About A FOSTER Dog Application

This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.

Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.

If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.

What is fostering?

  • Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.

What does it cost?

  • As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency

What if I can only foster a small dog?

  • We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.

What if I only want to foster a puppy?

  • Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun!

What if I want to adopt?

  • If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.

I only want to foster a specific dog.

  • If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found.

We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog.

Regards

Foster Team

OMG, I can't believe I could be talking to my future mom or dad!  I'm beyond excited right now.  My name is Lena and I currently live in a shelter in Bahrain. I'm around 2 years old, a pittie/lab mix of 60lb and 25 inches tall. I was rescued from a cruel person who used me as a bait dog in a dog-fighting business. It's unbearable to think about, I know. I still have some scars on my body from that time, but it's something I don't think about any more. Despite everything, I am one incredibly friendly dog. Everyone I meet deserves a wagging tail and a sloppy kiss. And if you let me cuddle up to you I will be the happiest girl in the world - I love cuddles!  I tend to be submissive with other dogs so can sometimes be bullied. But if you have a sweet dog in your home already I would be more than happy to share you with him or her. I confess I have chased the few cats I've seen around here, so I probably should go to a cat-free home. I'm a fairly active dog who loves to go for walks or have the chance to run around the yard.  Can you picture the two of us taking lovely walks together side by side? I can. If you were to pick me from all the dogs on this site, I would think I'd died and gone to heaven. Please make my dream come true.     I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Hey, hey, Leonie has entered the room!  Well, the website anyway.   I'm so excited to have this chance at connecting with you.  I am a one year old Akita/Jindo mix from S.Korea. My weight and height are 42lb and 17 inches.  My rescuer bought me from a man driving a truck full of puppies. We were all piled on top of one another and in pretty bad condition. The rescuer told the man he would buy all the puppies from him, even though some of them were too ill to survive.  I was one of the lucky ones who made it and now I am completely healthy and ready to come and live with you! If you have been looking for a very friendly dog who loves to socialise with everyone, whether they be dogs or people, then you've come to the right place. I'm a happy girl who enjoys playing with other dogs and loves to be petted by anyone and everyone. Here I am surrounded by adoring children and I'm loving every minute of it!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz8GvuSbH-4&list=PLhW1tPKt15h4eBHv7a2sj4lOKzVs9NFAx&index=4 I've been introduced to cats and, to be frank, I'd prefer to avoid them, but if I had to live with one, I could put up with it. Here I am trying hard not to meet a cat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1ztoT5ApcM&list=PLhW1tPKt15h4eBHv7a2sj4lOKzVs9NFAx&index=3 My energy is just about medium I'd say. I love going for walks, romping off leash with dog-friends, but can happily settle down at the end of the day and keep you company. Even if you go out for a while, I'm fine - I wouldn't say no to a peanut-butter-stuffed Kong or a toy to play with while you're gone though! What do you say we start the New Year off with a celebration that you've adopted me?   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Name: LIZZIE, female Breed : Shepherd/Retriever mix Age/Weight: 10 weeks/ 8lb Location: Kuwait     Hey, hey, check it out - I've climbed inside this basket and I'm pretty darned proud of myself!  Every day I learn something new. Life is exciting when you're a young puppy.   I was found, along with my mom and 8 siblings when we were just a week old. We were living in a very dangerous area where the city workers routinely poison stray dogs.  Thankfully we are all safe in foster care now and ready to find our forever homes.  I am likely to grow to a medium sized dog like my mom who measures 20 inches tall. At a guess, that could be somewhere between 35 to 45lb. Me and my sister Elsa are smaller than our brothers (and prettier too!). In addition to be the smallest in the litter, I am also the most polite; you won't see me pushing in front of the others to get to my food. I'm a calm and feminine puppy and there is a look of intelligence in my eyes. My carers say I am the smart one!    I do love attention and love from people but would likely be O.K as an only dog in the family.  The best thing in the world would be to have my very own human family to love.   I am too young to be spayed, but I am microchipped an have had my first set of puppy vaccinations. My adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Calling all you dog-lovers out there. I could really use a home right about now. I've had enough of shelter life. My name is Lollie and I am a one year old, 35lb Retriever/Jindo mix from S.Korea. I measure 20 inches to my shoulders and have a lovely grey brindle coat. It's really quite unusual. I was spotted sitting outside the gates of the airforce base as though I was waiting for someone. It's quite likely that I was, but to be honest, I really can't remember. A lot has happened to me since then and not all of it good.  First of all I was picked up and taken to a scary place called the city pound.  It reeked of fear. Dogs don't have very long there. Fortunately for me one of the volunteers fell for my unique looks and gentle nature and she got me out and brought me to a much safer, small shelter. That's where I am now, until you send for me. If you're in the market for a gentle, calm dog who is good with children, dogs and cats, then you have come to the right bio. I'm the kind of dog who has good manners built in to my genes. I greet other dogs with appropriate body language so we all get along. Although I wouldn't describe myself as a particularly playful kind of dog, I am certainly happy to share my space with canine companions.  Look at me surrounded by children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMzEzonO8dA&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEYiCKwrCWiuAjSCK8mGTib&index=2 In fact, I could easily live with a cat too; I'm equally polite when meeting felines.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71wlGkKFvgM&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEYiCKwrCWiuAjSCK8mGTib&index=4 Going for walks is something I really enjoy, though I admit that I can be timid in new places and will sometimes freeze if you pull on my leash. My carers here will sometimes just pick me up and carry me along when I do that, but it's really not necessary. I just need a moment to recover my confidence before we continue.  Once I'm familiar with the neighbourhood I'll do so much better.  If you're looking for a super high energy dog then I don't fit the profile. I'm probably more of a low-medium kind of guy. A couple of walks a day, lots of time to hang out with my people, maybe some cuddles here and there, that's all it takes to make me happy.  So how about it? Shall we start to plan our future together? Please say yes.   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. I'm sure to be a head-turner with my charming good looks and adorable face!   I have been at the shelter in Bahrain my whole life, so about 2 years now. Needless to say, I'm SO ready for a home to call my own! I wonder what it would be like to have my own humans who love me dearly, feed me lots of yummy treats, and take me for adventures. Being a young lad, I have a good amount of energy (not crazy though... he he he), so I will be a great adventure companion. Hikes, walks, trips to the dog park... you name it, I'm pretty sure I'll love it! Oh, I also LOVES the belly rubs!! Pleaseee give me alll the belly rubs! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5moOTq0Tpc&feature=youtu.be)   My rescuers speak very highly of me; I am super sweet and LOVE attention. Can you blame me, who doesn't love belly rubs and human affection?! Check out the picture of me smiling with my rescuer... look how shiny my pearly whites are! I'm awesome with other dogs, seeing as I've lived with 10 other dogs my whole life! Check out this video of me surrounded by other pups... pretty tolerant of me, eh? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG89EzjMTX4&feature=youtu.be) If you happen to have another furry canine companion in your house, I'm sure we'd get along great! If not, I'd love to socialize with other dogg-o friends at the dog park or at daycare. I'm a social butterfly, what can I say! Ooh another bonus... I'm excellent with kitty cats! Check out my video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd9jJ1-MwNo&feature=youtu.be)   If you think you'd like to have me join your family, pleeaaseee fill out an application! Have you ever seen such an adorable pair of sisters? Well, you could bring us home and get to see our two smiley faces every day. We'd really, really love that.  We are about 18 months old, approximately 45lb and 24 inches tall. We look like Shepherd/Kelpie mix dogs and we're here in Bahrain waiting for you to send for us. There were three of us originally, left in a cardboard box on the doorstep of the shelter when we were just days old.  At that point we needed round-the-clock care in order to survive without our mom so we were placed in a foster home.  By the  time we were strong enough to be moved the shelter our foster mom had fallen in love with all three of us. She could only take one, so we parted ways with our third sibling and Ruby and I have been living at the shelter ever since. Given our sweet, friendly natures you'd think we would have been adopted by now. But maybe it's because we are so closely bonded and need to go to a home together that it hasn't happened here in Bahrain. Between you and me, these people just don't realize that we bring double the love, twice as much fun and have the added benefit of keeping each other company when we're left alone. We are the kind of dogs who really enjoy going for walks so would be delighted to find a home with someone who likes that too. We get along very well with other dogs, are indifferent to cats and really love all people. Please can you help us finally leave the shelter and start living the kind of life we hear about.  I dream of sharing a home with a human family who love us. I know it will happen one day. Can that day be tomorrow please?   We are spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and our joint adoption fee of $900 CAD includes our airfare to Canada. show less

Hiya everyone!  My name is Lusa and I am a 2 year old, sweet, and beautiful female Chow-Chow/Jindo mix from South Korea. I weigh 37 lbs and stand about 22 inches tall; a perfectly medium-sized pooch, if I do say so myself! Before we get into discussing my ahmazinggg personality, I should probably tell you my story first. I was rescued from a frightening and very overcrowded dog pound in Hwa-Sung City, which is known for it’s high turnover of dogs and very limited space. Needless to say, this was not a very nice start to my life. Luckily, my amazing rescuers found me and moved me to a safe place where I was well cared for and could stay while I waited for my fur-ever family to find me and fall in love. During my time at the shelter, I was introduced to lots of other dogs, people, and kids. You can see how excited I am to be out of my pen and meeting children here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9R8TW7_rJ8&list=PLhW1tPKt15h4YqtwukPgNz-rAzltxrh5q&index=3. I'm a very good girl when it comes to meeting other pups, and the little ones are my favorite!  I know that, because they are smaller than me, I need to be more gentle, well behaved, and respect their comfort zone. Sometimes when I meet the bigger doggies I get verryyyy excited; I mean... they're more my size and that makes them LOTS of fun to play with. Because I can be a weee bit "too much" upon first introduction to bigger dogs, my rescuers always introduced me on-leash first. They were never worried though, because I showed absolutely no signs of aggression, I just want to be best friends with everyone!! Here's a video of me getting to know a little dog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzDkj-dXtNA&list=PLhW1tPKt15h4YqtwukPgNz-rAzltxrh5q&index=4   UPDATE: Lusa here... guess what?! I'm in CANADA! I am currently being fostered here and my foster pawrents call me Luna.. they love me LOTS and describe me as both quirky and incredibly affectionate. Look at me giving my foster-dad some lovin'... check out that tail wag and all those kisses (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXCn-Wm_5LE&feature=youtu.be). I'm a kind girl who never barks or growls at my people; all I do is follow my people around and give them endless kisses! I have a funny habit of running around in circles when I'm reeallll excited, heehee. Since being fostered, my pawrents have been introducing me to a whole world of different sights, sounds and smells, and while I DO love my dog-buddies, my absolute FAVE thing in the world is people! I LOVES the people!! I just can’t help but show my love and affection to everyone I meet; I'm always happily and excitedly wagging my tail while I wait for them to pet me.  We have been meeting people of all types, and I love them! I will admit, I can occasionally be afraid of strangers and may do a teeny growl, however there is not an aggressive bone in my adorable body and with proper introductions, I'm sure I will grow out of my fears.  My ideal home would be, first and foremost, one with a loving person or family (the more the merrier!) who can give me all the belly rubs and attention I missed out on during my puppyhood in South Korea. I am a HIGHHH energy pup who needs an active home and a fenced yard to play in. It would be grrrreat for me to have another doggie friend to explore my new home with and show me the ropes; it would actually be a big bonus for me and would help me to burn off some of my ample energy. Because I can be a bit jumpy ('cuz I'm just SO darn excited to see you!!), I would do best in a home without elderly people or small children that could get knocked over by accident. Full disclosure, I probs should go to a home with no cats because I seem to like chasing those furry felines around every now and then (woopsie!). OOH, I'm also a really good girl in the car! Can you say roadtrips?!  Check out the video of me playing with my ball at my foster home - aren't I adorably fun? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=489EUKLP0BQ&feature=youtu.be If you're looking for a furry four-legged friend and you like to go for lots of walks, hikes, and active adventures, look no further! I hope that I will finally find my loving furever family soon and I can make your doggie dreams, and mine, come true!   I am spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada.    Looking for more furry friends? Macaroon (Rosie) Breed: Terrier/German Shepard Age: 3 years old Gender: Female, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 30 lbs Energy level: Medium Relations: Good with Dogs / unknown cats & kids Highlights: Quiet and Friendly Hello from the Middle East! My name is Macaroon, a sweet young lady, with a kind disposition and cute terrier button nose. My rescuer noticed me among the local strays that she was feeding. I was smaller and more timid than the other big dogs, and unfortunately those dogs sometimes attacked me. One day my injuries were more acute, so I was brought to a local vet. Fortunately from there, once I received treatment for multiple bite marks and a bleeding ear, I was moved over to the shelter instead of going back on the streets. Well darling reader, I'm very comfortable in a home setting - so much so, that my caregivers suspect I even had a family once. This means I'm most happy when I'm with my people. Now I just need to find my family in North America! A true forever family this time. The people at the shelter are lovely, and it's nice to interact with so many other dogs, https://youtu.be/TFGv4sAyUx8. Ultimately, though, there is no substitute for a loving home where I can feel secure and loved for the rest of my days. Really, I'm just a big-hearted fluff ball who is ready to charm your socks off. How about potential companions? https://youtu.be/xL9Pq1w0QOI. Well, I haven't been tested with cats or children. Due to my quiet nature, and my turbulent time on the streets, I'd really like to be in a calm home environment, with people who have lots of time to spend with me. That would be living the dream! I wouldn't mind a doggy mentor who can help me adjust to life in Canada either. Although having you all to myself sounds pretty great too. I should be able to come at the end of next month, but only if I have an approved adopter. What do you think? Have you got a terrier-shaped space in your life that this cutie can fill? If so, please consider clicking the adopt button.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. Hello from South Korea. I am Mango, a 2 year old female Jindo mix with a nature as sweet as my namesake fruit.  I weigh almost 29lb and am 23 inches tall. When I was found as a stray on the streets of Hwaseong City I was taken the the pound. Shortly after my arrival there it was decided that the pound would be shut down and those dogs that weren't adopted by a certain date would be euthanized. At the last minute a volunteer saved me from that fate and I am now safe in a private shelter until I find my forever home.  As is typical of many Jindo's I have a very trusting nature. I'll gladly roll over on my back and present my lovely belly to complete strangers. I'll stand calmly while children pat me and stroke me all they want and wouldn't dream of walking away until they've had their fill. You have to be patient with little people I find!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVidyMkfJiw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eHfqPs1_T9kQ9uzIDr1U6tD&index=6 Look how I meet this strange man with a hood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8lf5DcD9y0&list=PL3UlJJYID8eHfqPs1_T9kQ9uzIDr1U6tD&index=4 I also have good manners with my interactions with other dogs. I greet them very nicely and let them show me if they are interested in play before I make assumptions. It's the best way to make friends and it's why I get along with dogs of just about any size.   Much as I enjoy playing with dogs I would probably describe myself as a dog of more moderate energy. I'm great on the leash; don't pull at all and I would really enjoy going for regular walks with my own special person. If you live with a cat, I would be respectful of him or her. Though I tend to be curious at first, I'll soon mind my own business if your cat prefers that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTKtUz22UR4&list=PL3UlJJYID8eHfqPs1_T9kQ9uzIDr1U6tD&index=2 When I first come to live with you I might be a little spooked by loud noises, but other than that I will probably settle in very well. Especially if you like giving belly rubs! Me and my lovely belly will be right here waiting for you to send for us.........   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Marmalade (Babri) Breed: Spitz (Eurasier)/Golden Retriever Age: 2 yrs Gender: M, neutered Wgt/hgt: 44 lbs/ 21-3/4 inches Activity level: average Relations: good with dogs/ kids likely/ unknown cats Highlights: Tripaw, friendly, loves human company, listens well Looking for a super friendly dog? Then, I'm your guy. My coat is a beautiful marmalade color and I am sweet as marmalade too. I was found badly injured by a road in the Middle East. My leg had been broken and healed improperly, so I needed that leg amputated. I am now part of that elite group of the dog tag carrying tripaw club. Don't let it worry you too much, I have learned to get around despite my handicap. I am super kind and I like other dogs and people too. I am quite polite with kids, though I don't have a video to prove it. I've not been around those purrball machines, so not sure what my reactions to them would be. If I had a home where I could hang with humans all day long, I would be in doggie heaven. I like to play like any pup, but it is nice to just chill at times too. I listen well to what you tell me... well, I am going to need to learn English to understand what you are wanting from me first. You wouldn't happen to be bilingual, would you? No matter, I am smart enough to learn commands in another language, if you will have patience and give me the time to settle and figure it out. I hear Canada has some superb beaches and trails and even something called a dog park. A park for us dogs? Whoa! Pretty amazing. Nothing even close to that here. Can't wait to run around one of those. All you gotta do is submit an application and I could be on my way to stick myself to your heart. Get it? Marmalade, sticky jelly like substance... aaah, you are giggling, aren't you? Like a bowl of hahaaa, yup you got it. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.  show less

Mason (Manny) Breed: Am. Eskimo/Swiss Shepard/Spaniel Age: 2 yrs Gender: m, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 31 lbs / 27-1/2 inches Energy level: moderate to active Relations: good with dogs, kids / unknown cats Highlights: low shed, social, likes vegetables Howdy. My rescuer found me at a shelter in the Middle East. She was originally there looking for a smaller dog, but I wasn't going to let the opportunity pass me by. I kept following her around and trying to give her lots of lovins. It worked, she decided to take me out to find me a proper home. I love people and constantly have a smile on my face. Upbeat, that's me. Looking on the sunny side.  Eating vegetables is something I really like. Of course, getting food is always welcome after living in a shelter. I get along well with other dogs and kids too. Surprisingly for my country, where men are usually the perpetrators of cruel things against us dogs, I am not afraid of men. I have never been exposed to cats though. Not to worry about my face in the one photo. I had some benign fatty tissue removed below it. The fur grew back and I am handsome me again. A fairly active home would be good. I would love to go places to play, run around and visit everyone. Hoping you have a buddy for me, but if not I am more than happy to lavish my love on you.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.    My adoption fee is $550.00 CAD, this includes my airfare to Canada.    Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.   Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters.
