About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

Disee Breed: Rat Terrier mix Age: 1-1/2 years, Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 15-1/2 lbs / just under 14 inches Relations: best as only pet / no cats / no kids Highlights: house trained, shy, stress induced anxiety, playful Hi, I was found by a soldier here in the Middle East. He saw my owner drop me. Thankfully, he was able to get me from him. That owner also beat me. Due to my treatment at the hands of this terrible owner, I am a bit shy and somewhat fearful of strangers. I will bark at first and sometimes even hide in a corner. It will take time to get me to come around to friendliness. I prefer not to just have anyone try to touch me right away. I like to feel comfortable with them first. I don't find cats very likeable either and will bark at them too. UPDATE: I made it to Canada and am staying in a foster home. I was very fearful to come out of my kennel a whole lot in the beginning, without being growly & snappy at first. I am now on some anti-anxiety meds and it is helping me to settle. I have begun to frisk around energetically in the wire pen set up in the living room. I play & try to get out, etc... My foster has been making physical contact with me now, and ya know what... I think I like it... so long as you move slow and relaxed right now anyway. See, I am beginning to learn I am safe now and don't have to be so guarded. If you move too fast or over-react, I can move instantly from playful to threatened. The big thing is... I am really trying to learn how to behave. I am making progress. One thing I do need is to be the only pet in my household, because I will show extreme assertiveness if another doggy tries to move one of my toys etc. A work in progress to be sure. Perhaps in time... On the plus side, I am house trained! Right now I use pee pads just fine. Fun thrills for me: those enormous beef shin bones -- keeps me happy for hours. I also enjoy pulling the stuffing out of those cheap toys. Heehee. I bet once we get to know each other, I will hang out on your lap for belly rubs. See me enjoying getting loved up by the fella that found me in my video. I just need some time & patience. I think I would prefer a Male owner too.  Might be a little while before I can be taken for walks. I am making progress though. Once I feel safe with you, if you say 'beroon', I know that means to go out potty... then you should be able to snap on my leash.  My emotional scars are deep. I hope you can give me the chance with patient love to overcome the past and move into a bright future.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Looking for more furry friends? Donegal (Damoon) Breed: Lab/Husky/Shepard (Estrela Mtn Dog) Age: 3 months Gender: m, too young to neuter Wgt/Hgt: 15 lbs / 12 inches Energy level: moderate, average puppy Relations: good w/ dogs, cats / unknown kids, but since puppies, ok to learn Highlights: Relaxed, gentlemanly attitude, kind disposition, playful Looking to keep you moving down the middle of the road with your sights set on my awesomeness. I am an absolute gentleman, who is quite kind hearted. Me and my siblings (Denali & Domino) were found in the street when we were young puppies. Our mama died of an infection, so our rescuer made sure we would be safe. We are with her mother right now, but can only stay a limited time. We will have to go to a shelter soon, if we don't find homes. I should be around 65 lbs and perhaps 22 inches or so tall when full grown. There is a kitty in our current home, so we are fine with a cat. Although I haven't been around children yet, I am a young puppy still, so capable of learning to live with them. It would be nice to be able to go out and play like normal puppies, but sadly it isn't safe here in our country for us to do that. A moderate to chilled out home would be mighty fine with me. Being a puppy, I like to romp around, but I really enjoy just hangin' out and getting belly scratches, chomping on a toy & watching things around me. You know, the suave, sophisticated, observant James Bond type. Wink. Another doggie friend would be great. I have my sisters to play with right now, but it would be awesome to have a bud there too. So, what do you want to do first? Go to the beach? Snowshoeing? Bet I could learn to ski-jor. Maybe we could go for a nice country drive and take in the sights... well, the smells for me. Maybe a relaxing hike into the woods or maybe we could just take a snooze together watching a movie. Whatever we do, let's get moving down the highway on it, shall we? I have not been spayed/neutered, as I am too young yet. I am *vaccinated & micro-chipped though. My adoption fee is $600.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada. My spay/neuter is mandatory for my adoption to be finalized. Howdy to all of you people of B.C and Washington. What's it like over there in N.America - is it very dog friendly? I am Donnie from S.Korea and I am hoping to start a life with one of you lovely people. I'm a one year old, 15lb, 12 inch unique-looking little dog. I'm told I could be a mix of Jack Russell terrier and Japanese Chin, but really, who knows what any of us are really made of?  All I can say for sure is I have a very impish grin! When they first brought me to the pound after finding me wandering the streets of Yongin city, it was expected my owner would soon show up. The staff felt I had such a special look about me that someone would surely miss me and come looking. Sadly that didn't happen.  Before my time was up I was rescued from the pound by one of the volunteers who thought I was special. (She's right, by the way!) So now I am in a boarding facility while I wait for you to adopt me.  I am a very friendly dog, even allowing complete strangers to  pet me and pick me up.  Children are very welcome to come and play with me any time they want to and I will reward them with doggy kisses if they let me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH_fIcXCxeA&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGjppAH9uTETHb9qWINp3SL&index=4 When it comes to dogs, I am comfortable with all sizes, though I tend to be most playful with others similar to my stature.  I just love running around at the dog park and burning off some of my plentiful energy. I'll never say no to a walk or any other activity you care to suggest. The only thing you'll need to take care of is my sensitive paw pads which seem to get tender spots.  I think I might need little booties if I'm going to be spending lots of time in the snow. (I've heard Canada referred to as "The Great White North". Does that mean it snows all the time there? ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLj-Sx0jOi8&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGjppAH9uTETHb9qWINp3SL&index=2 I've also met cats and I have to say they seem pretty boring to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDyCkyuRLvg&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGjppAH9uTETHb9qWINp3SL&index=6 Other than that, I'm a healthy, spunky and fun little chap. I bet you can take advantage of my food motivation to train me to do all sorts of things, starting with my recall. Yep, I admit I need to work on that a bit, but if I had you to come back to it would be well worth it.  Can't wait to meet you and become your best friend ever. I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Hi. My name is Dreamer and you only have to look at my face to know why.   I am a 4 month old Samoyed/Jindo mix from South Korea. Right now I weigh 22lb and measure 17 inches to my shoulders. In my day-dreams I sometimes picture myself walking through the snow in Canada, just like a baby polar bear. Can you imagine it?  Let me tell you how I came to be staying at this shelter and waiting for you to adopt me.  A villager reported some stray dogs wandering around his property and so the firefighters were sent out to catch them. As they followed the dogs they came to a site where they discoverd two dogs chained to a tree and ten puppies locked up in cages. Inside one of those tiny cages were me and my sister, Dancer. It was pretty evident that we had all been without food or water for some time and when the firefighters tracked down the owner they learned he was in hospital in a coma. His family callously told them to kill us all.  Thankfully the firefighters refused to do this and instead took all 12 of us to a well-reputed private rescue group.  Phew - that's a tough start to life; basically born and raised in a cage. But, you know what, I am the sweetest, most gentle dog you could hope to meet. At first I can be a little shy, but once you start petting me, I never want you to stop. My gentle nature is especially evident with children. I give them little kisses on their hands to thank them for petting me.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ulG0QgKHUw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eERsOGiNodclDeW5csWMz12&index=3 When I meet big dogs I can be a little nervous, but I really like to be around little dogs. I'll follow them around with my tail wagging and happily play with them if they invite me to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JDlvY9vvgc&list=PL3UlJJYID8eERsOGiNodclDeW5csWMz12&index=4 As for cats, I find them mildly interesting, but there isn't an ounce of aggression in my fluffy body so you need never worry about me hurting a cat, or anything for that matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTGkNsR6Ya8&list=PL3UlJJYID8eERsOGiNodclDeW5csWMz12&index=7 The best way to describe me is mild, docile, quiet and , well........ dreamy.  I'm dreaming of my life with you right now.  Do dreams come true ?   (They call me Lime at the shelter, but you can call me anything you want....) I am still too young to be neutered, but I am microchipped and vaccinated and my adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada. Hi there, my name is Eddy. I am a very cute and affectionate 4-1/2 year old, 13 lb, small mixed breed pup who looks like I could be a Spitz/Dachshund mix. My sister Koala and I were found as puppies, wandering together in the streets of Tehran where our life expectancy was certainly little more than a few hours. We were born visually impaired, but this handicap doesn't hinder our ability to get around. Once we figure out the layout of our new home you would never know we were effectively blind. We can even climb stairs and sometimes enjoy sleeping on them. I had a home here in Canada for over a year. Unfortunate circumstances left my people unable to care for me any longer. So, they sadly, but graciously surrendered me back to LALDR to find me a new home. The transition left me rather out of sorts at first, but I'm doing much better now.  I just need a little time to get to know you, and then we're best friends! I am a loving and affectionate boy who gets very attached to my people. Due to my blindness, I can be anxious and panic a bit, but they have been dialing in the dose of my anti-anxiety meds and I am chilling out nicely.  I'm even getting along with all my foster siblings, but I do still get a bit overwhelmed with larger dogs. I am quite a social little guy and will come to my person for affection.  Did I mention that I love belly rubbs!  I also enjoy fresh air breaks on the balcony and love to sit outdoors and feel the sun on my face. Being with people makes my day and I don't mind other small dogs if they are respectful.  My favorite things are playing tug-o-war, chewing on my Benebone, and playing gently with socks...but only when they are on someone's foot. I love my treats (especially ham & sardines.) Mmmm.  When I got excited, such as when you come home after an absence, I run around joyfully in circles.  Even though I am mostly blind, I do have some vision in my right eye and can catch movement with it. I do have a bit of a head tilt as well, and have a habit of sticking one ear up to catch everything you say! Although I am mostly gentle, I am a bit nervous meeting new people (my foster Mom is helping me work on this), so a home that doesn’t have a lot of visiting children would suit me best. Strangers need to be aware that they can’t just grab at me and that is hard for young kids to understand. I am not able to see touches coming, so to avoid startling me it helps to make some soft sounds as you approach me. You will find me to be one of the chillest dogs that you are ever going to meet!  I will lie at your feet, snuggle beside you on the couch (if you let me!) and make you feel as loved as you've never before known!! I am going to need a patient adopter to help me adjust to new surroundings and trust that I am safe. Then I promise you will be richly rewarded with the best companion dog ever!    I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $400    Looking for more furry friends? Elvy here! You can call me Elvis, if ya want. I am a 5 year-old, cool, calm, collected dude from Bahrain. My rescuers think I might be a Saluki-mix, but regardless, I’m just a super duper cute mixed breed of Bahrain awesomeness. I am a good sized pooch, weighing about 65 pounds and standing about 28 inches tall. Big news, I am awesome with dogs and cats! Check out my video, I ain’t lying! (    ) I know, awesome right? Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. My siblings and I had a rough start in life. We were found on an abandoned worksite, along with our mom, when we were just newborn pups. Fortunately a kind watchman on the property looked after us until the construction project started. At that point, we were moved to a rescue centre. In 2017, I moved to a new rescue home, The Centre. The people here treat me very well, but I'm still patiently waiting for a family of my own. Oh how I long to have a home filled with love, treats, belly rubs, and walks! All about me: My rescuers say that I am very gentle natured, slightly shy in new situations, submissive, sweet, and very loving. I am also incredibly tolerant, as you can see in this video of me being jumped all over by puppies, new dogs, and cats (   ). I take it all in great stride! Oooh I also LOVE to walk! These big long legs were made for walking! (   ) I feel like I would quickly fall in love with hiking the big, beautiful mountains in Canada that I’ve heard so much about! I have been neutered, vaccinated & micro-chipped. I’m all ready to come to Canada any time!! My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, which includes my airfare to Canada.    Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Fido Papillon/Maltese 4 yrs M, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 11 lbs / TBA Activity level: moderate Relations: good with dogs / older kids okay / unknown cats Highlights: Needs time to learn trust with humans I was saved from a drug user who stole me and was trying to sell me for drug money. Being in a very bad health condition, I was taken to the vet. After a very long and expensive doctor bill, I started to gain my health back. My rescuer put my photos on a site yo find my owners. After a few months, someone called to say I was theirs. My rescuers were happy my family was found and so I went home... or so everyone thought. After a bit of time, the family said it was not their dog (guess us bitty ones look a lot alike.) So, another family adopted me. Again, my rescuers were happy. Until they found out the family had a developmentally disabled boy who would beat me. So, they got me back. It was a bit hard at first after that to be trusting of people. After a long process and lots of love, I am back to loveable & playful me. I tend to get scared right now though if you touch my back (near tail.) I will snap at you. This is only because I am uncertain. I will begin trusting you, if I see your behavior with other dogs. Once I know you won't hurt me, I warm up, then things are much better. I have plenty of energy and can play long periods without tiring. I like to play with my rescuers big dog. I get along with other dogs just fine. I am very smart and house trained. I can be a bit head strong, probably because of the people that used to beat me, so it may take a little time for me to trust you. Everybody seems to love me though. My charm and personality must shine through. I love to go out to my box at night to sleep. My rescuers have taught me things like come, sit and go out side to do potty. Of course, all thes commands I only know in Persian. So you may have to teach some English to him. I will likely pick it up quick, as my rescuer has said "I can easily say he is one of the smartest dogs I ever had." I am sure you will fall in love with me as soon as you see me. As you can see, I am fine with kids too. See my happy little friend holding me. I just need to have confidence in you, then I am okay. But, due to my current fear, older kids are probably best. Never been around cats, but I am good with other dogs. Looks like I have a bit of an underbite. It isn't a problem though. I could use a somewhat experienced owner, as I just need time to learn to trust and feel safe.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Gabby Breed: Feline, domestic short hair Age: 1 yr Gender: female, spayed Hgt/Wgt: 9 lbs Energy level: average Relations: good with cats & small dogs (big dogs unknown) / good with people Highlights: sweet, calm, curious, litter box trained Hi! I’m Gabby (no, not like the crazy doll from the movie). I’m a sweet and affectionate girl, and I’m looking for the perfect life companion. I’m a little bit of a mystery to my rescuers. Apart from probably being a cheetah descendant (just look at my dots), there’s not much info on my previous life. I was found on a trash bin in a city in the Middle East, but I was still tiny, so I don’t really remember. What they do know is that I am curious; it must be a part of my heritage. And since I like discovering new things, I could be the best match for an explorer. However, I’m also a person cat, so I love spending time with people in general. Imagine if it were to be my special person… the cuddles and chilling time would never stop.  I’m kind too, so I enjoy hanging out with other cats and dogs. I am very healthy now, and I’ve grown to be a beautifully orange feline (I love that word; it makes me think of my ancestors.) Bonus: I am litter box trained too. What are you waiting for? Click on that “adopt” button and bring me to your loving home in Canada. In return, I’ll make sure to bring endless love and sweetness to your family.    I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. The people who rescued me decided to put me down, as my surgery was very costly! Some other nice people got involved to help with surgery. They soon realised I have Parvovirus and had very little hope to live. After months of care I was strong enough to go through an extensive surgery, although my vet had very little hope for me to walk again. With physiotherapy and lots of love though, I started walking again. I still walk funny and drag my back leg on the floor just a bit! But you'd never know it seeing me buzzing around. Check out my video. Enough of tragedy, let me tell you more about me, I love food. I hadn’t had enough when I was on streets, so now I eat until I drop! Hint, that means I am food motivated to learn. I love all kinds of humans, but I am scared of other dogs. I am not aggressive with them though. I love just being petted and stroked. I have a good amount of energy as you can see, but will stop on a dime for tummy rubs. I am full of love to give. Not to mention my beautiful gaze. Would you give me a forever family?   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Golpari Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab Age: 5 yrs Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 51 lbs / 25-1/2 inches Energy level: moderate Relations: good with dogs, kids / unknown cats Highlights: Super sweet, people oriented I was found as a young pup of maybe 5 months old, living by the city garbage dump. I had very bad mange, as you can see by my photo. The people whom saved me transferred me over to a shelter. There, they treated me for mange, but each summer it came back. Until finally, they got some great stuff from the US to use. Now, my mange problem is gone and my fur has grown back in beautifully. See my bright Auburn coat? My rescuer says whoever adopts me won't be sorry. The shelter says I am the  sweetest, kindest dog around. I act real cute too. Here I am at the shelter: https://youtu.be/fZ0yWNOCeGg. I am loveable to people, dogs and even kids. I haven't been around cats though, so best a non kitty home, because I just have no idea how I would react to one. I am a playful girl too, so we should be able to have some good fun. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. GRACE Breed: Anatolian/Galgo (Spanish Greyhound) Age: 1-1/2 yrs Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 61 lbs /30 inches Energy level: moderate to active Relations: good with dogs / unknown cats & kids Highlights: Sweet, intelligent, Calm, love going out to explore, playful Region: Middle East Greetings Canadianites. I'm a spectacularite myself. A showy girl of beauty is what I'm told. If I were human, perhaps I'd be a model. As stories go, my mom was a stray dog who was very leery of trusting humans. Understandable in my country. She was having a lot of puppies. Finally, our rescuer was able to catch her. That was back when I was 2-3 months old. Our Mom was spayed and we were put in a foster home, till we got a older. My siblings are also listed with LALDR. I am a sensitive and sweet girl. Quite the looker yes, but also smart. I enjoy when you are happy, so I like to please you. I do need just a bit of assurance before trusting people. Give me a little bit of time and we're good though. It would be so very nice if we could spend lots of time together exploring the outdoors. Although I can be playful, I wouldn't mind snuggling on the couch either, as I love getting snuggled. Have another dog you say... no problem. A playmate would be an exceptional bonus. I have not yet been exposed to cats or kids, so not sure how it would be living with them. I would enjoy a moderate to active home. Those Canadian lakes and beaches sure sound like sonething a gal like me would enjoy. Don't you just love the way the sand squishes between your toes? Hurry up and get that app in for me. Times a wastin'. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Looking for more furry friends? Helium (Maloos) Breed: Domestic Short Hair Age: 1 yr Gender: m, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 8 lbs Energy level: average Relations: good with cats / unknown dogs & kids Highlights: bit shy, playful, disabled front paw Region: Middle East Ah, you are wondering about the name right? It's because, as you can watch in my main video, I can suddenly poof, vanish into thin air. Hahahaaaaaa. Nope, that bad paw doesn't slow me down at all. When I was found I had a broken leg and 2 broken bones in my paw. The vet said the nerves in my foot are cut off from the rest of my leg. So, in other words, I really can't feel it. I've learned to live fine this way though. See how mellow I can be just hanging around: https://youtu.be/d5fao54FZ3Q I am good with other kitties too: https://youtu.be/7FZi0dnqu0M, though I haven't hung out with the canine persuasion yet. Nor have I been around children. I can be a bit shy, so probably better to stay in an adult household or a home with older kids who can understand not to spook me. I don't care for strangers trying to touch me either. Give me some time and once I get to know you, I will play with you and be more willing to be petted. And I can provide you with some serious antics to laugh at too. Like my disappearing acts. I'm sure once you have me around, you'll be going into high pitched laughter.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $150.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
