Hi I’m Kahn! I am a 3-year old 80lb bulldog/boxer/staffordshire terrier (per my DNA results). I came from a local county where I lived for 8 months in a barren kennel. I came to Halo to work on my manners and my foster mom fell in love with me and I fell in love with her. I have lived at Halo for over a year now and I have learned amazing things. I know all of my basic commands; I know how to walk very nicely on a leash; I socialize at all of the pet friendly stores, and I am a great travel companion to my foster mom. I am also a GREAT snuggle buddy and I NEED to sleep with you as close as I can. My foster mom feels that I would make an excellent companion for someone with PTSD or someone who needs an emotional support dog because I cannot get close enough to my person and I am the most loyal and loving dog! I currently live in a home with other dogs and cats. To be honest I don’t like it. I am not dog aggressive by no means but I wasn’t socialized as a pup and I’m not the best at reading dog body language so I take everything the wrong way. Because my foster mom saves so many dogs and we always have a new dog guest I get really agitated and cranky and try to start fights. I really need a quiet home with someone who stays home a lot and just wants a big boy who is a lover!! It will break my foster mom’s heart when I go, but she knows that I am not happy with all of the dogs and cats around. I will require someone who knows about my breed’s behavior (stubbornness). I will require a fenced in yard and older kids. No cats or other dogs please! show less

Meet Lucy Goose. She is an 8 year old Rottweiler x Siberian Husky mix (with a DNA test, too!) and sweet as can be. She was surrendered to us by her family after they realized they could no longer give her the love and care she needed. Severely overweight and unkempt, we knew we had to do something. We started her on a healthy diet, got her groomed, and checked out by our vet. Good news, Lucy is now within a healthy weight range after a 25 pound weight loss. She is generally healthy, spayed and up-to-date on all vaccines and preventatives. She does have a benign mass on her cheek that has not grown/changed in years, and is causing her no pain/issues, as confirmed by our vet. Lucy enjoys naps, being brushed and pet, and eating all the foods. When she isn't getting attention, she will paw at you to remind you she is there. She loves to snuggle, but respects your furniture and only comes up if invited. She is fully housebroken and crate trained. Lucy is a protector. She loves her family fiercely, and her job in the home is to receive snuggles and guard the front door. If you cannot find Lucy, just look for her spread out on the nearest hardwood or tile floor, her favorite place to nap (even over a nice, warm bed). All in all, she is a low maintenance dog who is looking for a furever home. Ideal situation would be ANY type of home, so long as she had a human to love her. It takes her awhile to warm up to other dogs, but she now loves her four foster fur siblings. She has not been around cats. If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please reach out. She is all smiles knowing her family is out there. show less

Shelly is a a sweet 8-year old spayed female Boxer/Hound mix. She was picked up by the county shelter as a stray and abandoned by her family. How? She had a microchip and after several attempts by the shelter and microchip company to reach the owners (phone and email), the shelter had no choice but to keep her. Shelly spent four long months in the shelter without any interest. She was shy, scared, and sad for obvious reasons. HALO rescued Shelly and once in her foster home, she showed signs that she had previously not treated all that well. She didn't want to lay on her soft bed, get up the furniture, and cowered if your voice was too loud or you moved too quickly. And her tail? Her tail would hang low or go between her legs. How could anyone mistreat this sweet baby? Her foster is working with Shelly to help build her confidence. Shelly is laid back and gets a case of the "zoomies" when she wants to play. Let's just say she gets super excited when you respond to her zoomie antics. She will entertain herself by playing with toys and looking out the backdoor. She does well with the cats and the other dogs in the house, and would prefer a quiet home. She LOVES to be petted and if you stop, she will lean up against you to let you know she isn't done yet. She walks well on a leash and she likes to go for car rides. She lets you know when she has to potty and has never had an accident. She is such a sweet senior who deserves to have a home of her own to live out the rest of her life. Meet her and find out for yourself! show less
