Name: Beverly Suspected Breed(s): Calico/DSH Gender: Female Age: 3 years Weight: 9 lbs Personality: Friendly, sweet, affectionate, playful, easy going, vocal Observations with Dogs: Indiffernt to dogs, fostered in a home with a dog Observations with Cats: Good with male cats, does not care for female cats Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Cleveland County, NC Additional Information: Beverly is the definition of sweet. She was rescued while nursing her 5 kittens and there were 5 additional orphan kittens at the shelter that she adopted, taking care of all 10! She's now weaned them and is spayed, so no more kittens for this single mom. She's ready to live it up and get all the attention she deserves. Beverly is very chill, but she has bouts of play with her favorite hamburger toy, which she guards with her life and carries around the house. She can make a bed out of most anything and can often be found sleeping in or on shopping bags, purses, and duffle bags. Beverly is recovering from entropian (a condition where the eyelids turn in and scratch the eye) and she's had two surgies correct it and now she's ready to fly. Her eyes are open pain free for the first time in her life and she's excited to see the face of her adopter. Name: Casey Suspected Breed(s): Feist/Chihuahua mix Gender: Female Age: 4 years old Weight: 14 lbs Personality: Friendly, protective, affectionate, brave, adaptable, snuggler, energetic, goofy, trainable, eager to please Observations with Dogs: Good with the other dogs in her current foster home, but she is not playful with them, perhaps because they are so much bigger than her. Observations with Cats: Casey ignores the two cats in her current foster home. Observations with Kids: Not recommended House Training Progress: No accidents. Does well left uncrated. Not destructive. Crate Training Progress: Crates make me nervous, but I'm very good outside my crate and can be trusted to behave in my home. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Cleveland Co, NC Additional Information: I’m Casey and despite my petite size, (I don’t even come up to you knees with the tops of my ears!) I am super athletic and in a single bound can leap as high as your shoulders! Ready to learn more about me? I’m house trained, I don’t use my teeth to chew on furniture and I’m quiet if left alone in the house! I love to cuddle on the couch or go for long sniff walks. I adjust my energy to the level of the household. The trainer and my foster mom also say I am super smart and picked up on some complicated skills with ease and a bit of my own style - my tail helicopters when I’m in working mode! I like working for praise, treats and toys! Oh, and sometimes I get in trouble because I really like my toys. Like really, really, really, like them. Sometimes I am afraid someone might take them away and not give them back and sometimes I have impulse control issues and snap at my favorite people if I think someone is going to take something I love away from me. And maybe sometimes I guard my people, and my space too. I guess you could say I should not live with kids because I am not sure they would understand what happens when I get worked up and I might hurt them. I would do really great with an adult who has time to work with me and a trainer to understand my resource guarding. I would really, really, really like a home that might be excited to take me to a tricks class, or work on a game called flyball or agility with me! __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Suspected Breed(s): Pit bull mix Gender: Male Age: 6-8 years old* Weight: 52 lbs Personality: Friendly, Affectionate, Calm, Eager to please Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs. Needs some guidance with dog introductions. Observations with Cats: Shouldn’t be in a house with cats Observations with Kids: Adores kids! He is very affectionate with kids and loves to lick them. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Does well in crate. Also does well being loose in the house. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Columbus Co, NC Additional Information: Cisco had quite the journey from shelter to rescue. We rescued Cisco with a severe case of mange and advanced heartworm disease. He was in a high-kill rural shelter with little hope of getting out alive, let alone the love and care he deserved. Thanks to supporters and a welcoming foster, we were able to get Cisco to DC and on to the care he needed. Today Cisco is heartworm free, fully recovered from mange and has a clean bill of health from our vet! Cisco went from a neglected, hopeless boy, to a shiny coat, a pep in his step, and a glisten in his eye. Cisco's foster reports he's the best guest he's had to date. He is a very affectionate and loyal pup and truly blossoms in a caring and loving environment. Cisco loves attention but is also quite happy hanging out by himself. He adores staring out the window and truly thrives at the opportunity to go outside and explore. But, he also won’t pass up a chance to curl up with you on the couch. Cisco is an easy going pup who will bring so much joy to your life! *Cisco is available for our senior fee of $200 If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. She's not a typical lap cat, although she doesn't mind being petted (she prefers to be able to sniff your hand first and decide if she's into it right then), but she really likes to be wherever people are. Domino will sit beside you on the couch, perch on her scratching pole in the kitchen while you're cooking and will sit in an empty dining room chair during meals like she's another person at the table (she's always dressed for a formal occasion)! It's adorable. She'll consistently rub against your legs and follow you from room to room just to see what you're up to, and if she knows you're in a no-cat room, she'll meow outside the door to let you know she'd rather have you come hang out with her. In fact, it's rare that you'll have to ask “where's Domino?” because she's so likely to be in the same room you are. She plays mostly by herself with her toys, but she loves an audience and likes to play supermodel and pose for the paparazzi. Domino is a good eater; she particularly likes tuna flavor, but isn't picky. In short, if you're looking for a well behaved cutie who'll keep you company whenever you're home, you should make yours Domino's forever home! __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Age does not stop her from being an energetic, playful and friendly kitty, who loves to play with her brother Tad (also up for adoption) and her humans. She's also a confident lady who isn't shy about exploring the house and new toys. She has excellent bedside manners, too, and will soothe you to sleep with her purrs and gentle kneading. Doodle seems to thrive when surrounded by friendly faces, and would do well with a family with children (or adults who like playing like children, we don't judge) who can give her the exercise and attention she craves. She is also very attached to her brother, and although not required, would love to have a forever home that can keep them together. Doodle will charm you with her sweet silly spunky self, and we guarantee you will fall in love with her if only you give her a chance. __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Still working on introductions when on leash. Although Dottie has done well at daycare she has not done well at the dog park. Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats at the shelter but has not lived with cats Observations with Kids: Dottie loves everyone-kids and adults. She is an energetic, loving girl who would probably do best in a house with kids who are a bit older. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Dottie is not a fan of the crate and does not use it at her current foster home. She goes to daycare during the day and snuggles with her foster mom at night. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Dottie is a playful and rambunctious sweetheart. She is the most loyal dog out there and simply adores spending time with her people. Dottie would be a really great fit for an active adopter who wants a dog to take running, or has a yard to play fetch in. Her energetic spirit makes her a great playmate as well; she loves to play catch and fetch with a tennis ball or a toy (sometimes with you, and sometimes she plays solo!). Dottie is also a fabulous running partner and is always up for an adventure. But make no mistake, she loves the chance to relax and snuggle. She is also super smart and learns quickly. Dottie is gaining the confidence to stay home alone, so she would be a good fit for someone who can take her to daycare or who works from home. She is a sweet companion, and she would do very well in a home where her owners can consistently engage with her and show her love. Dottie also adores peanut butter! Dottie is a fun-loving girl who can’t wait to bring her bright spirit into your home. Dottie is sponsored by volunteer extraordinaire Barbara B. in honor of her birthday! We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less

Name: Dusty Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tabby Gender: Male Age: 2 years Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Friendly, sweet, affectionate Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Needs a proper introduction Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Dusty seems to have gone through some rough times as he is wary of new sounds and places. But he has no reservations when it comes to people. He absolutely loves people, he headbutts and chatters every morning and every evening when you see him. He loves to be near you, and I think he will eventually be a lap cat as he wants desperately to be as close as possible. He's just not too sure about being confined, even if it's on a warm lap. He will climb up on your lap but if you move to help him be more comfortable, he will get off and just lean on your leg. He's blossomed so much since coming to DC and he has endless love to give to people. He still eats like every meal will be his last meal and gets pets like every pet will be his last pet, and he will do best with a family that will help him build his confidence back, and reassure him that this time, it's forever. __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.
