About the Dog: (Bio)

Moxie is a young female German Shepherd mix puppy approximately 7 months old. She weighs about 41 pounds and is not expected to get too much bigger.  She is spayed and micochipped.   She is fully vetted.

Moxie is as smart as she is beautiful.    She is crate trained and house trained.    She lets me know when she wants to go outside for a potty break.   Moxie loves to play with other friendly dogs her size.  She loves to do her play bow and play tag in the back yard around and around like a race track.   She is very well behaved and does not bark at the dogs on the other side of the fence.  She does not run at the fence line or body slam on the fence.   She does let me know if someone knocks on the door.   She has a great warning bark for people knocking on the door.  Moxie is an energetic dog that likes to play and she loves to go on walks around the block.  She walks nicely on a loose leash and does not pull on her leash.  She does not try to chase cats or squirrels.   She gets along with small dogs in her foster mom's home.  Moxie is a lovebug. She likes to lie down on the floor at my feet to be close to me. She likes to give kisses.   She loves children as well.   She takes correction well from me or her dog companions in the home. She is still a puppy so they are teaching her good manners.  Moxie is very fond of playing with all of the stuffed doggie toys. She has so much fun with them.  Moxie learns commands very quickly so she is easy to train.   Moxie would love to meet you!

Disclaimer: The information regarding this dogs temperament and health is fully disclosed to the best of our knowledge. Temperament of a dog can change in different and new environments with new people and pack members. These are the experiences we have had with the dog while living in a foster home. Medical needs can change although we have all our dogs completely vetted and thoroughly checked out by a veterinarian, and have treated all known medical issues, we do not guarantee the long term health of any dog.

About Val’s Pals: We are a non-profit organization that runs solely on monetary donations as well as donated time by volunteers. We do not have any type of a facility and all of our dogs live with foster families in their home. We, the volunteers have full time jobs and families and do rescue in our spare time, we try to move as quickly and efficiently as possible. Please keep this in mind and understand that we get multiple request and emails daily so please be patient with us, as many of us cannot get to these things until we are home from our regular day jobs.

Our dogs: Val’s Pals mainly focuses on German Shepherd Dogs and other large breed purebreds or mix breeds. We are dedicated to rescuing as many dogs as we can afford as well as have a foster home for. Many of our dogs come from high kill shelters, as well as strays, un-wanted, neglected and cruelty cases, our focus is to provide them with the proper medical care, socialization as well as love and care. The long term goal is to match them with the right family and home where they will continue to thrive and become loyal and loving members of the family.

Applying for a particular dog: You are welcome to list the dog(s) you are most interested in on your application, however if the placement team is already working with previously approved adopters with that particular dog, there is a chance by the time you are approved the dog could no longer be available for adoption. If this happens, the placement coordinator will work with you to meet other dogs in our program that might be a good fit, as well as being first in line once you are approved to meet any new dogs we get in.  We do not hold dogs.

Application Process: Applications take about 7 to 10 days to process. We are all volunteers, with full time jobs and families that are doing our very best so please be patient. Please make sure your application is completely filled out and your references are expecting our calls, if we have to play phone tag with your references it will slow down the application process.  If your application is approved, it will go to the home visit stage, after the home visit if approved to adopt, the placement team will then work with you to start meeting our dogs.

If you do not have time to go through the process of the application, please do not apply. We want to match you with the right dog and not just give you a dog that could be all wrong for your family and household, we hope that you will understand this process and work with us by providing as much information as possible to ensure we set you up to meet dogs that will meet your needs. WHILE GOING THOUGH THE APPLICATION AND ADOPTION PROCESS, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER, AS THIS IS WHERE THE MAJORITY OF OUR EMAILS WILL END UP.

Adoption Process: We require a minimum of three meetings with the dog you are interested in. You must be willing to drive to the foster family for the first meeting. We would like for you to really take the time to get to know the dog to make sure the dog is going to be a good addition to your family. We require that you purchase a large or extra large crate as well as an ID tag with your phone number on it. This is not optional. You will be working with the foster family on the adoption once you have started the meeting process. The foster family will determine if this is a good match since they know the dog the best.

Minimum Donation for Adoption: A minimum donation (adoption fee) is required for each adoption, you can find this information on our website. The minimum donation is not negotiable. Nine times out of ten, the dog has cost three times or more than the amount we are adopting it out for. We are a rescue being funded by donations and not a city run shelter where tax dollars are covering vetting cost.  Please do not email us and ask us how much our dogs are, this information can be found on our website.

Please Note: We do not bring dogs to meet you at request or call you upon request. We are an all-volunteer organization that is board run. The first step to meeting any of our dogs is to fill out the online adoption application.  Once your application is processed and if approved, we will be in touch to arrange for you to meet our dogs.
