About Daisy

Hi future mom and/or dad,

My names Daisy and am a 11 year old Beagle. I might be mature and curvy, but I have the spirit and heart of a dog half my age. I want two things in life running around in a very secure fence (like to dig my way out) and to snuggle with you. I love belly rubs. I also love short walks around the neighborhood.

I do have some minor health issues. I tore my ACL on my back left knee in September of 2017 year. BBRH paid for my surgery last.  I limp from time to time. I have arthritis in the back, knee, and paws. For the knee and joints I receive a daily dose of a joint chewy and fish oil. I have seasonal allergies and I take Benadryl to help relieve my symptoms. I take a weekly pill (DES) for urinary incontinence. I was told by the vet that this issue is common in old gals.

I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus of the toenail. My foster mom looks at my toenails weekly to make sure none are infected or bleeding.  At this time, no medication is required. When the Lupus worsens I will need to take a low dose of a steroid pill daily.

I get along with the 3 resident cats. I avoid them they avoid me, a win-win situation. My foster mom has a middle-age Beagle that I love hanging out with in the backyard and a younger dog that is too much for my mature self.

I am seeking someone that is home most days for I can keep an eye on the squirrels. I would love to have another dog to snuggle and to help patrol the yard with me. Since, I have joint issues and older I prefer no young kids in the household. I'm being fostered in Lincoln, NE.  My adoption fee is $150.00.

Love, Daisy

If you look into my eyes, you will fall in love, but I am here to tell you that I am looking for someone who can show me what real love is! My name is Amber and I came from a home with 19 other field trial Beagles, although it is believed that I was used more for breeding than for running rabbits. l am a little shy with people since I did not have much interaction with them throughout my life but I am figuring out that I really like to be petted. I am more timid when you are up and walking around but I will search you out for pets if you are sitting down. I have even decided that I like my belly rubbed! I lived in an outdoor kennel that had an indoor space with a doggie door to an outdoor run. Although I have never lived inside a house until now, I have not had any accidents in my foster home since the first night I arrived. Since I have not yet figured out how to tell my foster mom when I need to go, I just hold it until she lets me out. I like my kennel and feel like it is my safe space. I am good with other dogs but can be a little overprotective of my space and I ignore the resident cat. I will need a home with a fenced in yard because I am pretty scared when on a leash. I could learn how to walk on a leash but I would need someone with patience to teach me. I am approximately 6-8 years old and am a little overweight at 35 pounds. I am up to date on all my vaccinations and have been spayed and micro chipped. My adoption fee is $225. Are you kind and patient and willing to show me what real love is? If you have answered yes, then please contact Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland, I will be waiting! show less

Hello world! My name is Beaker (like my favorite Muppet) and I am 8months old and 20 lb. purebred male beagle with LOTS of love! I was recently released from a testing facility, but I do not really remember it. I am not scared of humans, or other dogs, or toys, or food, or snow, or noises, at all! The vet said I was one of the most social lab beagles he has ever seen. My favorite hobbies include throwing the ball for myself (I am so fascinated with how they ROLL?!), snuggling on your lap, and eating. Boy, I love treats. I know sit, but sometimes I am so excited for that treat that I forget. I am working on potty training and still have a couple accidents, but I am learning that I get a treat when I go outside (it is awesome!) My foster mom says I can be naughty, but I am super cute, so then she just laughs. Naughty (in case you are curious) apparently means taking hand towels off their racks or clothes off the coffee table and running away with them. It is really fun, you should try it sometime. Despite my naughtiness, I have not chewed on anything I should not have, or destroyed anything in my foster home. I am a really good boy most of the time, do you have a place on the couch for me? Beaker is current on vaccinations, neutered, HW negative, and micro chipped. He is fostered in Omaha, NE. His adoption fee is $300.00 show less

Hello my name is Bulliet, pronounced Bullet, and I am an 8 month old beagle boy. My foster parents thought when they picked me up that I would be shy and maybe afraid of humans and other dogs as I have not had a lot of social interaction in my short life. They were wrong!! My foster dad came to pick me up and he told my foster mom he chose me because I had the most personality out of all the other pups. I have not been here very long but I fit right in with my foster Coonhound sister Belle and the resident dogs. Since Belle just recently had puppies herself she takes really good care of me and is trying to show me the ropes. You will see her in my pictures because I like to go on walks and cuddle with her. Because I am a puppy I am still learning many things like walking on a leash, going potty outside and chewing on toys and not blankets, shoes etc. the humans forget to put away. When I first got to my temporary home I did not know how to use the stairs so the other dogs would tease me and run up them to get away from me. That only worked for a short time because I learned to go up them within a couple of days. Now I just have to figure out how to get down them but for the time being my humans carry me down them at my command – a little cry and a head tilt. Since I am a puppy I am kenneled at night and when everyone goes to work. My foster parents have found that a dark and quiet room puts me right to sleep. The room gets a little noisy when I snore but I am not as loud as my foster dad. I do require a family that is patient with me while I learn potty training and other basic commands but I will do my best to conquer going down the stairs before we meet. If you would like to meet me please fill out an application on https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/. If you forget to spell my name like the Bourbon no worries the good people at BBRH will know who you mean. I can not wait for you to fall in love with me! Bulliet like the Bourbon. Bulliet is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered and micro chipped. He is fostered in Omaha, NE. His adoption fee is $300.00 show less

Fostered in Omaha - This smile says it all, doesn't it? Cooper is a happy boy who loves life and is always on the go looking for a new adventure or friend! This boy is a mover and a shaker, but most of all a mover, who would enjoy being active with his family. We think this kid would make an awesome running partner or agility dog, where he could show off his stamina and his desire to please his person. He gets a little nervous in new places, but with someone patient and a little work, we think he would really enjoy discovering the world since he does so well in the car. Cooper is a hound/shepard mix -- really an All-American boy and completely unique. He loves to play with other dogs, and has a rough and tumble personality with a bold play-style -- not for dog playmates who are faint of heart! Cooper is working on learning to share toys, but could live with other pups and thrive so long as boundaries are set and followed by his family. Cooper loves puzzle feeding toys and is one smart cookie! Cooper is an adolescent dog, so he will need someone to continue showing him how to be the best dog he can be. He's a loving boy and very loyal, a kid who likes to keep his people close, but is also fine hanging out and chewing a bone rather than demanding constant attention. We think Cooper is as special as they come and we cannot wait for him to find his family. If you think that may be you, apply today! Cooper is microchipped, UTD on shots and is neutered. Cooper is 55 lbs. Fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

The eyes are the window to the soul we have been told. This boys soul is one of the sweetest. Dexter is a 10 year old Beagle who found himself coming into rescue from a previous owner who did not have time for him and his issue anymore. This loving boy is house broken and will cue to be let outside. He does not need crated and prefers not to be. He loves children and does great with other dogs too! (Cats unknown). Dexter LOVES food, so much that he is willing to jump on a chair to help himself to your left overs! His dog food and other human food does need to be safely kept out of reach or locked so that he does not find himself in a feast and end up at the vet again!! Poor Dexter does suffer from chronic severe allergies, so he needs a patient owner that is willing to provide consistent medication and occasional baths. He has been receiving this attention and is much more comfortable than when we first got him. He would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time, as he suffers from severe separation anxiety. He is what we consider 'speechless' for a hound dog until you leave the house. He does not show destructive behavior but will howl, cry, bark, and excessively pace when you leave him. While you are home you can find him curled up in a blanket, taking a snooze! He is an extremely sweet and gentle boy who wants a loving home with a person to cuddle up next to for his retirement. Are you that person? **The vet said he will probably be allergy ridden and on meds for life. Some may need to be switched in the future . Dexter averages about $80 of meds every 15 days.... plus he is on prescription shampoo and foam but that lasts awhile. As part of Dexters adoption his foster mom, who is a groomer, will offer Dexter’s new owners an extremely heavily discounted grooming fee if they want to bring him for baths. (It would include bath, nails, and ear cleaning). **** Dexter is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped. His adoption fee is $125.00. Dexter is fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

Meet Hermione! She is a sweet, playful, loving, brave, smart 8-month-old beagle. She is an absolutely gorgeous beagle with the softest fur. She is a little girl and should be no bigger than 25 pounds when full grown. Since she came from a situation that was less than pleasant, I was unsure what her personality would be like, but she is a typical 8-month-old puppy. She loves to play, play, play!!! Her favorite activities are eating, playing and snuggling. Her most favorite toy is an empty plastic water bottle! That sound is amazing to her, but just do not try to watch any tv while she is playing with that! She also loves nylabones to chew and fluffy toys to rat shake! When she is tuckered out, she will come over and want to be picked up and snuggled. She does not really go into her crate voluntarily, but when she is in it, she does not seem to mind. She is crated during the day while her foster parent works. At night, she has been sleeping in bed with her foster parent all snuggled up. She sleeps through the night, but since we are potty training, sometimes I take her outside during the night just to make sure. She is not potty trained yet, but she is getting better and making great strides. She needs to be closely watched and let out regularly and once you get to know her, you know when she needs to go potty. She is soooo smart and food motivated, so I have been trying to use a lot of positive reinforcement when she goes potty outside. She has access to a doggy door which she mastered quickly, but is still learning that she needs to use it to go potty too! She gets along with other dogs, and loves to play and cuddle with her foster sibling dogs. She really needs a forever home with another playful dog that can show her how to be the best dog she can be and so she can learn positive behaviors. Since she is a puppy, she could use another dog to help get some of that energy out also. She does okay with her cat foster sibling but will bay at her, so she would need a dog savvy cat. She would do well with kids of any ages. Her current routine is getting up about six, going outside, eating breakfast and then playing for about an hour and a half. She is taken back outside to use the bathroom before going in her crate. Once her foster parent comes home, she is taken outside and fed and then is taken outside regularly to see if she has to go to the bathroom. After a combination of playing hard and quick naps, she goes to bed around 9 ish and will normally sleep all night. Since she is a puppy and her first 8 months have been questionable, she will need extra patience and guidance. I am convinced she will become a great loyal companion for someone and will provide many years of love and fun! She is so smart and I think would do fantastic in a training class. I am working with her on manners but training classes would be great for her. Hermione reminds everyone to shop cruelty free!!!! Hermione is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention, and micro chipped. She is fostered in Springfield, MO, but transportation can be arranged to get her to her forever family. Her adoption fee is $300.00 show less

Are you looking for a great, low key, chill companion? Im your girl!! My favorite thing to do is relax. I am super friendly with everyone. My Foster Mama calls me Lacey Love, Lovey Lace, Love Bug, and Love. I am a beautiful, sweet, curvy girl, on my way to a spread in Womens Day magazine to show off my new figure! I have lost 1/6 of my body weight, and I have only 4-5 pounds left to go! You see, my previous owner was not able to take good care of me, I was fed constantly, and also had a previous hip injury that needed surgery. BBRH provided FHO surgery (femoral head osteotomy), a fancy way of saying the bone and hip were so damaged and degenerated that they had to cut out the top half of my femoral bone. So, I am still gaining strength and confidence back. I can walk and wobble around (better when food is involved), but am still unsure with steps (I regularly do 2-3 steps to go inside and out, with patience, encouragement and praise). I am not yet confident enough to do a staircase. I also struggle with hard surfaces like linoleum or wood. It is a little slippery and once in a while my legs go out from under me. So foster Mama keeps a small rug nearby to place in front of me if that happens. Then I can get a grip and get up easily. Now, if I can live the luxurious life in a carpeted home, I will have no problems! I get attached pretty quickly. I love to be where you are, or at least be able to see you wherever you are. I am also kind of a lone wolf . I am OK with other dogs (I just ignore them), or I would be OK as an only dog. I am Ok with cats too. I ignore them and they ignore me! I can also be a drama queen at times. I love my people, and I love my green blanket. It is mine, mine, mine! So, if everyone respects that, we will get along just fine! I sleep very deeply, so I can startle easily. I would probably do best with older kids. I am about 10 years old, spayed, and totally housetrained (I will go to the door and let you know with a little chirp that I need to be let out). I still have some play in me. I love to nibble and gnaw on your hands. Mostly, at my age though, I just like to lounge around. I am as low maintenance as they come! If I can, I like to lean against your legs or lay partially on your feet. You see, I just cannot get close enough to you! I will need to continue my diet, and several short walks a day would help me get stronger. I currently weigh 35 pounds and need to get to 30 pounds for optimum health. I sure hope I can become your best love bug ever! Lacey is fostered in Kansas City. Laceys adoption fee is $200.00. show less

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Anne! My friends just call me Lizzie! I was named by my 8 year old friend Maggie. You see, I was in a kennel for 8 months in a testing lab and had never felt love from a human before. I am getting that now! I am 8 months old and very petite, I weigh around 15-18lbs. I am learning some new things like sit and I really love treats. I am having some problems with house breaking, I was always in a kennel and went whenever I wanted. I do like the outside when I go out with my family. I am good with other dogs and would love to be in home with another one, to help me learn the right way to do things! I have a friend here that I love to snuggle with. I am still learning to be on a leash, I really do not like it much, Yet! I am learning to like toys, I do like to destroy them, I am, still puppy after all! This is all a big change for me , but I know I would make a good friend for a family. I will get in your lap for snuggles if you pick me up. I will need someone with a lot of patience. Foster mom here, she can be a sweetheart when she wants to be! Since she is a puppy, she can get into things she shouldn’t! She goes and goes and then crashes! Loves to be close to me and loves my lap. She will make a wonderful pet for someone with puppy experience! Lizzie is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed, and micro chipped. She is fostered in Omaha, NE. Do I look a little sad? I'm a little disoriented and confused since my owners brought me back to this rescue that they adopted me from . You see I snapped at the little kids in the house and they decided I would be better off with a family who has older kids over 13 yrs old. Smaller kids make me nervous and I dont like them in my face. My name is Maggie and I am a 5 year old Beagle. I am a plump little lady, weighing in at 36 pounds. It took me a while to get used to my foster parents and their resident Beagle and settle in. I did not eat much. When it was time to go for a walk, I really resisted. The first walk was rough, the second walk went a little better. By the third walk, I was able to keep up with the humans and their pet. Now I really like to take walks. And I really like to eat but the humans are monitoring that and feeding me low-fat food. I am looking for a home to LOVE ME FUREVER. I know several commands and am totally housebroken. I love peanut butter and long walks with my foster dad. I get along well with other dogs, even though I don’t play much. My foster parents have little visitors called grandchildren who stay with them. I am so gentle and loving with them and we love to cuddle together. But I don't like when little kids get in my face, so it was decided that it would be best if therre were only older kids in the house. I sleep in my kennel at night and stay in there while my humans are at work and school. Even though I don’t like going into my kennel, I am fine once I get in there. I am so excited to meet my new family because I am now ready to love and be loved. Will you show me your love and be my FUREVER family? Hello World! My name is Mili, I am an 8 month old beagle puppy and I weigh around 20lbs. looking for my forever home. I am a little bit sugar and a little bit spice. I can be so sweet and loving and want to sit in your lap and give you kisses and I am also full of puppy energy and love to play with just about anything I can get a hold of. Paper towels are my favorite, I can shred a roll in a matter of minutes. Paper towels? You might ask, well I guess I am not yet perfect at potty training just yet and my foster mom seems to keep them handy just in case I forget to go to the door. She says I am getting really good at going out to potty, but she still keeps those paper towels around just in case. I do want to play and you will want to have some good dog toys around for me to play with and chew on. I love to play with my foster sister and brother also, I could romp around for hours. Oh, and I LOVE THE SNOW! It is so fun to play in and run around in. I am still working on walking on a lead and will get a bit scared sometimes and stop right in my tracks. With a little coaxing and maybe a treat I will come right along. I’m working on basic commands like sit , stay and come. I have COME figured out though, all my foster mom has to say is puppies come and I will make a beeline straight to her. I have been working on kennel training but I will protest when I am first put in the kennel. You will have to be a bit patient with me on that one. I just don’t like the kennel much! I would rather be hanging out in the living room or somewhere by you! Mili is current on vaccinations, spayed, HW negative and micro chipped. She is fostered in Council Bluffs, IA. Hi! My name is Misty and I am a 3 year old Beagle/Mix and I weigh 28lbs. When I first arrived at my foster family’s home, I was very scared and skittish. Any noise startled me, so I would hide and tremble. I currently live with two other dogs and the younger one wants to play all the time, but that is just not me. My foster dad says I am more outgoing and social when the other dogs are not around. I am low key mellow kind of girl and if you give me time, love and patience I promise to be your new best friend. I go to bed in my kennel at night, because I do not want to leave my foster parents’ bed in the mornings. Okay, so I am NOT a morning dog, but I am getting better at starting morning off right. I DO love my kennel, because it is my safe place when I want alone time or when I get scared. I really enjoy sitting on the sofa with you while you watch TV, read or just hang out. As your new dog, I may need time to acclimate to my surroundings and may need to be leash-led for bathroom breaks until it becomes routine. I have not had any recent accidents in the house. I have not been leashed walked in a while, because my exercise has been limited due to my heartworm treatments. I have no problems taking my medications and they are currently being added to my food. I am not sure how I would handle cats in the family, as I currently do not live with any. I do not think a home with young kids or a younger dog would be for me, since they make loud noises, sudden movements or want to play. I am very aware of my surroundings, but if I am unsure of something or someone I will hide in my kennel or in a corner. Once I am comfortable with the new person I will come out and get to know them. Oh! And I love treats. Misty is current on vaccinations, spayed, and micro chipped. She is currently undergoing HW treatment and taking it like a true champ!! She is fostered in Omaha, NE. Ring around the Rosey! I love to play with other dogs. And because of this I NEED to have another doggie (or two!) in my new home to make me feel safe and secure and to play with. My name is Rosey and 3.5 years old and sweet as can be. When I first arrived at my foster family's home I was very scared and skittish. A lot of noises startled me and sometimes I still shake when I am scared. I might be that way with you at first too, but if you give me a lot of love and patience, I promise I will get comfortable soon. I follow my foster mom around and try to sit on her lap whenever she will let me. If she quits petting me I will paw at her for attention! I love to snuggle with my humans, and sometimes I even snuggle with other dogs. I am good with dogs, kids, and cats, but will bark at the cats a little bit!! I do a good job letting little kids pet me and give me hugs. I love to play with toys and sometimes if my foster family leaves out books, I will chew those up because I think they are toys for me. When I am excited my whole body wags! It is super cute! I am house trained, know sit, and am learning to walk on a leash. Sometimes when I go outside to sniff around the back yard, I wont come back in, but I am working on this. Occasionally it seems like a game to me when coming back in. I love to go on walks and see all the wonders of the world, but I am not too great at heeling yet. I crate well when you are gone. My crate is my safe place if I get scared. If you can show me patience that you love me, I promise I will be your best friend and will request that you never stop petting me! Rosey is fostered in Omaha, NE. ISO a family that loves dogs, snuggling (on the couch and in bed), long walks on the beach (or anywhere really). Here are some things you should know about me. My name is Ruggar and I am a 35 pound tri-color beagle and I have a hooked tail. The vet said it was a genetic deformity but it does not cause me any problems. I am a pretty friendly boy and get along well with other dogs and cats. I am potty trained but not great in the kennel. I will whine in a kennel for a little bit before settling down. The thing is, I really do not need a kennel but my foster parents have me sleeping in one at night because they say that the bed is already full and I will climb into bed with them otherwise. My brother and I came into foster care when my parents could no longer care for us and it has been an adjustment. What I enjoy the most is being with my people. I am very mild mannered and know some basic commands. I have not been around little kids so I am not sure what I would think of them. I am 5 years old, neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped and healthy (with allergies, I just need to take daily allergy meds). I am being fostered in Kansas City and my adoption fee is $225. If you match the description of the family I am looking for then please contact Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland. I will love and cherish you forever! show less

"Is right in your face to close to say Hello?? " Sophie is a beautiful , 18 month old bloodhound mix, full grown, 60 lbs., fully vetted, spayed in Sept, HW neg. She is looking for a home who has a love for large, goofy hounds! Sophie is a hound who does not know the meaning of personal space but is very loving! Her story is one of many hounds, She was purchased by her previous owners who found out a hound has a very busy nose and she was constantly picked up by animal control and law enforcement in rural KS. The owners never came back for her and she has found herself needing a new home. She is currently at a vet clinic where she lives right now for lack of a better option. The nice people are taking good care of her but it sure is not like having a home of her own. A home with a secure 6 ft. fenced in yard would be ideal for her to be safe and run and play as all young pups should. A home with kids who are older would be best as she is silly and jumpy and could knock them over easily with her joy of life. She adores kids, and is always excited to see them but has not learned to control herself. She will learn to be a great dog with some time and manners training and patience. Do not know how she does with cats. She is not a barker and is fine with other dogs. Sophie will need training to be the best dog she can be and someone who is committed to doing this for her. She stays in a kennel and is still pooping occasionally in her kennel so will need patience with this also. She loves to go for walks and play outside. She is located in Blue Rapids KS. Please fill out an application if you are interested in Sophie and making her a part of your family forever, for better or worse and giving her the time she needs to settle in and be a part of a family. $225 is her adoption fee. show less

"Is your lap big enough for me ? I think it is!! " But just for a moment as i'm a very busy young girl on the go!! I love to zip and zoom all over my fenced in back yard. I may come to you for a few snuggles here and there but until I'm all done playing dont expect it for long! I’m a beautiful lemon beagle and my name has morphed a lot since I’ve been here. I was called Lemonhead and Lemony Snicket, but now my nickname is just Snicket! I know, I know, it just does not seem right! Because I really am the sweetest Sweet Pea you will ever meet! I will let you know I am the sweetest by telling you all about it! In my perfect home I would love for my people to be home more than they are not. I do not care to be home alone for long. I must be kenneled when you are gone, as I can find all kinds of things to do while you are gone that you may not be thrilled about! I dont love the kennel and get extremely exicted when i get out and need time to run off some energy after being in the kennel for awhile. I can go from being the most raving maniacal lunatic when I am playing with the younger resident dog, to a cuddly, innocent, sweet lil thing in zero flat! My favorite time to be still and snuggle is at night after I've spent my day running and playing with another playful pup. So the perfect home for me would have another playmate. My eyes are full of love and appreciation, and my little tail just quivers with pure joy when you hold me! But back to the goofy stuff…here is an example: you better not leave bottled water around where I can get to it because I just cannot resist the crinkly sound! It was even better the last several weeks when foster Mama thought the bigger resident dog had started peeing gallons in the living room all of a sudden. I just snickered and kept quiet! Up until today, I knew how to puncture the bottle in several places at once and let it all spill out in one spot. But today I learned how to puncture just one hole and carry it, squirting it all over the living room! SO much fun spraying it everywhere, except now the other dog is not getting blamed anymore because I got caught red-handed! Oh well, the minute Foster Mama sat down I was in her lap and all was forgiven. Also, I am supposed to tell you to push in all the dining room chairs, otherwise I will sit in one and just survey my world. I am good with cats; in fact, I am the only dog that the resident cat has ever allowed to share Mamas lap with! I have not been around children, but I imagine they would be the best playmates ever! I am just so wiggly, squirrelly, cuddly, and goofy! I love to be outside, too! So my perfect home would have a fenced in yard that i can play in. Squirrels, birds, chipmunks, butterflies are my favorite! I love pretending I can catch them, and I love just sniffing around. Like most hounds, i must be watched when i'm outside so i dont get into something i shouldnt or start digging or something... Would you like me to come and cuddle with you? Sweet Pea was underweight at 16 pounds when she came into rescue, but is now 19 pounds. She could use 1-2 more pounds on her, but she gains weight very slowly as her little tummy just cannot hold much. Plus the fact that she is very active, keeps her weight down. Sweet Pea is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, and then she needs to get spayed. Sweet Pea also needs help with potty training. She is very smart but just does not see any reason to only go outside. She will be available for adoption mid-December. She will need to be on a certain kind of food for being her best self so you must be able to provide that for her. She is fostered in Kansas City. Swet Peas adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Hi all, my name is Vito and I am a mostly beagle mix approximately 6 years old. (My former family had my DNA tested just for fun and the results show 75% beagle, 15% carin terrier and 10% min pin...a very cute mix if I do say so myself). First I need to tell you why I had to leave my family. I loved my home with them but when they had a second baby, I just could not handle it and I started snapping at the babies. It is just too scary for me when very small humans get in my face and poke and pull at me. Foster mom says I am the sweetest, snuggliest little guy in the whole world but it would be best if I went to a home with bigger kids, 8 years old and up would be good. I am a little picky about other dogs. I do not like the ones that are larger than me! Since I had been with my family for about 5 years, I am feeling rather insecure and anxious right now and need some extra patience and time to adjust. Foster mom says I am really a people person and love everyone I meet so I will not have much trouble with new people, but what I do not like is being left alone, oh, and I am not a big fan of car rides. Other than that foster mom says I am outstanding as I never bother anything in the house, I am potty trained and sleep in my cave bed at night. I love walks and exploring new territory, naps and snuggling on the couch. Also I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE food and treats! I weigh about 26 pounds and I am up to date on shots and am generally a healthy beagle boy. So if you would like a slightly more mature, affectionate and snuggly guy, I could be the one for you. Vito is also neutered, HW negative and micro chipped. Vito is fostered in Omaha, NE. His adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Do you ever wonder what a name means? My name is Zeke and it means, God strengthens. You would never believe how fitting that is to me. I am an 8 month old Beagle who was rescued from a laboratory facility. After only being out a couple of days, I had some seizures and my foster family recently discovered that I may be deaf. Do NOT let any of that fool you! God has strengthened me and although I am on daily medication for my seizures, I am healthy as a horse and I love life! I love to run, hop, skip, jump, fly and play and then after a fun filled day, I love to snuggle in my foster moms arms. I am a lover of all things, big and small. I am extremely observant, so much so that at times it is hard to tell that I did not really hear you. I am very food motivated and my foster mom says I will be a quick learner for someone willing to spend a little extra time and possibly learn with me. I am all puppy and like any puppy a little patience is required. I am working on my potty training and figuring it out pretty quickly but I am not quite there, 100 percent. I can be pretty good in my kennel so long as I am in a dark place with no extra movement around. Since I am so observant, if I see movement I think you are coming to get me and I will cry if you do not come fast enough. Some people say that being deaf is a disability. I don not believe that at all, in fact, I believe it has made me stronger. Because I can not hear, I am not afraid of anything! Loud noises, vacuum cleaners, thunder, yelling and cheering for your favorite team, nothing riles me! What could be better than that! I am current on all of my vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and heartworm negative. I am currently being fostered in the Kansas City area and have an adoption fee of $300. If you are looking for someone to play with, learn with, snuggle with and love you unconditionally, I am your guy! I guarantee that you will never lack excitement or love when I am around! Zekes monthly medication costs around $30 a month. He has not had any seizures since starting the medication. All tests came back normal. show less
