About Sheldon

Meet Sheldon. He is a 2 yr old Harlequin dane who needs a very special family. Sheldon was mistreated and has some trust issues. He has completed a board and train situation with Todd Valentine in Virginia Beach.

At this time, Sheldon is adoptable to a family who is willing to be patient, understand that Sheldon is not always a social butterfly (with people) and will continue to work on his socialization. Sheldon is good with other dogs, NO CATS, he has been fine with the ...chickens in the training facility.

Sheldon has a heart of gold once he knows you. He can be with older kids who will respect his space and not force Sheldon to be affectionate. He does loves snuggles and attention, but he has to trust you. Food is the fastest way to this boy's heart. He will not be a dog that can be taken everywhere you go because of that, he needs a family that will work on that slowly and give Sheldon time to gain confidence and become an amazing boy.

Todd will work with the adopting family for a couple of sessions as part of the board and train. This will give the family the basics on what Sheldon needs and how to help him out of his shell. We have also received a generous offer for a donation to pay for 6 sessions (once a week) in home training with a local hampton roads trainer (we have the trainer in mind we are willing to pay for).

This boy is amazing, handsome, and so lovable. We are open to a foster to adopt situation as well.

Adoption Fee: $300

Dakota is a 6 yr old very sweet girl. She thinks she is a lap dog and will keep you laughing. Dakota does great with dogs, cats, chickens, kids, and people. She prefers you let her approach you first, but once she is comfortable with you, she will talk your ear off! She is a counter surfer. She can be left free roam in the house as long as she is not allowed in the kitchen. Our sweet girl has one small flaw, she is absolutely beyond terrified of the vet. She had to be sedated for blood draw and is not a fan of the vet's office. We did try an in home vet that could touch her and love on her, but as soon as any vet instruments came out, Dakota was scared and unruly. We do believe with positive reinforcement and trust, Dakota could be fine at the vet's office, she just needs someone who is willing to take her there often for visits and to get cookies from all her friends and be exposed to the vet instruments. Over time she would learn to trust them and not be so scared. Otherwise, she needs to be sedated for all vetting needs. Aside from the fear of the vet, Dakota will definitely make you smile, laugh, and love so hard that you just won't regret overlooking that one flaw to adopt her. Dakota is up to date on vaccinations and spayed. She is available for adoption and her adoption fee is $250. show less

Meet Gorgeous Gracie Mae! She is a 2 year old terrier mix. We do not know what she is mixed with but it sure is beautiful! Gracie came into rescue with her puppies and all of her puppies have found forever homes. But, poor Gorgeous Gracie is still looking for hers. She LOVES to snuggle and get affection. While she is amazing with kids, she also gets super protective of them. So, we think she would be best without young kids. Gracie needs a family that will be consistent and have clear boundaries. She is a great girl but boundaries teach her to wait and watch her people instead of guessing what she should do next. She is good with other dogs but can be reactive when first meeting. As soon as you correct her, she responds well. She does have interest in smaller animals, so another dog her size or bigger suits her better. Gracie loves to snuggle her foster brother and play with him. Gracie is also good off leash when taught her space boundaries. Gracie Mae just thrives with a calm family. She doesn't like to be forced to give attention (trust issues) but when she does trust you and love you, you cannot give her enough love. She just needs someone who can take a little time with her, show her she is safe, and teach her how to be confident. She responds so well with a calm assertive personality (meaning someone who is firm but calm and has patience). Most trainers have zero issues with her because they just have the prescense that Gracie appreciates. Give her a chance, you won't regret it. show less
