About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. Please do not contact us, as we know nothing about the dog. This is a courtesy posting only. For more information, please contact the rescue person listed below. Thank you. For more information on or to set up a meet and greet with this dog, please email: Jerry at super645@yahoo.com. Available for adoption in South Central Alaska ONLY. Or anyone who can reach the area for a meet and greet. I'm Kiera. I was born August 8, 2013. I am a malamute and everyone who meets me tells me how pretty I am. I weigh about 75 lbs. I didn't have a very good home before I came to live where I am now.. The man wasn't very nice to me and he had to dogs who beat up on me all the time, so I don't get along with other dogs very well, because I am scared of being hurt again. So a one dog home is best. I don't know how I would do with a kitty. I like guys ok, especially the guy I live with, but I especially like women, and older kids. I like younger kids, but I can be over energetic with them and sometimes scare them or bump them over and I don't mean to. I am very well behaved, I have never had an accident in the house no matter how long I have to stay inside. I love treats and if you are eating something, it goes without saying that I should have some of that too. I like snuggling and I have a stuffed Tigger that I like to play with, if you get on the floor with me. I especially like car rides too and will wait patiently while you run into the store. It is not that my man doesn't like me, he loves me and I love him. But he had to move into an apartment and he wants to find a place where I can have more activity and explore in the woods or where ever. When we lived up on the mountain I would go with him on hikes all of the time. I have good recall when called back too. One issue I have is one of my eyes was damaged in a fight before my current owner got me. The vet said it has atrophied. So it is smaller than my good eye. It really hasn't changed much. I would say if anything it may need occasional cleaning to keep out any debris. The vet said it could stay like this or eventually shrink more needing removal at some point. I can probably see some light/shadows with it. I'm a very lovable dog to people, and I would make an excellent companion for someone or a family. I am a very loyal girl.   I am spayed and up to date on immunizations. There will be a small rehoming fee.   COURTESY POST This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. This is a courtesy posting only. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hi, sweet humans! I’m Milli and I’m searching for a forever home. Who am I? Well, I’m an adorable 3 year old mixed-lab pooch from Bahrain. I weigh a petite 44 pounds and stand 23 inches tall. My rescuers say that I am lovely and gentle. Bonus: I’m dog and cat friendly! Yup, you heard me correctly… bring on the furry friends! My story is a bit unknown. All my rescuers know is that I was a stray on the streets of Bahrain. They took me in when I was just a little pup and thank goodness they did! They have kept me safe and sound at the shelter ever since. It has been a few years now though and I reallyyyyy wish I had a home and a human to call my own. Check out my videos of me being friendly with kitty cats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzmMAvbhKl4&feature=youtu.be). Yup, I’m cool as a cucumber around cats! You can see that I wag my tail around both dogs and cats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYthIMXGXtI&feature=youtu.be). See? I’m a good girl and super friendly. What I REALLY love is humans though. Give me a nice ear scratch and a belly rub and I will literally become your BFF (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L11DKRZF00&feature=youtu.be). Ooooh I'm also pretty darn good on a leash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5cojkIcFi0&feature=youtu.be), okay... maybe I still have a bit of room for improvement (he he he). If you’re looking for a four-legged companion to love you endlessly, look no further! I am a moderately active, chill doggy who has a LOT of love to give (and deserves even more love in return!)  I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $500 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of the descriptions. Remember, every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person leading him and the environment. The age and breed of a dog is almost always an educated guess and at no time do we promise or guarantee the age or breed of a dog.    Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. This is a courtesy posting. Please do not contact us, as we know nothing about the dog. For more information, please contact ayaladia@ualberta.ca Pancha is a sweet, loving girl rescued and currently living in Mexico. She came to us after a life outside and after being neglected by her previous owner. She has adapted to an inside life quickly and is full of love to give. Pancha has some leash anxiety that she is currently working through: she is great with other dogs in her pack, but barks to other dogs in the street during walks. She would do best in a home with patient, breed savvy owners, that have the love and energy she needs to enjoy her new life indoors. Pancha is very food motivated and learns quickly. She needs some basic recall training. She sits happily for a cookie and to receive her meals. Pancha would be good with dog savvy kids, she grew up playing with kids in the streets of Mexico. She currently lives with two cats and she enjoys following the cats around, but has never been aggressive towards them. If you have experience and think this sweet girl would be a great addition to your family, please contact us. The adoption fees would cover part of Pancha's relocation costs, but vaccination, deworming and spay surgery (all which have been done) are on us!   If you are interested in Pancha, please email ayaladia@ualberta.ca show less

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. PIXAR (Poneh) Breed: Terrier (Airdale?)/German Shepard Age: 3 years Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: ~63 lbs / 24-1/2 inches Energy level: moderate to active Relations: good with dogs & kids / unknown cats Highlights: very social, loves to play, cuddler, curious Region: Middle East Attached at the hip... that's how close we will be. I am a very people oriented girl. Over here in the Middle East is where I was saved. It was very obvious when my resuers saw me for the first time, that I had an owner before. I did not know how to manage among the stray dogs. I was very often attacked by other dogs, since I was not familiar with living in a pack dynamic. I kept begging all the time to be taken home, and used to jump in cars of those who came to feed us. Sometimes I was so unhappy that my rescuers felt I was crying. I used to run after all cars passing by, in hope that a person would stay and take me home. One day my rescuers finally took me and 10 other dogs for sterilization surgery. I was very happy a person had finally come to take me. After my spaying, my rescuers did not have the heart to leave me where I had been anymore, so I was taken to a shelter, where I now await my forever home. It is in my nature to be gentle, whether with other dogs or people, that includes children. I haven't been around cats though to know how I would react to them. I am quite attached to human critters and I'm not shy, I will say hello to everyone I meet. I love to play and can be very curious. Cuddling is a favorite of mine. I do okay on a leash, but a bit more work on that would be good. My ideal home would be one that allows for meeting people as we go about our walk through life, lots of cuddling & some adventurous fun. Most of all, just being with you.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hi, are you out there? It's a little hard to tell from under all this hair, but hello anyway. My name is Shaggy - I bet you're wondering why !  I'm only 6 months old, 14lb and 14 inches tall and I'm probably a mix of Maltese and Tibetan Spaniel, judging by my mom's looks (she's the spaniel part).  Mom and I were found on the streets of Shanghai city; not a good place to be, believe me!  We were supposed to go to the shelter, but right now they are doing some construction there to try to make more space for hundreds of dogs, so instead we were brought to the manager's house. You'd think this was the shelter if you didn't know better - there has to be about 15 dogs here! Even though I like being around other dogs, I much prefer living with 15 than with 300, especially when one of them is my mom. You can see my mom in this video - she's the pretty little black dog under the chair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnT4eZd3U7o&feature=youtu.be There's really not a whole lot I can tell you about myself because I haven't been in the world very long, but I'm a happy little fella and I think I'd make a great family pet.  I'm hoping that you will be the human who gives me a home and teaches me about life.  I've heard that people in Canada and America like shaggy little dogs like me. I really hope that's true.  Guess I'll have to wait and see if you apply to adopt me.   I am neutered, vaccintated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $600 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Toblerone (Tobi) Breed: Chesapeake Bay Ret & Shepard Age: 4 yrs Gender: M, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 70 lbs / TBA Relations: Good w/ fe dogs / Unkn kids, cats Energy level: Moderate Highlights: highly intelligent, likes snuggling Region: Middle East Mmmmm, aren't I just scrumptious, like candy? Toblerone here. I am quite smart and just look at my luxurious brownish coat. My foot had been run over by a car when I was found. I lost a toe because of it. No worries, I have 15 others to help me walk. I have no trouble running and playing like everybody else. I am good with female dogs (no reactions), but can get into trouble bullying other males sometimes, as I will bare my teeth and growl. You know how us boys can be, trying to compete. I am currently in training & getting better though. Never been around kids or cats, so no knowledge of how I might get along with them. I will need some basic training, as I am not yet house trained. I really haven't much been in a house. But, my intelligence should lend to quick learning. I am a very kind dog and I can be playful, so I hope you will enjoy teaching me some games. Of course, I am not opposed to just snuggling either though. See my contented look and smiley face in the photos? Sure hope you are ready to bring me into your home soon. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hello kind hoomans! Tweety here, and boy do I have a story for you. Firstly, I’m a 2.5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab mixed pooch from the streets of Mexico. I’m a big, handsome boy; I’m 35 kg and stand about 45cm tall. Here’s my story: I was living on the streets as a stray pup when I was run over by a car. I was hurt badly and laid on the side of the road for 6 days before someone found me. Finally, someone scooped me up and took me to the dog pound, where I would have been euthanized had my amazing rescuer not stepped in. My angel of a rescuer took me to the vet and paid for the surgery to fix my injuries! The vet says that I have a good chance at a normal doggy life if I receive the proper care while I recover. I currently have some “wheels” that help me get around while my hind legs heal. The vet is optimistic that I will be able to walk again, however there are no guarantees. I may need some physiotherapy when I get to my forever home; maybe that would increase my chances of walking again! If not though, I’m still a happy boy to use my wheels. Unfortunately, my rescuer can no longer provide for me. Due to a lack of funds, my rescuer cannot afford my treatment. I am currently living in a dog shelter, however that is no place for a pup to recover from big surgery! I’m such a good boy and I so deserve a second chance at life; I just hope somebody decides to adopt me soon! I take a few medications every day to help with my recovery (Gabapentin, Vitamin B12). I will need to be on these medications for 6 to 9 months. After that, I should be good to go! I will need my adopter to be patient as I regain my strength. I’m sure with time, patience, yummy treats, and LOTS of love, I will regain my quality of life and will be such a happy boy! Now, about my awesome personality! I like walks (even with my wheels!) and LOVE to be loved. I am noble and trainable; however I do have some territorial issues with other dogs sometimes. I’m not a fan of kitty cats and prefer female dogs over male dogs. I would flourish in a single-dog home – what can I say, I just want all the attention! I promise to repay your single-doggy loyalty with loads of kisses and tail wags!   Check out my pictures & videos: Picture 1: My handsome face, hehe Picture 2: Me laying on the side of the road, six days after being hit by the car. Unable to move my back legs. Picture 3: Me in the Dog Pound, where I would have been euthanized. Pictures 4 & 5: Me awaiting surgery at the vet. Picture 6: Post-surgery! I'm getting stronger every day [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS1N0LIMB9U&feature=youtu.be] I know I may not be your “typical dog” because of my extra needs, but if you can find room in your heart to provide me a home, I would be forever grateful! We can be best buds, I’m sure of it!   I am neutered and vaccinated. My adoption fee of $350 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.
