie gave birth to 9 puppies overnight in an open breezeway during a freeze.  The good Samaritan got a call that afternoon from the employees of the cemetery that they set up boxes and blankets to block the icy wind but one puppy was already hadn’t made it.  She raced out of work, picked up a kennel from RPM and went to pick them up. There was concern that as a stray and a new mom, Goldie wouldn’t allow the good Samaritan to gather her pups up. Instead, Goldie let this good Samaritan pet her and comfort her.  She had opened up her leg to practically ask her to take her puppies and help her.  She is so gentle, sweet and an amazing Mom.  Goldie’s rescuer stayed up all night making sure they were warm, fed and comfortable in my spare bedroom.  Of the nine puppies, only three could overcome the stress of being born outside in the freezing cold. The surviving pups are all pudgy and healthy, they look like little black and white teddy bears.  Goldie and her pups came to LOLA’s Rescue during the early stages of COVID-19 shutdowns and the real emergency of trying to find safe homes for dogs in shelters. Her puppies were 4 weeks old when they were transported to Colorado from Texas. We have a wonderful foster that can only sing Goldie’s praises as a mother and as an all-around good girl.  6ft fence is mandatory, she walks good on leash and is kennel trained. She would not do well in a home with small children that have access to inside outside as she may try and run out the door to be with her people. She's tested well with other dogs and children. Has a prey drive and will not do well with cats.  show less
