Cinnabun came to us as a stray fall of 2018.  He was fairly nasty at the time and we initially were looking to get him into a barn/farm type setting.  Over the past 2 months he has evolved almost 360 and has become soooooooo friendly.  His brother Romeo passed through the shelter just before he came and was very friendly.  Cinnabun is stunning looking and he might be a little shy at first - I’m not sure I would recommend young children as his transformation was recent.  He is very handsome and we don’t know why he decided to become so friendly but I do know that we have worked with him.  He DOES NOT need a high energy environment.  Cinnabun is about a year of age.  show less

COLT IS NOT HYPOALLERGENIC!!!  He does shed.  Colt was found as a stray and brought in by Good Samaritans.  Based on where he was found maybe he was dumped off of the Quickway as this seems to happen more often in Goshen.  He appears to be part Basenji mix and maybe Akita.  We are not 100% sure.  He loves the outdoors, hence why he was hard to catch.  Colt needs someone who has experience and willing to make a commitment.  We originally thought he had an aversion to men, but it’s not that.  He loves some people and not others.  He’s about 1, and we don’t know what he came from.  He shouldn’t be around children.  He has Basenji in him, but is NOT HYPOALLERGENIC by any means and this is NOT a good reason to get a dog by any means.  Colt could be a great dog for the right person, but no children.  show less

Ebon was part of a rescue from a hoarder - a total of 8 cats came into the shelter at that time 3 years ago. Ebon is the last left of his family, as all the others found homes. He's a lounger and enjoys his comfort. Ebon is a little shy, and just needs someone to give him time to adjust as he has been with us for awhile.  Unfortunately Ebon was recently diagnosed with heart disease. He enjoys his time in our bay windows sunning himself and relaxing, however we would love a permanent home for him.  Ebon is the last of the cats from this hoarding rescue.  He needs a quiet environment and his adopter must be someone very, very special to even consider letting Ebon leave our shelter family. show less

Gianni came in with 2 siblings (Bello and Nina) from a local Good Samaritan who actually found 7 kittens.  We took in 3 to date.  They were quite scared when they came in, but have come a long way.  Very beautiful, they all have very different personalities and just need a little time to acclimate to new surroundings.  They have always been indoor cactus.  Gianni was always a shy boy but now resides in our free roaming room and loves playing with toys and enjoys freedom.  Beautiful boy and hoping for a forever home.   show less

Iris is mom to Petinia, Paisley and Poppi.   Iris is FIV positive however her kittens are not - Iris will be retested in 6 months.  Iris was very, very scared when she came in, however we think with nursing 3 kittens who were quite active and having been outside she was very scared and also being quite young herself.  She is starting to come around. Jackie Chan came in as a stray with her kitten Pearl.  She was very shy when she first came to us, but she has come around.  She is still a little shy, but with a patient owner she still has love to give....Maybe from a distance at first.  She may also be a good barn cat, but if this was the case, she would need housing 365 days a year and food and water.  She has definitely gotten used to being catered to. show less

Nakita was found as a stray in the village and was pretty scared.  She is coming around now that she knows she has a bed, food and getting lots of attention.  It was first thought she might be pregnant, however she is not.  However, we now have 2 kittens that were brought in that may either be her offspring or younger siblings.  Nakita is probably under a year of age.  She enjoys belly rubs and is just learning to trust.  Sweet girl who wants a family to call her own. show less

Thelma is one of 3 Beagles found by the Wallkill River in New Hampton in early March.  We believe a hunter probably abandoned them.  They all had health issues:(  Most have been taken care of and they are all super sweet.  Thelma needs ear drops but is a super sweet girl.  Waiting for someone to come and fall in love with her.   show less

Tiffany came to GHS as a stray and was terrified and completely unapproachable.  Rarely seen when she first came, she is now very curious and usually outside her little cat condo.  She is still shy, but she enjoys being talked to and having interactions with people.   She is 1-2 years of age and needs an environment with no children and with someone who has patience and will give her whatever time she needs to readjust to a new environment.   show less
