About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. FEMORIK Breed: Smooth Coat Collie/Shepard Age: 1 yr Gender: Male, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 55 lbs / 30 inches Energy level: Medium Relations: Good with Dogs & Cats / kids unknown Highlights: Friendly and Outgoing Region: Middle East Can this dog with a limp make your heartbeat skip? Can I skip along with you? Can this dog with a grin make your spirit sing? Can I sing along with you? Can this ball of fluff, who has had it rough find true love with you? Hello beautiful people. Okay, so I might not be a poet, but I got a winning personality and I'm sure we would be great friends! I'm currently living at a shelter in the Middle East. I ended up here after being rescued from a drug addict. At the time of my rescue, I had a broken back leg. It's been repaired successfully through surgery and I'm now pain free. I have retained a bit of a limp but it doesn't cause me any problems or slow me down at all. I really like to think of it as a skip more than a limp - because it doesn't hurt. Also, as you can see from my video, my tail works perfectly! I love being around people and other dogs and get my wiggle wag going. Am I the right dog for you? I sure hope so. I am very friendly and get along really well with other dogs and even cats!  I haven't been exposed to any children. I'd probably do well in an adult home. A fenced back yard would be amazing too.... and my very own bed too!  Wowee!! You see, I haven't had very much to call my own so far in life. By giving me a space in your family, you'd be giving this dog the whole world. In return, I'll give you all my love. Pretty great deal, right? A moderately active home would suit my needs just fine. Hopefully, you are waiting for a buddy to do all kinds of fun things with. Hopefully, I've got your attention and you see all my potential. I'm a very sweet dog that just can't wait to start life in his forever home. Please consider clicking adopt, and we can skip away into the sunset and live happily ever after.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.  show less

Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   I am Finlay, a cheerful 2 year old Lab/Jindo mix from S.Korea. I'm 44 lb and 24 inches tall. Whan I was first found wandering the streets I was brought to a high-kill dog pound and given a short window of time to be adopted. Since the local people consider me a big dog and therefore undesirable, I had no applications and was put on the euthanasia list.  But my friendly personality caught the eye of a volunteer who got me out of there in time and I am now safe in the care of a private rescue group. I am the kind of dog who is comfortable with everyone, whether it be people or dogs.  Even people I have never met can approach me and I'll happily let them touch me all over.  If you have older children I would enjoy being around them and I think they'd really like my happy-go-lucky personality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMdFilN6nlI&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGNAlGtoEeCg43d2dQPDJF_&index=2 In terms of energy I have just about the right amount. Plenty of it for walks or playing with other dogs, but I'm also good at calmly relaxing when I'm back in my pen. If you wanted to, I bet you could teach me to play fetch or frisbee; I'm up for anything fun. That's just the kind of dog I am; fun-loving and affectionate.  In my world every day is sunshine and rainbows! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWw6Q6ydOHc&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGNAlGtoEeCg43d2dQPDJF_&index=3 My enthusiasm for life also makes me curious about other creatures so when I was introduced to a cat I wanted to get a good sniff to check it out. If you have a sensitive cat they may not take kindly to my intrusive behaviour - just something to think about.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYpHZANEhIs&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGNAlGtoEeCg43d2dQPDJF_&index=6 So there you have it folks, I'm hoping that you recognize a good dog when you see one.  You really can't go wrong with picking me to be your next best friend. If you do, I promise to do everything in my power to bring a daily smile to your face.   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   It's my lucky day!  That's because you are out there somewhere and you are thinking of adopting me.  It's true isn't it - I can feel it. My name is Gambol. I'm a two year old Jindo mix from S.Korea. My height is 20 inches and I weigh 40lb.  I was found at a dog meat farm. My rescuer had actually gone there in search of another dog, Davey, when she learned his owner had sold him for meat. When she showed up she was amazed to find not only Davey, but another dog who looked identical - me!  She decided to save us both. It really is uncanny how alike we look, so there's a chance we may actually be brothers.  After my rescue I was sent to a special board-and-train centre for three months. This is a facility that helps prepare dogs for future lives as domestic pets and I'm proud to tell you I have successfully completed my training and now I'm ready for adoption. Of course, I could still benefit from ongoing obedience training.  Since I've been here I've realized just how great it feels to be with people. I really like you guys!  When one of you scratches me under the chin, or around my neck, I'm in heaven! Feel free to give me lots of that kind of attention, please. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIs6zfE3yPw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGOhg2cWvCKpA1zC2MYpqqu&index=4 I have lots of energy and enjoy running around and playing with other dogs. I am still learning how to greet dogs politely so it's always a good idea to monitor new dog introductions. After the initial hello's are over with, I love to get into the full-on playtime, as you can see in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXfQMfVxh74&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGOhg2cWvCKpA1zC2MYpqqu&index=3 I have been introduced to cats and they made me a touch nervous, but I guess I could get used to one if I had to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1RhKgmsQlM&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGOhg2cWvCKpA1zC2MYpqqu&index=5 If you love going for walks, then we have a lot in common.  It's one of my favourite activities and I'm told I'm fairly good on leash - whatever that means.  Hopefully you can teach me to understand English by repeating over and over "what a good boy".     I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes, includes my airfare to Canada. Golpari Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab Age: 5 yrs Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 51 lbs / 25-1/2 inches Energy level: moderate Relations: good with dogs, kids / unknown cats Highlights: Super sweet, people oriented I was found as a young pup of maybe 5 months old, living by the city garbage dump. I had very bad mange, as you can see by my photo. The people whom saved me transferred me over to a shelter. There, they treated me for mange, but each summer it came back. Until finally, they got some great stuff from the US to use. Now, my mange problem is gone and my fur has grown back in beautifully. See my bright Auburn coat? My rescuer says whoever adopts me won't be sorry. The shelter says I am the  sweetest, kindest dog around. I act real cute too. Here I am at the shelter: https://youtu.be/fZ0yWNOCeGg. I am loveable to people, dogs and even kids. I haven't been around cats though, so best a non kitty home, because I just have no idea how I would react to one. I am a playful girl too, so we should be able to have some good fun. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   I am Goofy. No, silly, that's my name, not my nature - though I do have a funny side. (It's my left one - heehee!)  O.K, enough with the wise cracks, let's get to the facts: I am about 4 years old, weigh 29lb and I'm 20 inches tall.  The first thing I want you to know about me is that I really love human beings. And this, despite the fact that when animal control found me, I was shut in a small cage in a high-kill shelter and watched people pass me by without so much as a second glance! I wanted to be out of there so badly that I gnawed at the iron bars until my I wore down my incisors.  Thankfully one of you lovely people realised that I deserved a future and I have now been brought to a much nicer shelter where I have a chance to indulge my affection for humans.  I like to meet all sorts of people and will look at them and give them my best smile, hoping for extra scratches and attention.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZDMYTuzGcM&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFTBi2hVTtAIW_EUQ6BqiNT&index=2 Until now I haven't had a lot of opportunity to enjoy the company of other dogs. I can be a little shy at first, so it would be good for me to spend more time with dog friends and learn how to play and have fun.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6eJnjzUHgU&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFTBi2hVTtAIW_EUQ6BqiNT&index=3 When I met a cat I was friendly but polite. I think it could be quite pleasant to share a home with a friendly cat.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dImM_EM3uw8&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFTBi2hVTtAIW_EUQ6BqiNT&index=6 If you offer to take me for a walk, I will be over the moon. What a fantastic combination - being with you while walking! Mind you, I'm not a super high energy dog; you don't have to walk me for hours or take me running. I would say I'm a dog of medium energy.  I have a hearty appetite but don't have a problem with food guarding. Although it's hard to say you're house-trained when you live at a shelter, let's just say I prefer to 'do my business' outdoors.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJCdWCrST_M&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFTBi2hVTtAIW_EUQ6BqiNT&index=7 My carer says she gets a kick out of seeing me play or run outside because she feels I'm a dog who had never had the opportunity to have fun before.  I have a feeling my future life will be lots of fun. What do you think?   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, My adoption fee of $500 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Gumdrop (Gandom) Breed: Whippet mix Age: 1-1/2 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 44 lbs / 23 inches Energy level: moderate to high Relations: good with dogs / kids & cats unknown Highlights: Energetic, smart, sweet Region: Middle East Region: Middle East A person found me here in the Middle East and saw the bone of my back leg was sticking out from my muscle and it was bleeding a lot. This rescuing angel knew I was in great pain, because I was constantly screaming. She brought me to the doctor and had my leg operated on. Sadly, they could not entirely fix the damage and so my leg was cut off above the infection point to avoid the infection spreading to my body. So, here I am a tripaw... but I am alive. I tend to be a kind hearted girl to others, whether it is people or other dogs. https://youtu.be/9UXI_AhV0Zw. Not sure about cats, I have never been introduced to one yet. I am certainly friendly, but I would likely want to chase one. I love people so much, I am sure I would be fine with kids too. I enjoy playing and playing and playing some more. I do not seem to need rest, maybe I am the original Energizer bunny. Look at my cheery face, ready to brighten your day. https://youtu.be/O1Grad1JbrM. It is likely an apartment would not be the best situation. Probably the best home would be one that is quite active. Folks who are constantly up and about, going places and doing things. Gee, the dog park would provide us hours of fun things to do. Oh, I bet we could try many things. You will have to gauge how strenuous an activity I can do. But, I will want to try it all. Hiking in the forest, running on the beach, let's go. Oooh, I so want to be able to really run around, not be stuck in a shelter with limited area to run. Having a yard for my energy level is probably an important thing. If you had plenty of space, that would be soooo special, especially if you had a dog friend already there to play with. Please bring me to Canada soon, before I go stir crazy here. I could provide you with endless amusement. Newer vid: https://youtu.be/Du7W1PFAh70   I am spayed/neutered, *vaccinated and microchipped. Applications will only be considered if you live in the B.C interior and can easily meet Hobbs several times. Hello from Kelowna! My name is Hobbs. I'm a handsome one year old white lab/shepherd mix, weighing 50lb and with a height of 17 inches. Originally rescued from the streets in Kuwait, I was given the chance to come to Canada in order to find my forever home. I'll be honest with you; so far things haven't worked out. It seemed like I'd hit the jackpot with my first home; I had so much fun and got the kind of love and attention I'd always longed for. The thing is, once I recognized it was my home I started to feel a bit possessive of my people and would growl at others to keep away. I became nervous around the teenage boy and it no longer seemed like the right home for me. I was moved to a foster home which I shared with a whole pack of other dogs. At first I didn't like that at all and I had a few scraps with some of the dogs. But my foster dad soon realised that I am actually a fearful dog who suffers from anxiety.  I was started on anti-anxiety medicine and my behaviour rapidly improved. Although I'll probably need to stay on these meds, the good news is that they only cost about $25/month; a small price to pay for the positive change.  Now I play really well with my pack mates and I'm a happy dog who enjoys meeting new people. There are still times when I can get a little growly if I'm scared or startled, but I'm easily comforted by my foster dad. My future guardian needs to be someone I can trust and feel safe with so that he or she can help me in these moments.  Teenagers, especially males, seem to make me feel nervous, so my future home should be adults only. Most importantly, my adopter should be someone calm and confident who has some dog experience. Much as I enjoy playing with other dogs, I can be selective of my dog friends. That's why my second home didn't work out. The dog in that home, a female german shepherd, was also picky about her friends and the two of us just didn't mesh. My best friend at my foster home is a male pit-bull mix, but I'm not fond of hyper dogs. I would love to have a fur sibling in my forever home but he or she should be a calm, well-balanced dog, and the best thing would be for us to meet several times to see if we are compatible. Once I've found a canine friend though, I will happily play with them for hours. If you come and meet me you'll see just how loveable and affectionate I can be. With people I know, and even with some strangers, I will offer my belly and lean against you for some loving.  My foster dad says I am a real cuddle-bug! I'm very good on leash and I have excellent recall, so you if you're looking for a hiking partner I'd be a great match. I have a good amount of energy but I'm also able to settle down for a nap or just chill out once we come back home.  I know I'm not as straightforward as some dogs, but if you're willing to take the time to understand me you will be rewarded with a loyal and very loving companion. Please come and meet me.    Here's a video of me doing some training: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMR0ofkeYwCuwg3QNXDS2ZIHn3QecncOORVZdChrCXu0jptMFsDvU6rDSpQ4cj-6w?key=VnJPOC1sZjFLMXlRVG1aZzBGV2hPQnhsaGYzeFB3     I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee is $550CAD + applicable taxes.       Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hiya. I am Hoya, a super-friendly and happy 2 year old Jindo mix from S.Korea. I come complete with a gorgeous brindle-coloured coat on my 35lb frame and I'm just the right height at 19 inches tall. Like many others here, I was a stray who was taken to the pound. I would not have lasted long there if I hadn't been spotted by a private rescue group and taken to safety. In January I was lucky enough to go to a special board and train facility where they help prepare rescue dogs for our future lives as part of a human family. Cool huh? Guess what? I quickly learned my basic manners and now I am helping socialize other dogs here. You could say I'm kind of an ambassador dog.  I am very comfortable around dogs of all sizes and I know how to read their signals. If they want to play with me, then I'm all for it; but if they'd prefer to be left alone I have no problem with that at all.  If you're looking for a companion for your current dog then I'd be a good pick.   Here I am with some other dogs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCDxCX_Rh3Y&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE_UBhXL_TmF5kNPDiWEovE&index=5 On the other hand, if I'm to be an only dog,  I would also be very happy because I adore people. It would be awesome to find a human who shared my enthusiasm for walks as well as one who would indulge my love of belly rubs. Whenever the leash appears I get pretty excited at the prospect of going out for a walk.  Does anyone out there feel the same way? This is my happy walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpwL4wOtfIs&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE_UBhXL_TmF5kNPDiWEovE&index=8 And here I am greeting a child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2YtG-xn_sA&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE_UBhXL_TmF5kNPDiWEovE&index=3 If you already have a cat and you're wondering if the two of us would get along, then I can tell you that although I am quite curious about felines, I don't feel any aggression toward them at all so I believe we could peacefull co-exist.  Meeting a cat:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP7BFy3gQAw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE_UBhXL_TmF5kNPDiWEovE&index=6 Here's what I hope you remember about me before you scroll on to look at other dogs: I get along with everybody.   Remember my name: HOYA. I'll be waiting.     I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. My name is Jackie Brown, pleasure to meet you! I’m a 1 year old shepherd saluki mix from Bahrain. I’m an adorable cutie pie and weigh about 35 pounds (perfectly medium, if I do say so myself). Aren’t I a pretty girl? Word on the street is that I’m a total sweetheart too! My rescuers describe me as playful, happy, and easy-going. My past is a bit of a mystery; all I know is that I was rescued off the streets as a wee puppy and have been living at Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) ever since. My rescuers have taken such good care of me my whole life… but it’s been a whole year now and all I want is to have a family and a home to call my very own! Growing up surrounded by other dogs at the shelter has made me into quite a sociable pup. Check out the pic of me hangin’ out with my bestie, Dani. We get along great and love to play wrestle and run zoomies together. I’m good with other dogs and I love humans, although I can be shy upon first introductions. I can assure you that I will warm up speedy quick after I realize that you are trustworthy. Throw in a couple of treats and we truly will be best buds (did I mention I love treats? Heheh) I long for a home of my own. I’d love to experience the luxury of belly rubs, treats, and a cozy bed. I’ve heard soooo many good things about the beautiful Pacific North West… I can guarantee that I’ll LOVE going for hikes and walks! I’m still a young and youthful dog, so I have a moderate amount of energy. After a daily walk and maybe a trip to the dog park, I will gladly spend the afternoon snoozing. Do you think you could be my furever family? I’d really like to find them soon! I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Judy Breed: Golden Retriever Mix Age: 2.5 years old Wgt/Hgt: 52 lbs/TBD Activity level: Moderate Relations: good with dogs, cats/unknown kids Highlights: Friendly, Energetic, Kind, malformed front paw Hi there. I’m a gorgeous 2.5 year old Golden Retriever mix and I’m ready to fly abroad to meet my new family! https://youtu.be/Wsc6q_8QEvk. I’m coming from the Middle East where I’ve been very scared. I came to the shelter with a deformed paw which will need some TLC from a loving family who could help me find the proper treatment. The vet confirmed I was born like this. I only have one toe on my right paw and so of course that foot is shorter than the others. I do okay walking on carpet and grass, although I can’t walk with this paw in soil or hard areas, as I’m prone to infection. It would be ideal to cover my paw with an outdoor type bootie or prosthetic if I am to be on those surfaces, so my skin will be protected. If an infection breaks out, I need to get on antibiotics right away. It may be good for a vet there to better evaluate the needs for my paw.  I have been doing great for many months now. My rescuers just get me tested with a CBC, if there are any symptoms to see if there is an infection. My caretakers love me very much. They say I’m friendly and love attention from everyone and every dog. I am very energetic and love playing with my dog friends. I am calm riding in a car though. I find myself pretty indifferent to cats, not particularly interesting creatures, so could live with them just fine. https://youtu.be/509L1_xn6sY. I would be a great companion and do great in a home with a very special family that is willing to love me unconditionally and help me with my paw. An active home that likes to play and spend time with me would be wonderful. I’m a great girl looking for a second chance in Canada or America and look forward to meeting my special family! Here's a funny fast forward vid of me: https://youtu.be/NURIUCUvIIc. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.  My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. show less

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Kahlua (Pony) Breed: Bulgarian Shepard/Greyhound Age: 7 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 60 lbs/ 27 inches Energy level: low to moderate Relations: good with most dogs, males not so much / unknown kids and cats Highlights: tripaw, calm, friendly, independent, quiet, intelligent Region: Middle East Hello dear Canadian peoples. Given my best guess breed, that makes me a medium-large girl. Hey, more of me to love, I can sit in two laps at once. I have spent my life so far here in a shelter. I really want to know what it is to have a loving home. I was found by some trash cans with an infected leg when I was 2 years old. Another dog had seriously bit me, while I was just trying to find a meal. Food is often scarce, so it is a struggle here in the Middle East to survive. The place where I hung out was very dirty. It caused an infection, which fortunately did not result in the loss of my leg. That infection was cured with medication, however I had an old break that showed up on the xrays. It did not require surgery, but it has caused me to permanently hold up that leg, as it is rigid. This has created some nerve dysfunction between my knee down to my toes, but it doesn't stop me from moving about. I tend to be calm and friendly. I have with an independent and quiet nature. I display no aggression toward humans. For the most part, I have a good relationship with most other dogs, but I do have issues with male dogs. It must have been a big boy dog that bit me to make me feel this way. I have never been around a cat. It is not unusual to see me off by myself. I enjoy my personal space at times. Don't get me wrong, I am nice and kind, I just need relaxed space occasionally. Due to my intelligence and independence, a training class after I have settled in a while might be a good thing for both of us. A semi to lower activity home is probably best. I do like to get out though. Walking is something I enjoy doing, as is just resting, taking in the sights and sounds of my environment. I guess you could say I am observant of what goes on around me. My ideal family will be those who like to get out on leisurely walks and also hang out around home working in the garden and such, where I can just lay down and watch. Or maybe reading or watching TV, so I can snuggle against you and chill out. I hope you will consider applying for me. I really want a real home.   I am spayed/neutered, *vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $400.00, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
