Madeline is an unsual colored tortie kitten born in May 2020. She was found in the Baltimore area during a rain storm - she had become trapped in a tub of water. When the person who found her brought her to the shelter, she was hyperthermic and nearly died. However, the staff were able to warm her up, and PAW quickly transfered her to a foster home where she could recover both physically and mentally from her ordeal. When Madeline first arrived at her foster mom's house, she was understandably very scared and cautious of everything, including other cats and people. However, in about 4 weeks, she's blossomed into a sweet kitten who loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters and enjoys petting sessions with her foster mom. She can sometimes still be startled by people moving too fast for her comfort level, however, she no longer hides and perfers to lounge the day away on a cat perch or curled up with a feline friend. Because of her tendancy to be startled, we are looking for a home without young children or dogs, and preferably, a home with another young cat to be her best friend. Madeline is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV/FELV. To learn more about Madeline, contact Heather at cat-coordinator@paw-rescue.org. Due to the COVID pandemic, we are doing meet and greets with our foster cats via Zoom, Facetime or other video conferencing platform. Since the adopter won't be able to meet them in person, PAW is honoring a 2 week trial adoption to ensure it's a good fit.   show less

Meet Ziggy!  Ziggy is 3 years old and weighs 45 lbs. Ziggy has lots of energy and would benefit from an active family.  Ziggy lives with 2 dogs, one bigger and one smaller, but he can be selective about his dog friends. Ziggy needs some work being comfortable walking on a leash and will need continued training. He gets anxious around dogs and people who are strangers to him and tends to bark and pull. An adult only home is preferred for Ziggy, although older teens may be okay. In an ideal world Ziggy would live in a house with a large back yard and tall privacy fence so he could run to his heart's content, however that is not a deal breaker as long as he gets plenty of exercise. Apartment/city living is not for Ziggy...it is too noisy/stressful and he will bark.   Despite not putting his best PAW forward when meeting new people, Ziggy truly is a great dog.  He bonds hard with people and he will be a very loyal best friend.  He is smart, house-trained, and adorably cute. Just wait until you see him carry around his blue and yellow monkey. Oh and did we mention the awesome kisses?!   To submit an adoption application go to:  https://www.petstablished.com/pets/public/256884 Come and meet our PAW dogs at one of our weekend adoption shows at local area pet stores. The shows run from 12 - 2 pm. Not all our dogs attend every show so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog send an email to info@paw-rescue.org before coming to the show to arrange a visit. PLEASE NOTE: We can adopt our animals to locations within one to two hours of the MD/DC/VA metropolitan area. show less
