About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

Savanna Breed: Rhodesian Ridegeback/Shepard mix Age: 2-1/2 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt 33 lbs / 25-1/2 inches Activity level: Average, moderate Relations: good dogs, kids/ likely ok with cats (rather afraid of them) Highlights: Good with kids, escape artist My mom & me were found outside a major city in the Middle East. It took a few hours, but they were finally able to capture both of us. Have to be quick and smart to avoid the government people who want to kill us and the people who think we are unclean trying to hurt us, so we had no idea our rescuers just wanted to help. Sadly, my mommy died of kidney failure. Our nutrition and stress levels here on the streets didn't help matters. I ended up getting distemper. Thankfully, I survived, even though I was quite weak. The doctors didn't think I would get over the severe mange I had either (check out the photo, ick.) But, after 9 months and the help of a specialty doctor, my skin is all cleared up. Now, many coat is full and nice. My jaw is a bit crooked (likely due to being beaten), but it functions normally. Also, due to my previous illness, I have not grown a lot. Makes me a really nice size for most people. I am still scared and am afraid of strangers, so will need someone who can introduce me slowly to friends, so I can learn I am safe. I can be a bit of an escape artist, so secure fencing is required if you have a yard. I am good with other dogs and children. I will likely be okay with cats too, as I am mostly scared when I see one. If you have one of those meowy things, you may have to make sure kitty doesn't pick on me. Ha. It would be nice to find a more laid back home where I can have the time needed to get comfortable with my new life. Another doggie would be fun to play with, but I am just as content if I am the only one. If we could go more relaxed, quieter places for walks in the beginning would be super too.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Hello from China! My name is Scrappy. I'm young dog 8 month with a great personality and a lot of love to give. I was found with my sister, Coeur, searching for scraps to eat in a construction site. We were in rough shape: four months old and skinny! We've really blossomed under the care of our rescuers. We are now fattened 8.5 kg up and healthy. Don't let my laid back demeanour in my photos fool you. Since I'm a young dog, I love to play, play, play - especially with other dogs. I like people too - but I am a bit shy with strangers. I'm so excited for the prospect of having a family of my own and going on adventures with them. Think of all the things I haven't had a chance to experience yet! It would be great to have a home with a yard and maybe even a doggy friend to play with and one who can help me adjust to life in Canada.  If you've got room in your home and in your heart for me, please click Adopt. It would be a dream from true. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $600.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada. Shugar (Sugar) Breed: Anatolian Shepard Age: 5-1/2 mo Gender: fe, will be spayed soon. Wgt/Hgt: 28-1/2 lbs / 18 inches Energy level: moderate Relations: good dogs, cats, kids Highlights: friendly, bit of separation anxiety, tripaw, likes playing As a baby of only 1 month old, my rescuer found me alone on a street in the Middle East. I had part of a leg missing. My rescuer rushed me to the vet office where he told her it was not a congenital defect, but that my lower leg had been cut off by someone. So, my rescuer took care of me for a couple months and now is paying for me to be in boarding, while I await my forever home. Sure hope it happens fast. I am so excited to get to Canada. I am gentle with everyone, cats (what are these meowy things anyway), kids, hey bring on the grandma. I love everyone. https://youtu.be/najA6cL_ZGU. I am great with other dogs too https://youtu.be/gaxu9h0Hz8U. Playing and eating are favorites of mine. Food motivated makes training much easier. I haven't lived in a home yet, so am not yet house trained, but that is quick to learn for my smart breed. One thing I don't like, is to be left alone. I will bark for a few minutes after you leave, but will then quiet down and stop. I really just want to be with you giving lovings and getting scratches and playing and cuddling and getting treats and... well, just being your buddy. I bet we could take some neat excursions walking around sniffing things. Ok, I'll sniff you, you watch. Oh, the 3 legged thing, I'm used to it now. I get around fine, so no worries. Maybe you can get me a prosthesis. There's still enough leg there to do so. Then watch out, I'll be running like the wind. Won't you bring me into your heart & home?   I will be spayed/neutered soon. I am *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Name: SPARKY, male Breed : Shepherd/Retriever mix Age/Weight: 10 weeks/ 9lb Location: Kuwait   Hello out there.  I am Sparky, the wonder-dog.  O.K, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but I hope to grow up to be a talented soccer player. Maybe I need to wait until I'm bigger than the soccer ball though! What's my story? Well, I was found in a really dangerous area where City workers routinely poison stray dogs. Luckily, when we were just a week old, me and my 8 siblings were rescued from the scary streets along with our amazing mama. Now we are all safe in foster care in Kuwait until we find our forever homes. Judging from the size of my momma, I'll probably end up being around 50lb once I'm all grown up.  My two sisters are smaller than me and a couple of my brothers the big boys of the pack. Of all of us though, I am the most affectionate. I just love to be held and cuddled by people. I also have a tail that never stops wagging.    Playing with my siblings is my second most favourite thing to do, (after being held and petted) and you'll often see me gently pawing at my dozing brothers to get the play time started.  They say I am particularly smart and that I'm likely to be a fairly high energy dog so I would do best in an acitve home with people who have some dog experience.     I am still to young to be neutered, but I have had my first puppy vaccinations and I am microchipped. My adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Name: Sparx (Shanty) Breed(s): Shih Tzu mix Age: 2 years Gender: M, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 13 lbs / 14 inches Relations: good with dogs / good with kids?, awaiting vids / unknown with cats Activity level: average Highlights: sweet, playful, nice, friendly Look at this moustache! Quite nice, huh? Well, it’s not just the ‘stache, I’m a pretty nice guy myself; just like my name, I’m full of light and sweetness. Here in the Middle East, there are a lot of nice yet busy people who travel a lot, and I used to live with one of them. We didn’t spend so much time together for that reason, but when we did, I would make sure my guy was full of love. You could say there were sparks of love all around every time. However, like I said, he was very busy, so he would go on business trips often and I had to stay with other people (usually nice ones) while he was out.  It did help, because I learned how to be with a bunch of different people, so now I have fun with whoever is around, including other nice dogs - https://youtu.be/p4Q31UE9tb4 and kids of all sizes and ages (vids coming.) I haven’t met any cats yet though, so I don’t know how they’d take my sparkling personality, nor if I would like them. Sadly, not everyone is that nice. There was this one time when I was left under my guy’s friend care and he didn’t do a very good job. I still don’t understand why, but the “friend” kicked me really hard on the back, and I ended up not being able to walk. When my guy came back from his trip, he was shocked and worried, so of course, he got me checked by the vet who said I needed a surgery. I’m a brave boy! I mean you don’t get a moustache like this by being a scaredy cat, do you? So I underwent the procedure and now I’m alright again. I can walk and run and play and be nice… I’m back on my game! I do have something of a wobble when I’m all into the walking, playing or running, but c’mon, that's nothing to scare someone like you, right? Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down. LOL. After that ugly moment, my guy decided to do the responsible thing for my sake. He took me to a shelter, and asked for the nice team there to find me a new forever home (outside the Middle East), where I could live surrounded by nice people who would experience, first row, the fireworks I light off every time my ‘stache and I enter the room. Just adopt me and you’ll see what I’m talking about! You won’t regret taking me home for good; I’m the perfect match for Canadian style. And choosing me means you’ll never spend a day in the dark again for I’ll always be there to light your way with sparks of love and sweetness and just overall niceness. I look forward to starting a new life over there and will be sure to bring lots of love and fun to my new nice home, so will I be seeing you soon, right?   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Hi, my name is Spot, I am a three year old male terrier mix. I am a little guy, I only weigh 17 pounds. I am told I am a cutie and would be a fantastic lap dog for any loving family. I LOVE love love to snuggle!  I am very curious about the world, and I will follow new people and dogs around just to get to know them. I enjoy making new friends, dogs and people. I have been housed with several other dogs and I got along with them very well. I will bond to my humans SUPER quick... so if you're looking for a new BFF, I'm right here! I am a distemper survivor, which has affected my teeth and my jaw. My teeth are still white but I have lost quite a few. I have a twich and "click" in my jaw (checkout my video), however it does not stop me in any way, and I am not in any pain. My jaw may click, but I'm still so darn cute! My only special need is that I only eat soft food, or hard food soaked in broth or water. Aside from soft food the only other thing I need is lots and lots of LOVE. You will fall in love with me in minutes, I guarantee! I have arrived in Canada so you could come and meet me any time you like! UPDATE: Since my arrival in Canada I have had 18 teeth removed because they had become rotten. Now I have a much easier time eating and am a much happier pup! I'm also house-trained now... bonus!! :) I have been neutered and vaccinated. (Mexican dogs do not come with microchips.) My adoption fee is $400.00 CAD   Looking for more furry friends? Hahaaa, full play mode... can't touch dis: https://youtu.be/Caa47cVo710. You'll find me quite the friendly fellow. When I was about a month old, my rescuer found me near a major city in the Middle East with injuries, especially to my leg. I stayed for 2 months under special care, but the nerves in my leg never recovered. The vet decided I would be better off not dealing with further problems, so he amputated my leg. Don't worry, I know how to get around just fine. My handicap doesn't stop me from having fun. I have been with my rescuer for 8 months now. I am so ready to find my always & forever home. You can see by the photos, I like kids just fine. Never had the opportunity to interact with kitties though. People are great though. Hoping we can find lots of fun things to do together. My personality will wow ya. I am a gentleman!  Hope to be coming your way soon.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. STARGAZER (Star) Breed: Beagle/Am Staffordshire Terrier Age: 6 yrs Gender: m, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 84 lbs / 29-1/2 inches Energy level: High to moderately high Relations: best as only dog / unknown kids & cats Highlights: loyal, friendly, lots of energy, would make great running or hiking buddy Region: Israel Ever look up into a starry, starry sky and wish you could touch that beauty. Well, you can touch this star. I am a noble looking boy. Don't let my size intimidate you, I am a big boy with an even bigger heart. I am friendly with people, especially people who give tummy rubs. I was rescued by the special forces from non-ideal conditions. The army here tried to train me, but due to my age, it was a bit late to be able to do what they needed. So they gave me to my rescuer to find me a loving home in Canada. Having lived in wide open spaces with the army, that is really what I need. I need the space to run around, as I have high energy levels. A ranch with acreage or a really big yard with people who maybe like to go hiking a lot. I am not opposed to crashing out on the couch and chillin' either though, as you can see in some of my photos With my keen observation skills, I would be good letting you know if someone comes sneaking around. I am a very loyal boy, who is also caring toward my people. Since I am more of a dominant type personality, I would need to be the only dog in the home. I have never been around cats or kids. I bet we could have fun doing something like scentwork. The Beagle nose in me probably would display good searching abilities. I'd love a home where we could maybe be running partners or travel around the mountains hiking. I am in good health and waiting for my new life. Can I be your shining star to light up your life?   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.  My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. For more information please contact:  Viktoriya  778-683-7831   viktoriyalukyanenko@gmail.com   Nigel: 778-891-9350 Name: Summit Weight: 90 pounds Age: 3 years old (approximately) Sex: Male Breed: German Shepherd   Hi there, my name is Summit! People often think that I am a show dog or a K9 officer, you can’t deny it -  I am doggone good lookin!   I was found on streets of California 9 months ago. I ended up in a high-kill shelter where I was going to be put down the day before I got rescued. The shelter had very limited information about me when I was found, but due to my weight, trimmed nails, and house-training, it was clear that I hadn’t been on the streets for long.   I was rescued by two very loving and patient people. I got attached to mom and dad very quickly and would spend evenings in their company watching TV, and following them everywhere they go. I also sleep next to the foot of their bed every night. Mom and Dad would also tell you that I am a very loving dog, I love giving kisses and I’m very generous when it comes to letting them give me belly rubs. When Dad gets up early for work, even though I’m half-asleep, I automatically roll onto my back and tuck my legs in so I,…I mean HE…, can get his morning fix.   So why I am looking for a new home you would ask? Unfortunately, I currently live in a one bedroom apartment in the Olympic village area. I really want to be an active dog and spend more time in nature but it’s too hard for me here since I get anxious and scared around other dogs (and cats too). I’ve been working really hard to overcome these fears and be less reactive towards other dogs, and I’ve definitely made some progress, but I still have a ways to go. As a result, even going outside for a quick bathroom break is super stressful; I just can’t wait to get back inside where I know it’s safe.   An ideal home for me would be a place with a big fenced-in back yard where I could play, sniff and not be scared all the time. It is my dream to run and play outside without being concerned and afraid that other dogs might show up. Mom and dad once took me to a place with a back yard and I loved it! Ideally my new home will be somewhere in suburbs, where I can have my own space, learn to play fetch, and maybe chase some squirrels. While mom and dad considered moving to a place with a backyard, they realized that it is not feasible for them. They think I am a very special, kind dog, with lots of personality. It is very difficult for them to give me away but they realize that it is in my best interests.  I would have to be the only dog in my new home. My ideal owner would be working from home or spending a lot of time around the house. I do not like being left alone. I need you to be patient and ideally have dog rescue experience. I promise to be loyal to you and give you all the love I have. Yours, Summit   Please contact Viktoriyalukyanenko@gmail.com 778-683-7831 show less

Is your heart rippling with the thought of a little Tadpole like me in your home. I am a little boy, just a little under 2 years old and I weigh 17-1/2 lbs, while standing 16 inches tall. I am quite a smart little guy. I was found in the middle of the woods chained to a tree in the middle east. I had been attacked by other animals and was emaciated. I was wounded and about to die.  It is possible I may be afraid of other dogs due to my experience or maybe not. Don't know at this point. Cats are not a creature I get along with. Although I have not shown any poor behavior with children, it is best not to be in a household with either kids or cats.  Likely due to either being attacked on that part of my body or being beaten, I am very sensitive around my back and rear end. Baths are not fun and have good luck giving me any meds - ha. Despite going through so much, I am extremely kind and loving. A bit self centered in that I want all the attention to myself. But, you are ready to do that anyway, right? I still need a bit more house training, but with my intelligence, I should learn quickly. Oh, one other thing... I love food. That should make training even easier. Nowhere to go is common here in the Middle East, as dogs are not treated well in this culture. My rescuer and her friend were able to get me from these people. I am now in boarding. I miss being with a family of my own. I can learn tricks too, if it pleases you. See how I can sit up pretty in one of my photos? I tend to be a pretty calm girl. Are you ready to bring me home, where we can snuggle and take leisurely walks together taking in the sights and smelling the flowers? I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $450.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Toonie (Targol) Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab Age: 2 yrs Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 44 lbs / 23-1/2 inches Energy level: moderate Relations: okay with dogs, cats / unknown kids Highlights: good leash walker, bit timid of men, affectionate, playful Hey, I picked myself a pretty neat Canadian name, eh? I have an amazing personality and the most adorable ears, 1 up & 1 flipped down. Me and my good friend Sorbet were found outside a Middle Eastern city when a rescuer was feeding dogs. Me and Sorbet were very supportive of one another. I think that is what has helped us to survive. Lucky me - I made it out of the danger zone and into Canada to live in a foster home while I wait for you to find me. I'm sharing my home with another dog, and I'm enjoying spending time with her. With proper & slow introductions, I can get along with another dog. https://youtu.be/SWYrOt3AIUQ. I am most comfortable meeting them when I'm not on leash. I'm gradually getting used to it though. I'm a good leash-walker, no pulling & I stay close. Oh, I am house trained. Big smile! I was initially a bit destructive when left alone & sometimes chewed things. Day 1 it was a base board & cable box cord. Day 2, they tried crating until I got along with my foster's dog & I really didn’t like that very much. I'm getting a lot better about relaxing now though. I just need some time to get accustomed to this new life. I tend to be a but timid of strangers, especially men. I do warm up pretty quickly, it just takes a few meetings for me to allow them to come near. I may react to squirrels & cats outside, but a cat is safe in the house with me (video soon)..I really haven't been around kids, so don't know much about how I'd do with the small people. My foster mom says I'm a very sweet and loving dog. I was a little timid when I first met her too, but now I am affectionate and playful. I even follow her  around everywhere. I also enjoy snoozing a lot. She likes to use the word great about me a lot. Now that's worth a Toonie or 2. If you're looking for a sweet-faced, loyal, young dog to share hikes and outings with, then I would love to apply for the role. Please come and meet me soon.   I have been spayed, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD.   Looking for more furry friends?
