Calm, sweet, senior Kayla needs a forever home. 16 years young, adorable Kayla might just be the friendliest cat you'll ever meet. If she's awake, she's purring and looking for attention. She would make the perfect addition to any family. If you're a first time cat owner, let Kayla show you what the perfect cat is like!
Kayla was originally adopted from ACC in 2008, but was recently returned after her owner was evicted. Unlike most animals who end up in the shelter, Kayla has bounced right back. She is incredibly friendly and affectionate to everyone she meets. She plays gently and is used to living with children and other cats. Kayla also lived with many birds in the house, who spent time out of cage to fly around, and Kayla did not pay them any attention.
Kayla is well behaved and enjoys car rides. She has never had litterbox issues, except when her litterbox is not clean (then she will poop right next to the box, to remind you to empty it!) Kayla likes being brushed and isn't bothered when she is picked up and held, put into a carrier or disturbed while sleeping.
Kayla's former owners describe her as affectionate, mellow, independent and quiet. Her activity level is low and her owners loved how she waited at the door for them to come home and how she would wake them up each morning. Kayla loves to sleep, she will sleep anywhere in the house. She followed her owners around the house when they were home. She was kept indoors only and did not try to escape. She likes to eat dry Friskies food twice a day and she loves Temptations treats. Kayla uses a hooded litterbox with clumping litters. She used to use a scratching post to scratch on, but now prefers to use front door mat which is made of rough rope. She also loves to lay on bathroom mats.
Being an older lady, Kayla has a slight heart murmur but it is not a cause for concern. However, she did need to be groomed to have some matted fur removed, and on closer inspection we found poor Kayla had a bite wound. We believe it was given to her by the other cat in her previous home, but she is recovering well and is bothered by it at all.
