Name: Alice Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tortie Gender: Female Age: 1-2 years Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Sweet, independent, friendly Observations with Dogs: Good with dogs Observations with Cats: Good with cats Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Alice was rescued from WV where she waited for months to be adopted. Thankfully she was able to become a City Kitty and begin a new life. She has a ton of personality and is as sweet as can be. Alice has a loud purr that will always let you know she’s happy. She also loves to be the little spoon to your big spoon, welcoming naps whenever you’re free. She’s a chatty girl with plenty to say. Napping on windowsills is one of her favorite pastimes as is playing with her other feline foster friends (or canine -- she likes dogs too!). She ADORES feather toys and will happily entertain herself for hours. Alice takes a little extra time to acclimate to new people and settings. But each day she will grow more and more comfortable and will eventually let you pick her up and put her on your lap for a quick snuggle session. Once she’s settled in, she’s very outgoing and brave. Alice would be a purrfect addition to any home. Apply for her today! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Copeland Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix Gender: Male Age: 1 year old Weight: 55 lbs Personality: quick learner, playful, funny, protective, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, energetic, snuggler, eager to please, good running partner Observations with Dogs: Copeland is anxious when meeting dogs on walks, so he would do better in a quiet, less dense neighborhood. Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats Observations with Kids: Good with kids House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Roane County, WV Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, energetic and loving young dog. He pounces on toys like a champ and is generally a goofy and happy pup. He wants to bring all of his joy to his adopter! He promises to be a good boy if you'll give him lots of treats to help him put on some weight. Copeland has already learned "let's go", "sit", "go to mat", "trade", "go get it", and he is working on "come". He would make a terrific companion for anyone with a house and yard in which he can feel secure and fully express his playful nature. This goofy young boy loves socializing and playing, and he learns new games and commands very quickly. Copeland loves to go running, but he is also great inside. When company is over – including kids – he will make friends instantly and be the life of the party. He loves the outdoors but feels anxious and is reactive to crowded or busy city streets, so a quiet suburban environment would be the best fit for him. Name: Dillinger Suspected Breed(s): DSH/Tabby Gender: Male Age: 5 years Weight: 9 lbs Personality: Affectionate, sweet, easygoing, curious Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Okay with cats after proper introduction Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Dillinger is a special guy who deserves a special family. He is sweet, affectionate, and low-key, but if he could write his life story we’re pretty sure it would be a page-turner. At some time in the past he suffered a spinal injury, but it’s not keeping him down. He climbs stairs and gets up on the bed just fine, but he walks with a wobble and would rather take it easy than get into mischief. Dilly can be a little shy at first and likes to approach you and rub against your legs or climb up for pets and cuddles once you’re sitting down. He has the sweetest small meow; sometimes it is even silent. Quiet and gentle, Dilly will thrive in a home where he can take life at his own pace and be appreciated for his warmth and wiggly charm. Personality: Funny, trainable, quiet, energetic, shy, gentle, eager to please, defense, snuggler, calm, easygoing, affectionate, protective, smart, loyal, friendly, playful Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs on and off leash, acting very playful. Dobby has a blast at day care and dog parks! He would do best in a home with another similar-sized dog (He is afraid of big dogs.) Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats Observations with Kids: Children’s sudden movements can upset him and make him anxious. For that reason he would do best in a home without children. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Dobby does not like the crate, but he is trusted to have free roam of the house.  Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Dobby is a sweet, caring and wonderful dog. He has the cutest habit of sitting on a stool so he can watch out the window as his people leave and return home. This fun boy is a loyal friend who loves to sit near (or on) his people and get belly rubs and ear scratches. Dobby is happy to sit near you quietly all day or go for a long walk, whatever you prefer. He’s also a huge fan of playing with his toys, and when playtime is over he drags them around the house as he lovingly follows his people around. He is a good learner, and he knows the command “leave it” and does very well with “drop it” if he isn’t feeling anxious. Dobby will do best in a home outside the city with another dog. Dobby's adopters will be very lucky indeed! We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV. Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
