About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

Look for the bare necessities... forget about your worries and your strife... I'm Baloo, a male German Shepard/Golden Retriever with a sprinkling of regional mideastern shepard mixed in.  I am just a sweet, snuggly bear, around a year old.  I currently weigh about 50 lbs. I stand 29-1/2 inches tall.  I was hit by a car on a rural mountain road in the Middle East and fell into an empty pool. I had broken bones and completely shattered my vertebrae. Due to the severe injury, it was the vet's opinion that I should be euthanized. However, my rescuers decided to pursue the medical options available. I went through extensive surgery and fortunately, I have recovered and started walking. https://youtu.be/HvRIG5loZxQ, https://youtu.be/dj65zowdQRs. See my progression https://youtu.be/wJXXc4KHF4g. Thanks to my early treatment I should do well now. I do have some mild skeletal issues, but they don't cause any significant impairments to my mobility, though you will notice a bit of a limp. You'll also notice that someone cut off my ears. Sadly, this happens to a lot of dogs in the Middle East. People can be cruel! I recently arrived in Canada and I am living in a foster home in Vancouver. My foster mom says I am a very sweet boy who is affectionate and funny. There is a playful side to me that is evident when I meet other dogs, though I would do best with dogs that don't play too rough, because of past injuries. A home with another gentle dog would be ideal.   I tend to be afraid of sticks and loud noises and am wary when I first meet strange males. But once I know you there's a ton of love in this cuddly bear.  A loving home where I can continue to heal and gain confidence is what I want most in the world. Please come and meet me soon. I am good with children https://youtu.be/eA2hqQsCitk.  And here is another video showing my improving mobility:  https://youtu.be/5kX7R6e-HSM.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $450.00 CAD.   Looking for more furry friends? Banoo (means Miss, Lady, Princess) Breed: Canaan Dog/Golden Retriever Age: 2 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/hgt: 66 lbs/ 21-3/4 inches Relations: Dogs good / cats & kids unknown Activity level: moderate Highlights: Senses people's moods well, enjoys closeness, good recall & on leash A government van in the Middle East had me. They were planning to kill me. Thankfully, my rescuer intervened and was somehow able to get me from them. I have been with my rescuer about 7 months now. I am very friendly and like being around my people. I tend to be sensitive to emotions, so it's like I understand your feelings. Although I haven't been around kids, I would probably do well with them too, as I enjoy closeness of people so much and I am a kind girl. I haven't been around cats though. Do you love walking or running even. I would make a great partner for you, if so. My energy level is pretty normal overall. I looove spending time with humans and want all the attention I can get - watch my silly video trying to get attention of the person watching TV. There is just one thing that does scare me though, that is thunder. So, maybe if there is a thunderstorm, you will need to play music, get me a thunder shirt or give me some anti-anxiety meds until it passes. My rescuer said she really can't see any faults in me. I know how to be on leash and when off leash, I come back with my name or with a whistle. She also says I am very, very smart. I won't bark unless there is some serious reason to do so. I also get along very, very well with other dogs. I enjoy playing and I will share my food and toys just fine. I like stuffie toys. I really want to please you and get your approval.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Banzi Breed: Husky mix Age: 5 months Gender: male / not yet neutered Wgt/Hgt:  35 lbs / 20 inches Energy Level: Moderately active to Active Relations: good with dogs / tolerant of cats / unknown kids Highlights: Quick Learner, Playful Are you in a rut? Looking to spice things up a bit? I might be just the ticket: My name is Banzi, a young, male, husky mix from the Middle East.  So how does a handsome boy like me find himself without a home? I was born in a puppy mill, and was kicked out onto the streets with my mother (the photo of the white dog with blue eyes), and my sister Bindi. To make matters worse, once we were abandoned, local dogs started to harass us. I was attacked by those dogs and sustained injuries to my throat and belly. As you can see, it has been a tough start to my life.  Despite all that I've been through, I'm a friendly, well-behaved boy. My foster parents have stated I get along well with the other dogs - pretty remarkable given all I have been through. I have completely healed from my injuries and am ready to move out of my foster home. I'm really looking forward to spending time with my own family. I'd be interested in doing training games and maybe even agility - I've got a sharp mind and lots of energy. Teaching me things would be pretty fun, don't you think? Hiking would be fun too! My ideal home is with an active family. I currently live with cats and tolerate them just fine. I haven't been exposed to kids. Just think of all the neat experiences that you could share with me!  So what you do think? Ready to go on adventures together?   I have not been spayed/neutered, as I am too young yet. I am *vaccinated & micro-chipped though.   My spay/neuter is mandatory for my adoption to be finalized. Name/gender/breed:  BEANIE/male/saluki-whippet mix Location: India Age/weight: 2 years/39lb Relations: good with dogs and kids/cats unknown Hilights: people-loving, playful, energetic, smart   Hi there,  are you the person I've been waiting for all my life? I'm hoping from the tip of my tail to my little pink nose that you are the one who is going to adopt me.  If you're looking for the kind of dog who absolutely adores people of all ages and genders, then you're looking at him. I think you humans are just the bee's knee's.  The little versions - the ones you refer to as children - are especially adorable, in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1HF9murqmU&feature=youtu.be Before I came to these kennels in Gujhrat, India, I was hanging out near an army camp trying to find scraps of food and hints of human kindness.  It's quite likely that somebody dropped me off there thinking that the soldiers would take care of me. It happens to lots of dogs; we get dumped because people can't afford to look after us.    I've been here a while now and have a bunch of other dogs to keep me company. Although I would hands down pick people to be my companions if I was stranded on a desert island, I have to say I quite like other dogs too. The beagles could use a little more zip in them - they just don't move at my pace - but we have fun anyway and they're pretty good at following me around the place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAUGN4azii8&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYfwNRF0nDE&feature=youtu.be Here I am with anther one of my dog-friends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVcOSwsF3dc&feature=youtu.be   They say I am a smart dog. Already I have learned some basic commands, I am toilet trained and I know how to walk nicely on leash. Between you and me, this stuff was pretty simple for me to learn. I am such a people-pleaser that I will try my hardest to learn anything you care to teach me.  My dream home would be with an active family. Going for walks is one of my favourite things to do.  Even if it's just you and me, that would be fine too; just bring me home to live with you, please. The day they come to tell me I have a home to go to will be the best day of my life. No, actually, that will be the day that you and I finally meet.     I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 CAD includes my airfare to Canada. Belfie Breed: Bearded Collie mix Age: 7 yrs Gender: Female, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 47 lbs / 22 inches Energy level: Medium Relations: Okay with Dogs, Cats & Children Highlights: Sweet natured, good with commands, calm, quiet inside, playful Lights, Camera, Action! Hi, my name is Belfie and I am ready for my close-up. I am a gorgeous and patient 7 year old female, mixed breed dog. I was rescued several years ago outside a big city in the Middle East, where homeless dogs like me were being killed. Fortunately some kind people took me to a shelter and gave me medical attention. When I was found, I was suffering from a terrible skin condition. Look at me now! All healed up and stunning, if I do say so myself. So what's my next big adventure? Finding my furever family! I am currently living with a foster while I wait. My foster mom says I'm the best behaved girl she has met. Not only do I have the most gorgeous blonde coat, I have a personality to match. I'm calm and quiet when inside (no barking), and playful when outside. I'm also quite bright - I understand and am happy to follow many commands. My ideal home is with a family who lives in a quiet neighbourhood. I am a little afraid of loud noises (like firecrackers or bottles opening, etc...), so I would prefer a home without young children. I have lived with other dogs and feline friends and we get along well. The rough times in my life are now distant memories and I can't wait to make many new happy ones; I am really excited to start life in Canada with you. What do you say? I'd be a great addition to your family portrait. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Hola hoomans! My name is Benny and I'm a charming 4-year old Pittie-Lab Mix from Mexico, weighing in at about 40 lbs (and 19 inches tall). I am such a loving and sweet fella, despite being tied up on a metal chain for almost my whole life. Lucky for me, some lovely hoomans come by almost daily to take me on walks and boyyyy do I ever LOVE my walks!! Sometimes the hoomans bring a ball with them and woweee is that ever fun!! Watch my video of me playing ball... look how happy I am! I may have had a pretty rough life so far, but I am still such a people person and I seem to adore men. I'm also pretty great with most other dogs. I do seem fairly interested in chasing kitty cats though, so a kitty-free home would probably be best for me. After being tied up for so long, I think I'd love to have a house (not an apartment) with a big yard for me to run around in. I've got 4 years of ZOOMIES to catch up on, doncha think?? Would you please be my happily-ever-after home? All I need is love and some exercise and I will be your BFF furever!! I have been neutered and vaccinated. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada. Anyone out there in B.C or Washington missing a sweet little white-haired terrier from Shanghai named Bianca? One that is 2 years old, 14lb and 15 inches tall and really, really wants to find a home.  I know I used to have a home but I just don't know where it went.  One day I was living with my people and wearing my 'going-out harness' and the next I was all alone on the streets of Shanghai. (I've heard it said that I was 'abandoned', whatever that means.)  At the time, my instinct was to follow this kind-looking person in the hope she would take me back to my home, but she instead took me back to her apartment for a little bit while she tried to track down my owners. Sadly, she had no luck. She decided that as I was so friendly to people I would quickly be adopted, so she took me to a huge shelter and asked them to take care of me. Well, that was a terrifying experience, let me tell you.  So many dogs, so much noise, so few people to spend time with me. I became scared and shy. And nobody adopted me. Thankfully I have now been transferred to a foster home where I feel so much better.  There are ten (yes, 10!) foster cats here, as well as another dog, and I get along with all of them.  My foster mom has reminded me how great it is to crawl onto a human lap again and feel safe and loved.  We've been going out on walks and life is starting to improve. Now, if only one of you big-hearted folks out there would be kind enough to adopt me, I could rest easy again.  I really miss belonging to my own human family and knowing that I am safe and loved in my own home. As I come out of my shell more and more I am showing what a sweet and easy little dog I am.  The kind of dog who could slip easily into your world and you would wonder how you ever managed without me in it.  So please bring me home soon.    I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Or felt like it was time for a fresh start? My name is Bijan. I'm a young dog from China.  I'm starting to get the feeling that amazing things are in store for me.  I grew up on the streets. It was a hard life and it made me pretty scared of people. Lucky for me, my rescuers were determined to get me off the streets and into a safe environment. I didn't make it easy for them either! I'm so glad they did. Since I have been in foster care, I've learned that people can be wonderful. My foster family has helped me gain confidence and blossom into a confident and gentle dog. I still am wary of strangers but warm up to them with time and patience.  So perhaps you are reading my bio now because you feel there is an empty space in your life that a pup like me could fill. I sure am ready to experience family life. We could help each other out by starting a wonderful new chapter in our lives together! If you would enjoy wet noses, stroking chins, fluffy ears and going for walks, it might be a great match. Don't they say blondes have more fun? I'm ready to make good memories with my people. We don't even have to do anything to wild and crazy, either. I'm not a high energy dog. I'm happy to be your companion. If you are able to offer me a forever home, I would be so grateful. Are you looking for a cool, calm, collected four-legged companion? Well, you just might be in luck! My name is Blitzen and I am a handsome 4 year old mixed retriever pup from Bahrain. I am quite the looker with my soft black fur, big brown eyes, and white speckled front paws. I stand about 27 inches tall and weigh about 65 pounds. I may have a pretty big stature; however I am super calm and gentle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9lO34-9G2c&feature=youtu.be). How’d I end up in the dog shelter, you might ask? Well, me and my bro were abandoned by our owners when they decided to leave the country. Unfortunately, instead of finding us a new home, they just left us tied up in the garden. We stayed there, tied up for a long time. Thank our lucky stars though, somebody called the Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) and they came and saved us! My bro and I are both safe and sound at the BARC shelter now, but we both deserve loving homes with cozy beds, treats, and lots of lovin’. I have been told that I’m grrrreat with other dogs (check out my video of me sharing a kennel with another pooch…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deb6Ca4T8bk&feature=youtu.be). I am still a young, youthful dog who loves walks and adventures, but I can also be calm and chill (can you say snoozes on the couch? Yes please!). My rescuers describe me as a lovely boy who is gentle and great with kids. I will admit, I’m not a huge fan of the kitties though, so a kitty-free home would be good for me. I’m a gem on the leash, look at my video- I’m such a good boy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWitNi4rAag&feature=youtu.be). Look how much I love having my head scratched hehe, I never want my humans to stop! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otCb6R8hv7U) Could you be my furever family? I guarantee we would be fast friends! Helloo future family! My name is Bobby (Bob) and I am a striking 5 year old German Shepard-mix pup from Bahrain.  I’m a pretty handsome dude standing about 29 inches tall and weighing in at about 78 pounds. Quite a stud, dontcha think?  Despite my rugged good looks, I have a pretty shy personality. I know I know, the handsome hunk with the quiet, sweet personality… but it’s true!! My rescuers can vouch for me… I’m just a big pup who enjoys cuddles and lotsa love! I may be slightly shy when we first meet, but after a bit of time I’ll warm right up to you and we’ll be BFF’s after that! Did someone say walk? I LOVES walks!!! Walks on the grass, walks on the pavement, walks to the dog park, you name it… I LOVE IT! My rescuers say I get along great with other dogg-o’s and I even get along with kitties (check out my video… it’s the truth!). I’m still a young dog (5-years young, right!), but I’m pretty darn calm. As long as we go for walks and adventures, I will be perfectly happy to curl up on the couch right next to you for a nice long nap (zzzZZ). Being a bit of a skittish guy, I don’t like loud noises and sometimes meeting new people can be scary. Don’t worry; even though I may take some time to adjust to my new home, with some patience and lots of love… I have all the makings of a great companion!  Won’t you please give me a furever home?   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $500 CAD includes my airfare to Canada. Brady Breed: Schnoodle Age 1-1/2 yrs Wgt/Hgt: under 22 lbs / TBA Gender: M, neutered Energy: moderate Relations: good with dogs / Cats & kids unknown Highlights: quiet, friendly I was found wandering the streets. My rescuer thinks my family just didn't want me anymore and turned me loose. Scary suddenly being on your own to fend for oneself. Being one of the many rescued dogs here in the Middle East is both relieving and frustrating at the same time. While I am safe and fed and cared for, I just don't get the time and attention I need as an individual. Oh, we get out for play times, but it is never enough to meet needs. That is why I am looking for a forever home. Somewhere I can feel free and have a family to give all my love too. And from whom I can hopefully get lots of tummy scratches. I am a very good dog with no behavioural issues. I am very kind to the shelter staff. A right polite pup, who is quite friendly. I also get as long with other pups. It would be fun to have a playmate I can be introduced to, once I have had a chance to settle. My activity level is average, so I can fit in running around or relaxing. I have never met any kitties yet. I have been living in a shelter, so haven't exactly learned house etiquette yet, but I bet I will learn very fast.
