About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

Marmalade (Babri) Breed: Spitz (Eurasier)/Golden Retriever Age: 2-1/2 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/hgt: 44 lbs/ 21-3/4 inches Activity level: average Relations: good with dogs/ kids likely/ unknown cats Highlights: Tripaw, friendly, loves human company, listens well Looking for a super friendly dog? Then, I'm your gal. My coat is a beautiful marmalade color and I am sweet as marmalade too. I was found badly injured by a road in the Middle East. My leg had been broken and healed improperly, so I needed that leg amputated. I am now part of that elite group of the dog tag carrying tripaw club. Don't let it worry you too much, I have learned to get around despite my handicap. I am super kind and I like other dogs and people too. I am quite polite with kids, though I don't have a video to prove it. I've not been around those purrball machines, so not sure what my reactions to them would be. If I had a home where I could hang with humans all day long, I would be in doggie heaven. I like to play like any pup, but it is nice to just chill at times too. I listen well to what you tell me... well, I am going to need to learn English to understand what you are wanting from me first. You wouldn't happen to be bilingual, would you? No matter, I am smart enough to learn commands in another language, if you will have patience and give me the time to settle and figure it out. I hear Canada has some superb beaches and trails and even something called a dog park. A park for us dogs? Whoa! Pretty amazing. Nothing even close to that here. Can't wait to run around one of those. All you gotta do is submit an application and I could be on my way to stick myself to your heart. Get it? Marmalade, sticky jelly like substance... aaah, you are giggling, aren't you? Like a bowl of hahaaa, yup you got it. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hi, sweet humans! I’m Milli and I’m searching for a forever home. Who am I? Well, I’m an adorable 3 year old mixed-lab pooch from Bahrain. I weigh a petite 44 pounds and stand 23 inches tall. My rescuers say that I am lovely and gentle. Bonus: I’m dog and cat friendly! Yup, you heard me correctly… bring on the furry friends! My story is a bit unknown. All my rescuers know is that I was a stray on the streets of Bahrain. They took me in when I was just a little pup and thank goodness they did! They have kept me safe and sound at the shelter ever since. It has been a few years now though and I reallyyyyy wish I had a home and a human to call my own. Check out my videos of me being friendly with kitty cats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzmMAvbhKl4&feature=youtu.be). Yup, I’m cool as a cucumber around cats! You can see that I wag my tail around both dogs and cats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYthIMXGXtI&feature=youtu.be). See? I’m a good girl and super friendly. What I REALLY love is humans though. Give me a nice ear scratch and a belly rub and I will literally become your BFF (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L11DKRZF00&feature=youtu.be). Ooooh I'm also pretty darn good on a leash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5cojkIcFi0&feature=youtu.be), okay... maybe I still have a bit of room for improvement (he he he). If you’re looking for a four-legged companion to love you endlessly, look no further! I am a moderately active, chill doggy who has a LOT of love to give (and deserves even more love in return!)  I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $500 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Three times unlucky, that's me. Three times I found an adopter over there in Canada and each time it has fallen through. Why, oh why can't I find someone to bring me home? I get that I don't have the appeal of a puppy or the looks of a Golden Retriever, but I have a ton of love in this compact little body of mine, and more personality than you could shake a stick at (hey, don't just shake that stick, let's play tug-o-war with it).  My name is Moe, I am around 3 years of age and resemble a jack russel/beagle mix. I weigh 26lb and am 16 inches to my shoulders. My previous owners tossed me out on the streets when they grew tired of me. I know - awful isn't it, but it happens all the time around here. Since then I've been living in this very crowded shelter in Shanghai and I have to admit, much as I enjoy the company of other dogs, this is ridiculous! There are just too many of us here and we all agree we could use a lot less doggyness and a lot more people-time.  All I need is one special person to really 'see' me. I know you're out there.  Check out my 'standing upright' move and maybe you'll realise I am the kind of dog who would be willing to master any trick you care to teach me, as long as it gets your attention and pleases you.   Human affection is something I can never get enough of:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MU6SXCMLjg&feature=youtu.be I dream of trotting happily alongside you on our daily walks; snoozing with my head on your lap as you watch t.v., comforting you with my steadfast love.  If you adopt me I promise I will never be cross with you or ignore you or take you for granted. You can do all those things to me, but I will love you to the end of my days. Because that's what dogs do.  Please make me yours and let me love you for ever.     I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $500 CAD + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   **Vaccinations: Dogs from China are vaccinated for rabies, distemper, parainfluenza, hepatitis, parvovirus. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Helloooooo, anybody out there? Are you looking for me? Tell me you've been waiting for a sweet 2-year-old, 13lb combo of Maltese and Yorkie (that's a Morkie, don't you know) who goes by the name of Mona.  I am very glad you found me.  It's getting awfully old being at this crowded shelter here in Shanghai and I'd really like to get on with my proper life; the one where you and I get to spend tons of time together and I get lots of cuddles.  When the city workers found me outside on the streets I was cold and hungry. Even though it's a terrifying experience to be scooped up and whisked off to an unknown destination, it was better than being left to starve.  Now that I'm living at the shelter I have regular meals and a roof over my head, but I really don't get much human attention. It was quite a treat to get some cuddles by the shelter manager when they made my video. I would thrive in a home where I could have that kind of affection every day.  The other dogs around here are cool; some of the smaller ones have become my buddies; but to tell the truth, it's a bit too crowded and I'm more than ready to move on.  I got to enjoy a rare bit of peace and quiet when they brought me to the laundry room to take a video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP_T9ADWHSU&feature=youtu.be Then they put a cat in here with me. I didn't mind that at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfC87H4e548&feature=youtu.be You know, it wouldn't take much on your part to change my life forever. Just fill out that adoption form then sit tight until this darn virus thing is under control. Once we're together we can put all this behind us and just focus on getting to know each other.  Doesn't that sound good?   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Hiya! I’m Myla, a beautiful Saluki Mix pup from Bahrain. I am two years old, weigh 55 pounds, and stand about 65cm tall. Aren’t I purdyyy? My rescuers describe me as a sweet and energetic dog who enjoys walks and cuddles – oh how I LOVES the cuddles! I am gentle with everyone I meet; hoomans, doggos, and kitty cats. Well, I may not be super excited about kitty cats, but as you can see from my video… I don’t seem remotely bothered by their presence.  What’s my story? I was rescued as a puppy (along with my mama and my three siblings) and have been living with my dog fam ever since. My mama (Sophia) was recently adopted and even though I’ll miss her soooo much, I’m so happy that she has a loving home to go to. I have doggy dreams of being adopted myself! Would you please consider giving me a furever home?  I LOVE my people and will always be more than happy to come to you for affection, food, or fun!   Being a young dog, I love to exercise! Perhaps we could check out some dog parks or some of the hiking trails I’ve heard so much about? I’m pretty chill once I’ve had my daily walk... maybe I could have a big comfy bed to cuddle up on while I nap?  My sweet face and loving nature makes me an ideal pupcake for any family or single person. Pleaseeeee give me a home!! I have been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Namaste (Negar) Breed(s): Hound/Blue Heeler Age: 1-1/2 yrs Gender: Fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 44 lbs / 21-3/4 in Relations: Good with dogs & kids / cats unknown Activity level: moderately active to active Highlights: Tripaw, very gentle demeanor, loves running, quick learner, polite Region: Middle East Namaste is a word you might’ve probably heard more than once, and it happens to be my name too. Isn’t it cool? It is a respectful greeting and I am a girl who shows respect. It’s really nice to know that I’m named after such a positive word, because that’s how I want my life to be from now on: full of positivity and love and just overall happiness. Sadly, the first part of my story wasn’t like that at all. I was found by the forest services the day after the Persian New Year, can you believe it? But well, in the Middle East, it’s not unusual to find cases like mine at any time of the year.    When my rescuer got the call that I was severely injured, she came to see me right away. My foot had been chopped off, so I was in a lot of pain and didn’t want to see anyone. However, there was something special about my rescuer, so I let her pick me up to take me to the vet. The vet couldn’t save my front leg. The infection was spreading fast to my upper body, so I needed to have my leg removed asap. Apparently, someone had hurt me with an axe days before I was rescued, so I lost a lot of blood and was really weak.  The recovery process was long; it took months after the surgery for me to come back to life, but with love, I managed to be fine again. That’s how I became the beautiful tripawd you see on the pictures. Now, I’m completely healthy and I have a very sweet and gentle personality even after everything I went through. I get along with other dogs (even the small ones), and I do like people. My rescuer says I’m mild mannered, so it’s really easy to be around me. What’s not easy, though, is that there’s not much space for me to run around the house. I’m a very energetic girl, and I love exercising. So it’s been complicated for me to get the physical activity I need (my missing leg isn’t a problem, you’ll see).  I love playing with the other dogs in the house (especially my best bud, Poneh, laying in photo with me) and running is my favorite sport. I’m the fastest around! But since it’s not allowed for people to walk their dogs outside in my rescuer’s country, I don’t get to do it often enough. And things don’t seem to be getting better any time soon here. Unfortunately, my rescuer’s husband just had a heart attack. Such a nice guy! So the family is moving closer to the hospital to an even smaller place.  They can’t have me with them anymore, despite them loving me as much as they do. We’re in an emergency state right now, because I’m being moved to a shelter as you read. I really don’t want to stay there for long, I’m a family girl. That’s why I’m here, trying to find a forever home in Canada. I’d love to live with a family that has kids who could play with me and if there’s a fenced yard to run around or someone who could take me out to exercise, I couldn’t be luckier. Also, I’m a very smart girl. I learn things with little effort, so I’m sure we can spend a great time playing, running and learning together. I know I can bring lots of love and happiness to my new home, so go click the “adopt” button. You won’t regret it. I’m not only pretty, but also smart and gentle. I know I can be a great companion. Namaste!   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hellooo to my future family! My name is Nana, pleasure to meet you! I’m a 1 year old retriever mix from Mexico. I'm an adorable cutie pie and weigh about 45 pounds (perfectly medium, if I do say so myself). Aren’t I a pretty girl? Word on the street is that I’m a total sweetheart too! My rescuers describe me as playful, happy, and easy-going. My past is a bit of a mystery, but if it was anything like most other strays in Mexico, it probably wasn’t ideal. Strays often struggle to survive in the hot streets and rarely have enough food or water. Luckily, I’m now safe and sound at the shelter! Although it is not luxurious, at least I have all of my necessities being met. Oh how I’d love to have a home to call my own though. Hanging out at the shelter, surrounded by other dogs, has allowed me to grow into a very tolerant young lady. I love other dogs, although I can be shy upon first introductions. Check out the video of me chillin’ with my doggy friends (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nsTrxRml5g&feature=youtu.be). See, I told you, I’m quite the catch! I long for a home of my own. I love people and I’d love to have endless ear rubs and belly scratches; treats and a cozy bed sound nice too. OOH also I’d love to go for lots of hikes and walks! I’ve heard soooo many good things about the beautiful Pacific North West… it really sounds like my cup of tea (or bowl of kibble, hehe). I’m still a young and youthful dog, so I have a moderate amount of energy. After a daily walk and maybe a trip to the dog park, I will gladly spend the afternoon snoozing beside you on the couch. Do you think you could be my furever family? I’d really like to find them soon! I am spayed and vaccinated. My adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   I just know you've been holding your breath, hoping that an adorable little she-bear of a dog would become available. You have, haven't you? Well, no need to wait any longer; here I am. My name is Orsa and I am a 10 month old Jindo/Spitz mix from South Korea. My weight is 29lb and I'm 17 inches tall. I was found on the streets of Pyeongtaek by the animal control people. They took me to the pound and put me up for adoption, but because I am a black dog, nobody here in S.Korea wants me. Why do people care what colour you are?  If it hadn't been for the kind people who rescued me from there, I would have been euthanised. The good news is I am happy and healthy and ready for love. I have lots of it to give in exchange; I'm a dog who loves people. Unlike some rescue dogs, I am even friendly with complete strangers. (Check out my video. You'll notice the name they use is Lexi, but you can choose your own name if you adopt me.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofdii0po1vw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGkwG7XOe64M1Jcp-GVDo91 When introduced to children I'm so happy I'll wiggle my entire body and roll on my back to let them pet my belly. I'd make a good family dog (please note LALDR policy regarding children) and a great walking companion as I'm good on leash. Though I get along fine with other dogs, I'm much more interested in people. That's why I can't wait to have a human family of my own. We'll have so much fun together.  I really enjoy playing with toys, doing nose work and going for walks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UX5BgJfuow&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGkwG7XOe64M1Jcp-GVDo91&index=3 I have been introduced to cats and I admit they made me slightly nervous. I'm sure I'd get used to them if I shared my home with one. I certainly don't have any aggression toward them; I'm a lover not a fighter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX8dpFmJti8&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGkwG7XOe64M1Jcp-GVDo91&index=6 It's a wee bit embarrassing to tell you this, but I sometimes get so excited when I meet people that I release a teeny bit of urine. It's called 'excitement urination' and it's something that I will outgrow. I just thought you should know.  You do still like me, don't you? Anyway, that's enough about me. What matters now is that you get to decide if I'm the one.    I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $600 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. This is NOT a dog belonging to LALDR. This is a courtesy posting. Please do not contact us, as we know nothing about the dog. For more information, please contact ayaladia@ualberta.ca Pancha is a sweet, loving girl rescued and currently living in Mexico. She came to us after a life outside and after being neglected by her previous owner. She has adapted to an inside life quickly and is full of love to give. Pancha has some leash anxiety that she is currently working through: she is great with other dogs in her pack, but barks to other dogs in the street during walks. She would do best in a home with patient, breed savvy owners, that have the love and energy she needs to enjoy her new life indoors. Pancha is very food motivated and learns quickly. She needs some basic recall training. She sits happily for a cookie and to receive her meals. Pancha would be good with dog savvy kids, she grew up playing with kids in the streets of Mexico. She currently lives with two cats and she enjoys following the cats around, but has never been aggressive towards them. If you have experience and think this sweet girl would be a great addition to your family, please contact us. The adoption fees would cover part of Pancha's relocation costs, but vaccination, deworming and spay surgery (all which have been done) are on us!   If you are interested in Pancha, please email ayaladia@ualberta.ca show less

Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Can I please come home with you and snuggle up by your side? That's what I want more than anything - someone to cuddle. My name is Pansy and I have been waiting for someone to adopt me for over 2 years now!! Surely it's my turn. I am 3 1/2 years old, 21lb and 15 inches tall. You can tell from the photo they took when I first arrived that I've put on a few pounds, but I'm hoping that I'll slim down a touch once you start taking me for walks. We don't have a chance to do that here because there are just too many dogs. Instead we get to wander around and play with each other if we feel like it. That must be how those other dogs stay slim, I suppose. Me, I'm more the calm, laid-back kind of dog. Since being picked up as a stray and brought to this busy shelter, I've adjusted to the chaos by finding my inner peace. Maybe I can help you de-stress a little by sitting on your lap or providing soothing vibes while you stroke my fur. Oooh, doesn't that sound good?  Don't get me wrong, I would like a little stroll around the neighbourhood as well. Just don't expect me to go jogging with you. I'm such a mellow girl that I'm sure I could live with your cat or even another dog, if you like. Just please tell me I'll finally get the chance to feel loved.   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hiya friends, Peachy here! I am a purrdyyy 6 year old lab-saluki mix pooch looking for my furever family. I'm 23 inches tall and weigh about 55 pounds - a perfect size, if I do say so myself!  My mama and her 6 newborn pups (including me!) were found on an abandoned worksite near a mall in Sitra in 2014. For a while, a nice local watchman was feeding us and keeping us safe... but then one weekend the whole site got cleared for construction and we had no safe place anymore. Luckily, my rescuer found us, got us in her car, and tried to get us adopted. Unfortunately, only 2 of my siblings were adopted, so the rest of us remained in a shelter until 2017. Then BARC (Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre) took us in and they have been trying to find us homes ever since! My rescuers don't know why I haven't been adopted yet; you see, I'm quite the catch! I am excellent with doggies and kitty cats (check out my video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpZ3_M6p_VU&feature=youtu.be ) and I LOVE attention from my hoomans! Ear scratches, belly rubs, couch cuddles, walks... you name it, I love it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iO8NHmUJcLE&feature=youtu.be Still not convinced? Check out how I give gentle kisses to people who treat me nice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3yZTUnEMzY&feature=youtu.be Being a youthful middle-aged pup, I will be a great companion for just about anyone! I am pretty mellow after I've had my daily walk and I would loveeee to curl up beside you for a snooze. Sounds pretty awesome, right?! Pretty please won't you be my FUREVER family? I'd forever repay you with kisses, tail wags, and companionship. I have been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is $500 + applicable taxes, which includes my flight to Canada! Phoenix (Bahrain) - Pending Adoption

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Greetings!! My name is Phoenix and I’m a handsome two-year old collie/lab mix pup from Bahrain. I weigh about 45 pounds (a wee bit chunky, hehe) and have striking white markings on my fur. Not to be biased or anything… but I’m pretty darn awesome, and oh-so cute! I was dumped at the gates of the dog shelter when I was just a small puppy. For some reason, my original hoomans didn’t want a cutie patootie like me! Luckily, Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) has been taking such good care of me my whole life… but it’s been almost two years now and oh how I long to have a home to call my own. Boy do they ever love me here! I love people and I’m good with kids (check out my belly rub pictures—that’s my hooman friend who is 10 years old… we get along great!). Good news, I get along well with other dogg-o’s too! I haven’t been tested with cats, so I’m not sure how I’d do around the feline-type.  As a young, energetic dude, I’d love to have an active family to call my own and it would be SWEEET if they had a backyard for me to run around in. As you can see, I have a wee bit of a belly… so I’m going to need healthy snacks and daily walks to get me back into shape (my summer bod awaits!). Ahhh I can see it now: days spent sniffing the fresh Canadian grass, feeling the cool breeze through my soft fur, doggy zoomies around my yard, perhaps chasing a ball… OOH add in some belly rubs and yummy treats… WOW, yeah that sounds gooooood! Looking for a four-legged companion? Want lots of doggy kisses and active adventures? Look no further, please adopt me! I promise to repay you with tail wags and unconditional love! I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.
