About Jasper

ATTENTION, ATTENTION!!!!!!!! My name is Jasper Mcfluffbutt and I am looking for my PERFECT family. What is the perfect family you ask? Well, I would love a fur-sister that I can run around and play with. My family also needs to be active. I love hiking and using my sniffer. Foster mom is teaching me and my sister how to use the sniffer to find food in a box, and she says I am something called "super-trainable" and "smart". I think it’s fun and mom calls it nose work. I also tried some called agility and I LOVED that. Running around and jumping over things?!? How is that not fun?! Foster mom says I’m a natural and can really go places. I mean, I’m down to go places to do the jumps. After a long day of sniffing or running or jumping, I like to cuddle with my foster mom. She says that after an active day, I am super-cuddly and love to lounge on the couch.

I’ve never meet these tiny humans mom calls kids but I get super excited when I meet new people that I herd them and sometimes jump on them. Mom says old kids would be fine but my new family must have herding dog experience. I also need to go to obedience classes because who doesn’t love learning?! I mean come on! I’m a border collie after all. I am a good boy in my crate and I go the bathroom outside. My foster mom says I have to also tell you I’m about 30lbs of pure manly muscle, and I take my flea and tick medication and heartworm medication every month like a good boy. So I sound absolutely perfect right?! I know, so go put in an application so foster mom can call you and talk to you about the best dog in the WORLD, MEEEEE!!!!

Say hello to Sherlock! Sherlock is a young border collie x black bear that showed up in a shelter in North Carolina. Fortunately, one of our devoted rescue ladies in that area ended up pulling him and his brother-from-another-mother, Watson, from the shelter for us, and now they're making Richmond home. While Sherlock, true to his namesake, was a bit shy and retiring at first, this guy is a spitfire once you get to know him. Bold, energetic, friendly, confident, and athletic, Sherlock is going to make one heck of a companion down the line. Right now, Sherlock is about 16 weeks old. He's been exposed to dogs and cats and has no problems with either. Because of his exuberence, he will not be placed in a home with young children as he is a BIG BOY... 16 weeks old and already tipping the scales at a hefty 33 lbs. He is also tall, and goes right over a baby gate if he thinks there is something interesting on the other side. He loves women (he's SUCH a ham) and will nibble gently on his foster mom when he's happy. He loves This guy is kind of the perfect little puppy. He chews (mostly) his own toys (will steal shoes if allowed... he's got a little bit of a shoe fetish), picked up housetraining in a hot second, and plays well with other dogs, though he is at the age where terrorizing other, older dogs is a new type of fun. He is learning respect for other dogs but does back off when absolutely requested. He is crate trained and sleeps well in his crate all night, though he will promptly wake up at 6:30 to tell you to let him outside. Sherlock is going to be a big boy, and has already been exposed to clicker training and some agility equipment and done well, so may make a good casual sport prospect. He is HIGHLY food motivated and has been exposed to a variety of rewards (dried fish is his favorite so far). He also loves playing tug and does "the big stompy feet" when he gets excited. He is still learning that the leash is okay and will need someone to work with him on obedience. He also loooooves other dogs and would love to have a very playful brother or sister. This guy has a big personality to go with his big stompy feet, and is a little bit of a trickster along with always being open for a snuggle. He is fairly well adjusted and is learning about new kinds of people. He is up to date on vaccinations and ready to go to a new home who is going to treasure his amazingness. Who wants a large, white forever-puppy made of sunshine and joy? Would you look at this extremely happy boy! This is Wally, a one-year old double-merle pup who is our special-needs love bug. Wally is deaf and experiences some sight impairment, but he has never let that slow him down any or distract him from his primary purpose of being with the people he adores. This guy absolutely ADORES people (and food, but mostly people), and wants to be a part of your life. His happiness and enthusiasm is boundless and he always has the biggest smile on his face! Wally came to us from a shelter in North Carolina, where he was found as a stray and then - surprise! - turned out to be deaf. He was placed with a foster who is a professional dog trainer for training and socialization. We know he can see shapes and light, but do not know how much detail he can see. His depth perception is lacking and will need help getting into and out of vehicles. He has learned sign language, but it needs to be performed close to his face. We have worked on recall and attention with a vibrating collar that works with a manual remote. Wally is house and crate trained. He walks well on a leash and has learned some basic obedience skills. He is good with other dogs and cats. Wally does have some food aggression and would need to be fed in a crate, but that's a small price to pay for the kind of love and adoration that just emenates from this boy like sunshine. Because of his deafness, he has some nuisance barking when he's alone and can't sense his people, therefore he wouldn't be suitable for apartment living. Wally wants nothing more then to be with his person. He is UTD on vaccines, is heart worm negative, and neutered. He is 1 year old. Wally is available for adoption through To qualify for adoption, you must have your own pets up to date on vaccines, heartworm preventative, and heartworm testing. Evidence of titering is accepted in lieu of a vaccination record. For questions about Wally, please e-mail saveourherdersoutreach at gmail dot com. show less
