About Nina

Nina of one of 3 siblings brought to our shelter (along with Bello and Gianni) - they are actually one of 7 siblings.....all black. All rescued by a Good Samaritan when they were younger, they arrived timid and shy, but have really come around.  Nina enjoys being with other cats and has been an indoor cat only.  She just needs someone who'll give her a little time to adjust - maybe even adopt one of her brothers.

Adoption Fee: $85

Baby was surrendered by her family as her elderly owner was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and wasn’t able to care for her. They tried rehoming her but weren’t happy with the possible prospects. We offered to take her in. Baby is about 4 years of age and loved her owner and slept with her owner so we hear she likes to hog the bed:) She has a very sweet personality and will make a great addition to any family/single person. She is an indoor kitty only. show less

Champ came to the shelter almost 2 years ago. He was just under 1 year of age at the time. As you can see by his pictures, he's a beautiful boy. We have never made any bones about it that Champ needs a committed and loving owner. He needs a owner/owners who will be his boss and commit to training. Initially I would have said he would be better off with no other dogs, but with a committed owner and patience he would probably do well with another dog (the right dog obviously.) Over time he has done well with other dogs at the shelter and when outside will even paw and clean/lick the dog in the adjacent run. In late 2016 we hired Steve Del Savio from Pack Leaders who works with Cesar Milan and we learned a lot and in turn Champ has learned a lot. Champ will be a friend for life, but he needs to know that his adopter is patient and committed. His original adopter was only 19 years old and should never have been allowed to adopt him....he was crated most of his first year of life, never neutered and left on his own 90% of the time, and his owner was way to young to know any better. He is a high energy dog. He would do ok with older kids, but probably shouldn’t be with younger kids. He needs someone who is truly committed, is experienced and will commit to the long haul. show less

Dasher was found running around Coates Drive in Goshen, NY. Has been friendly since day 1, but can be very nervous with new people. Should have an experienced dog owner. Loves people when he trusts them. Loves playing ball and going for walks, and again being with people but not knowing where he came from, needs an experienced owner. Is a larger dog, and needs someone who'll commit to training as he's a smart dog but needs a committed owner. Definitely worth taking the time to get to know. Was Heartworm positive when he first arrived, but is now negative. Not a fan of the Vet. Very affectionate and loving for the right person. show less

Ebon was part of a rescue from a hoarder - a total of 8 cats came into the shelter at that time 3 years ago. Ebon is the last left of his family, as all the others found homes. He's a lounger and enjoys his comfort. Ebon is a little shy, and just needs someone to give him time to adjust as he has been with us for awhile. Unfortunately Ebon was recently diagnosed with heart disease. He enjoys his time in our bay windows sunning himself and relaxing, however we would love a permanent home for him. Ebon is the last of the cats from this hoarding rescue. He needs a quiet environment and his adopter must be someone very, very special to even consider letting Ebon leave our shelter family. show less

Gianni came in with 2 siblings (Bello and Nina) from a local Good Samaritan who actually found 7 kittens. We took in 3 to date. They were quite scared when they came in, but have come a long way. Very beautiful, they all have very different personalities and just need a little time to acclimate to new surroundings. They have always been indoor cactus. Gianni was always a shy boy but now resides in our free roaming room and loves playing with toys and enjoys freedom. Beautiful boy and hoping for a forever home. show less

Hollys story is special. The OC Sheriff was acting on open warrants on her owners. On the 4th try of trying to arrest her owners one of the Sheriffs Deputies noticed a dog kept in the back corner of the yard......Holly. Emaciated, wet and cold, she called it in they called our Goshen DCO and asked for help. Our DCO wasn't sure what she was like so brought some food and treats....she was gentle and accepting and ready to accept help. She jumped in the truck and came to the shelter and it was love at first site for everyone, including Holly. We named her Holly as it was Christmas time. Holly was emaciated, and her nails were growing straight up in the air, and she had a collar on with spikes that weighed a couple pounds! She had open sores/wounds and we got her into the Vet first thing. She was half what she needed to weigh - what was amazing was that she didn't have a mean bone in her body. The neighbors said she'd been used as a fighting dog and was also used as a breeder...which was very evident. We were also told that other dogs on the property may have been buried on the property. Holly needs an experienced, loving, caring and committed owner. Holly can be in the ONLY dog in the home. Even though she has NEVER shown any aggression, we recommend no small children or animals. She is a protector. She loves walks, swimming, but not a great passenger in the car, so would need to be crated or restrained. Holly has a huge heart of gold, but needs the right environment and commitment. We LOVE her at the shelter and have spent a lot of time caring for her and letting her know she matters...... show less

Jackie Chan came in as a stray with her kitten Pearl. She was very shy when she first came to us, but she has come around. She is still a little shy, but with a patient owner she still has love to give....Maybe from a distance at first. She may also be a good barn cat, but if this was the case, she would need housing 365 days a year and food and water. She has definitely gotten used to being catered to. show less

Nakita was found as a stray in the village and was pretty scared. She is coming around now that she knows she has a bed, food and getting lots of attention. It was first thought she might be pregnant, however she is not. However, we now have 2 kittens that were brought in that may either be her offspring or younger siblings. Nakita is probably under a year of age. She enjoys belly rubs and is just learning to trust. Sweet girl who wants a family to call her own. show less

Scottie came to us with his buddie Mocha through dog control. We’re not 100% about where they came from and whether the story is true or not. They were scared, underweight and I’m sure wondering why they had been dumped. Scottie loves people and craves attention, but if you don’t hand him his bowl fast enough, he’ll just take it from you, so he needs a patient and loving owner. He needs someone who’ll let him know it’s ok to trust. These two can be adopted together or separately. show less

Seven was abandoned by her owners at a local apartment complex. The new tenant continued to feed her outside but when she moved was concerned no one would take care of her, so asked us to take her in. Poor Seven was covered in ticks and fleas. She has acclimated well to our free roaming room and making friends with the other cats. She is slow to make friends and trust, but remember she was abandoned so I'm sure she takes time to trust. Seven is a beautiful girl with beautiful green eyes. She should be an indoor cat. show less

Simpa has black and white markings and has a feisty personality. She will probably pick her owner. She definitely has some funny facial expressions. Came as a stray to the shelter. Might be better as an only kitty as she likes to be a little bossy at times, however having said that she does reside in our free roaming room. I think she likes to choose her friends. Likes to strut her stuff. show less

Spanky was found by a local resident and brought to the shelter. He wasn't happy when he first arrived and was pretty combative. However, after several weeks, he was literally eating treats out of our hands and became incredibly friendly and was everyone's best friend. He is a larger boy, and is really enjoying all the attention now. If you put treats down in front of him, he will look at you preferring you hold them so he can eat them from your hand. Guess he likes the royal treatment. He is an indoor kitty and will probably do well in most living situations. He was neutered when he came to us however no one claimed him sadly. show less

Squeak came to us from a PA rescue. He was dumped outside when his family moved and left outdoors for about 6 months. He is loving, friendly, a big cuddler and a big talker. We think he’s trying to tell us about his travels when he was outdoors. What we do know is that he is a lover and he needs a loving family. He is about 2 years of age. INCREDIBLE CAT!!! show less

Sweetie was surrendered by a family friend who got involved when the owners daughter was going to put Sweetie outside in the middle of the winter to fend for herself. Her owner had a stroke and the daughter was going to stick Sweetie outside. A friend got involved and was able to get Sweetie vaccinated, etc.... We then took her in. She is a very sweet and loving girl and like affection. She has beautiful coloring and eyes and will make a great addition to most families. show less
