About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. Please do not contact us, as we know nothing about the dog. This is a courtesy posting only. For more information, please contact the rescue person listed below. Thank you. For more information on or to set up a meet and greet with this dog, please email: Jerry at super645@yahoo.com. Available for adoption in South Central Alaska ONLY. Or anyone who can reach the area for a meet and greet. I'm Kiera. I was born August 8, 2013. I am a malamute and everyone who meets me tells me how pretty I am. I weigh about 75 lbs. I didn't have a very good home before I came to live where I am now.. The man wasn't very nice to me and he had to dogs who beat up on me all the time, so I don't get along with other dogs very well, because I am scared of being hurt again. So a one dog home is best. I don't know how I would do with a kitty. I like guys ok, especially the guy I live with, but I especially like women, and older kids. I like younger kids, but I can be over energetic with them and sometimes scare them or bump them over and I don't mean to. I am very well behaved, I have never had an accident in the house no matter how long I have to stay inside. I love treats and if you are eating something, it goes without saying that I should have some of that too. I like snuggling and I have a stuffed Tigger that I like to play with, if you get on the floor with me. I especially like car rides too and will wait patiently while you run into the store. It is not that my man doesn't like me, he loves me and I love him. But he had to move into an apartment and he wants to find a place where I can have more activity and explore in the woods or where ever. When we lived up on the mountain I would go with him on hikes all of the time. I have good recall when called back too. One issue I have is one of my eyes was damaged in a fight before my current owner got me. The vet said it has atrophied. So it is smaller than my good eye. It really hasn't changed much. I would say if anything it may need occasional cleaning to keep out any debris. The vet said it could stay like this or eventually shrink more needing removal at some point. I can probably see some light/shadows with it. I'm a very lovable dog to people, and I would make an excellent companion for someone or a family. I am a very loyal girl.   I am spayed and up to date on immunizations. There will be a small rehoming fee.   COURTESY POST This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. This is a courtesy posting only. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. King Arthur Breed: Pitbull terrier mix Age: 5 yrs Gender: M, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 47 lbs / 26 inches tall Energy level: Average. Medium-high (when playing) Relations: Good with dogs after intro/good with teens, kids (see policy)/Not best with cats               Highlights: sweet, smoochy, good walking on leash, rides well in car, loves to play ball and go for walks, house trained Region: Mexico Honoring my name, and as the truthful king of smoochies, I’m looking for my knights to spend the rest of my life with. If you’re up for becoming a part of the Pittie round table, I’m your perfect match! I am a sweet boy who is super handsome, calm and well-adjusted to being around people. Found on the streets of Mexico wandering around; it seemed as if I hadn’t been abandoned for very long. I almost got ran over by a truck, but my rescuer managed to get me out of the avenue, safe and sound. it's unknown how I ended up on the streets. My rescuer and her family took me in, to keep me safe. Apparently, my looks could have put me in danger in my country. Car travel experience must have been in my past, as I had no issues all the way to the vet for a check. The doctor said I was fit as a fiddle, and after a few days, I got neutered, vaccinated and dewormed (not my favorite moment, to be honest). Since then, my rescuer has cared for me, along with an especially sweet 14 year old guy with whom I spend the most time. I can get a little anxious when “my" person leaves and will softly whine. https://youtu.be/939J5WPyZe4. I don’t care much for large crowds though and feel a bit stressed at that time. My caretakers say that I’m the smoochiest dog ever, a good kiss is all it takes for me to be ever affectionate and just overall happy. Listening is one of my strongest suits, so you can always count on me for that. I love sausages, so they’d do the trick if you want to train me. I can be a little stubborn at first (I’m a king) but I learn pretty fast, so I’ll pick up the commands. https://youtu.be/2r8GFznskqo. I always have a great time exercising, but I know how to walk calmly on a leash and pretty well ignore most everything. https://youtu.be/S5p7IPOBrvQ. Of course when I'm with my friend, Jason (the white Pittie), and we see the kids we know coming towards us, well... we get excited and pull to reach them. Ha https://youtu.be/64QNpG2UN8k. I’m smart, obedient, clean, and house trained. Yea. I like other dog’s company, but I think I will do best as the only one in the house. I sometimes move forward and growl at other dogs when they get too close. With a couple meetings though, I usually become friends. I don’t like sharing my toys with other dogs when playing though. https://youtu.be/IxHbYTo5rj0. I have been around a couple of young children and it went well. I just think I might be a little strong to hang out with them often, but I definitely get along with teenagers. They’re my fav!     Not usually many problems with cats, I don't like them too close and can growl when I get stressed. They can make me a bit tense. But you can be sure that my years in this world made me a true gentleman, emphasis on the gentle part! I don’t know why, but recently I’ve started to bark at many things while in my crate. I'm typically not much of a barker. I just want to be part of a family, where I can hang out with you. I enjoy any kinds of activity with my human knights, whether it be relaxing after a long day, or racing around together in the morning. My energy level depends on what I’m doing, so I can be pretty relaxed while watching a movie or pretty energetic while playing ball (I love it!). I’m a very adaptable guy. A back yard with a tall fence (since I know how to jump quite high when playing ball– yes, I am quite athletic) would be nice (I'm not kn ki an to jump unless asked or playing though), but I also like going out for walks to enjoy the air and the view. I look forward to starting a new life in Canada and will be sure to bring lots of love and fun to my new home! I have been neutered and vaccinated. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. WASSUPPPP future fam?! Kobey here. I'm a 6 month old Shepherd/Saluki mixed pup from Bahrain. I'm currently about 30 pounds and growing fast! I'll be a large pup, that's for sure. I'm a cutie, what can I say!  I was found as a stray pup in a placed called Busaiteen, a small town in Bahrain. For some reason, I was separated from my pack and was all alone. Even though I was an adorable puppy, some cruel teenagers had beaten me. Luckily, I was found by the amazing Board Members of BARC (Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre). They brought me to safety and got me all fixed up. Enough of that sad stuff! On to happier thoughts... I am now a healthy pup with a tummy full of food and a heart full of SO much love to give! Oh and also a body FULL of tail wags and puppy energy, he he he. As you can see from my videos, I'm such a goofball! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-jYaGrJ4mM&feature=youtu.be) As all puppies are, I'm a bit mischevious, but that's what makes me extra cute! I'm learning to be a good boy on a leash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpFPClW4t_4&feature=youtu.be) and I'm pretty chill with meeting other dogs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKE4dVv16p4&feature=youtu.be).  Being so young, I have a lot to learn and am basically a blank slate! If you adopt me, we could do lots of training together and make me reaaaalll smart. I bet I could do tricks- I'm pretty clever. If you have treats... I'll pretty much do anything! I'm looking for an active home with hoomans of my own who can take me for lots of walks and adventures! I'm gonna need quite a few walks each day to get all this puppy energy out- but I hear spring and summer is coming soon... so what a grrrreat time to be outside with a puppy! I play hard but I also snooze hard too... and that's when I L.O.V.E. to cuddle. Ahhhh to have hoomans to cuddle me all the time... that's a pups dream come true! I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada. Calling all canine-lovers! My name is Lainie, pleasure to e-meet you! I am a strikingly pretty shepherd-mix young pooch from Bahrain. I am about 3 years old, 46 pounds, and 26 inches tall.    I grew up living with a lady who didn't treat me very well. I lived with about 20 cats in a horribly-conditioned house. My owner ended up being deported (yikes) and left me and all of my feline-friends behind. Luckily we were rescued and moved to the shelter, which is a HUGE upgrade from our horrible home. I feel like I'm practically living in first-class now, in comparison to what I had before. Despite this major upgrade, I still don't have a "home" to call my own. I would love to have humans to cuddle with me and a cozy bed to snooze on. I hear that long walks and hikes are pretty awesome... boy how I'd love to experience that!    Seeing as I grew up surrounded by 20 cats, I'm very cat friendly. Check out my video; put a kitty next to me and I'm wagging my tail! Pretty chill, right?    If you're looking for a young, four-legged, furry companion... look no further! Please consider becoming my furever family, I'd love that so much!    I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable tax. This includes my transportation to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.  Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LOGAN (Middle East) - Adoption pending

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. LOGAN (Lucas) Breed: Husky Age: 4 yrs Gender: m, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 66 lbs / 23-1/2 inches Energy level: Moderate to fairly active Relations: good with dogs / unknown kids, cats Highlights: smart, loves playing ball, bit food protective, avoids touch until comfortable then will even sleep with you, bit leery of strange men yet, responsive to training, house trained, good leash walker Region: Middle East Do you like being pampered with softness? Then I'm your fluffy guy. I am a lover of play and have an eager mind to learn. Life is not good for dogs here in my country. A bad owner kept me in a small garden without shelter and not fed often. I was also all alone. That is hard emotionally on a pack animal, especially a husky. They knew nothing about my breed and thought I was a guard dog type. When my rescuer got me, I had wounds on my body and legs and my collar was cutting into my skin.  Now, I am a happy boy. I really enjoy playing with other dogs, but I haven't been around cats or kids. Oh, and ball playing, that is another fun pastime. I am rather possessive of my food and will grumble and bare my teeth to let other dogs know it is mine. My rescuer is working on this and I am improving & eating my food where the other dogs are now. Upon first meeting I tend to jump in your face and bark. Once I get to know who you are, I start smiling at you. During the first couple days, I often won't let someone touch me. But start giving me treats and playing ball with me, then we are best of friends. In fact, I will probably be asking you to touch me and even want to sleep in bed with you. I'm not fond of strange men taking hold of my collar/leash and will show a snarl and maybe bang my mouth on them as a warning. It is not a bite though. It just worries me until I get to know them. Likely this is due to something that happened to me. Once I realize you won't let any harm come to me, that should dissipate with training. If I do something wrong, they just say no bad boy. (In Persian, of course) and I then I will sit and try to shake paws with you. If I am cute and flash my brown eyes at you, how could you get upset with me? I am quite smart, as us Huskies tend to be. My energy is moderate to fairly active, as most Huskies are, so an active to moderately active home would suit me. If you had a yard, that would be great, but if not some hikes would be super too. Just plenty of exercise is needed for the likes of us legendary breeds.  I know to do my business outside and do well with leash walking. I am a perky boy and would love to live with another dog as a playmate.  My rescuer had me fully checked, bloodwork and all and I am fully healthy. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable tax. This includes my airfare to Canada. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. show less

Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hello everyone out there. My name is Lowa. I'm an 8 month old, 29lb  jindo mix from S.Korea who is soooo excited at the prospect of coming to live with you. My mom was pregnant when she was found as a stray and taken to the shelter, where she gave birth to me and my 5 littermates. At ten weeks old we were all put on the euthanasia list after mom got adopted. But thankfully we were saved by a kind-hearted volunteer and taken in by another rescue group.  Several of my siblings have now found homes in Canada and the U.S already. I think it's my turn next! I would describe myself as very sociable. I just like being around people and other dogs. Everyone really! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C61dnucK8Ws&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEKyTVOxMnPDxzN6ZVEoBaI&index=3 Cuddly, is another good word to convey my affectionate nature. I'm just a happy, outgoing dog who would be thrilled to find my human family. If you already have another dog in the home, even better, I know we'll become the best of friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U6dX26lJgI&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEKyTVOxMnPDxzN6ZVEoBaI&index=4 While I'm waiting to come to you I'll be spending time at Welcome Paws Academy where they are going to teach me how to walk nicely on leash. I understand I'll be doing a lot of that with you. Sounds good to me! As long as I get a chance to run around at a dog park too.  I have to go and romp with my pals now, so I'll say goodbye. Hope to meet you in person real soon.   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Lyla (Mexico) - Pending Adoption

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hiya! Lyla here! I am a one-year old, 38-pound Belgian Malinois-mixed pooch from Mexico. Quite the beauty, eh? Check out my two different coloured eyes! I am a lovely, fun girl who deserves a home filled with love and adventure! My past is a bit of a mystery, but if it was anything like most other strays in Mexico, it probably wasn’t ideal. Strays often struggle to survive in the hot streets and rarely have enough food or water. Luckily, I’m now safe and sound at the shelter! Although it is not luxurious, at least I have all of my necessities being met. Personality-wise, I am pretty awesome (if I do say so myself, hehe)! Being part Belgian Malinois (we think), I have traits very similar to that of a German Shepherd; I am intuitive, hard-working, active, protective, and a wee-bit stubborn sometimes. I am by no means a ‘couch-potato’ dog. I would LOVE to find a home where I can be challenged. Doggy puzzles, hikes, agility training… I’m a smart cookie and need to be kept busy. I long to have my very own people who love me unconditionally and give me the activity I need. I dream of going on lots of adventures; hikes, dog parks, swimming, car rides… you name it, I’d like to try it! It would be sooo nice to have a family who gives me lots of treats and belly rubs. I promise to repay you with lots of tail-wagging and doggy kisses! My rescuers say that I am very loving with people and would be an ideal dogg-o for someone who wants to have a companion for ample outdoor activities. My rescuers say that I am super friendly and get along well with other dogs. Needless to say, I would be more than happy to share my household with another active doggy! I’m not a huge fan of the felines however, so no kitty cats in my household please. Check out my vid with me and my kennel-buddies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9CrBU3P6Oc&feature=youtu.be). I have already learned some basic obedience skills, but I know I am capable of learning so much more. I’m a smart dawg, remember? Care to embark on this adventure with me? Pretty please consider me for your new furry family member! I am spayed and vaccinated. My adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hello world! My name is Mackie and I am a charming 2 year old saluki/golden retriever mixed pup from Bahrain. I am 50 pounds of pure handsomeness and stand about 23 inches tall. Check out my adorable nose freckles and soft, furry ears. Aren’t I SO darn cute? I was found wandering the streets of Bahrain with my bro, Brownie. A kind American man noticed us and brought us to the Shelter where we could be cared for and kept safe from the dangers of the city streets. We have been at the BARC Shelter ever since, and even though they take great care of us, we both long to have a home of our own. I’m really good with other dogg-o's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsTC1dttIFk) and I LOVE to be loved by my humans (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9mBo6mRkB0&feature=youtu.be). They seem to love me too, I mean, look how gentle and cute I am!! How could they not love me?! I’m a pretty good boy on the leash albeit a wee bit distracted by yummy smells and things that move, hehehe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqZHGgM8y4k&feature=youtu.be). My rescuers say that I am SUPER sweet. Look at my picture of me being super smart doing my “shake-a-paw". Are ya sold on me yet? I’m basically the full meal deal; young, adorable, smart, and gentle! What more can you want in an furry, four-legged companion? I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hello, it's Maggie, ready and waiting to come and live with you forever. Pleeeease make it so! I was found with my puppy, living on the streets of Shanghai and we were both brought to the shelter. Because it was already so crowded there, the shelter manager ended up bringing us both back to her house to be fostered. We're very lucky because there are only about 15 dogs here, whereas back at the shelter there are over 300! They guess my age to be somewhere around a year and a half to two years, I weigh 20lb and I'm a fairly short little dog at just 14 inches tall. I look like I might have some Tibetan spaniel in my genetic make up.  I'm a fairly easy-going dog who can be quite content doing nothing much. Every once in a while I enjoy the chance to chase away the odd stray cat that dares to visit the courtyard, but the rest of my days are spent checking out the house and yard, napping in a corner or schmoozing with the other dogs who live here.  Mind you, once I have my own family I'm sure there will be other interesting things to do. Going for daily walks for one thing. Maybe even snuggling with my people. Those are things I don't get the chance to do around here and they sound awfully nice to me. I have a feeling you could change my whole life if you decide that I'm the one. Here's hoping........   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Marble (Maya) Breed: Shepard mix Age: 3 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Weight/Height: 66 lbs/ 27-1/2 inches Activity level: Low to Moderate Relations: good with dogs / no cats / kids unknown, but likely fine Highlights: kind, loves all people, tripaw Region: Middle East Greetings. I am a very sweet, not so commonly seen brindle Shepard mix. Don't you just love my coat color? I was rescued from a government truck in the Middle East that was taking me to be killed by acid injection, a severely painful way to die. I get along with every human I see. I am fine with other dogs too. I really don't like those meowy things though and get kind of mean with them. Never been around children yet. But, as I seem to love every person I see, if the kids gave me attention, I'd probably be happy with them too. Just understand, I haven't been tested around them.  The rescuer is having me re-evaluated at the vet to see if they should amputate further up my leg, as I dip down bending my other leg a lot wanting to use the short leg https://youtu.be/WcJ-t3Koot4. A prosthesis might be of great benefit helping me though, if I could keep the leg.  Since I am past puppy stage, probably a mellow home that is low to moderately low in activity would suit me. I enjoy just hanging out, getting loved on and smelling the roses while out on walks, so to speak. I sure hope I can get to Canada or the US soon. A shelter is no place for a lovely girl like me. Are you ready for compliments galore from people who see my gorgeous beauty? That's probably what you are going to hear. A recent video, it is really hit here right now: https://youtu.be/acMa0uPejW0.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $450.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Hi there, my name is Marilyn. I'm a 13lb chihuahua mix, around 2 years of age and 12 inches tall and I am dying to meet you in person. Right now I am living in a foster home after being dumped, along with my litter of puppies outside the gates of the Shanghai shelter.  Whether it was the shock of being in such a noisy, crowded place, or being separated from my puppies, I don't know, but the fact is I spent all day, every day crying in that shelter.  The shelter manager couldn't stand it any longer so she brought me back to her house. It's hard for me to count all the foster dogs she has here, but I don't mind, because I am way happier in this place than I was at the shelter.  I don't cry any more and in fact I often feel quite happy.  My happiest moments are when I get cuddles from my foster mom or one of the other humans here. I love it when people show me affection and I can give lots of it back in return, so I hope you're prepared! Hanging out with the other dogs is very pleasant because we've all become friends. I could easily share my future home with another dog if you have one already. Since I arrived here I seem to have a little extra cushioning around my middle, so I could probably use your help to lose a couple of pounds and get my svelte figure back. I don't have a chance to go out for walks (there are too many of us for that) so once you and I start doing that each day, I'm sure I'll get back in shape in no time! Check out how cute I look in my snug little jacket. I'm hoping it will make me so irresistible that you'll rush to fill out my adoption application right away!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.
