About Laverne

*** LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY ***HOMES WITH CHILDREN 12 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER REQUIRED

Hi my name is Laverne.

I am 2 years old, I’m very calm and quiet. It takes a minute to catch me but I don't mind being held. I really like my piggy pouch it makes me feel safe. I play with my Foster Mom’s girl piggies Phoebe and Mama Jane. I seem to get along with the piggies pretty well. But all of us have different personalities so introductions must always take time. I have been with my foster mom for about 6 months. The family that had my sister and I bought us from a breeder in North Carolina but soon realized their kids were allergic to us. They were sad to see us go but not worried because they knew my new foster mom would take good care of us.

I love romaine lettuce, red bell peppers, an occasional strawberry and carrots. I love to burrow in my hay and I need fresh hay daily…it is 70% of my diet. I must go to a home with guinea pig experience and no children under 12. I am extremely fragile if someone drops me it can really hurt me so you must be gentle when you pick me up.  I hope I find my forever home soon!

Guinea Pigs are very social pets and need at least 6 ft.² living habitat.

Rory is a real character! He loves playing fetch, getting belly rubs, and following you around like a fluffy white cloud. Rory personifies the snuggliest things in life. He has a heart of gold and loves nothing more than getting affection from people. Rory's mom originally adopted him from Ruff Dog Rescue about 5 years ago as a young pup. She spoiled him rotten and loved him so very much!  Sadly, she encountered some critical health issues needing permanent assistance and could no longer care for Rory. So, Rory found himself back with us at Ruff Dog Rescue hoping for a second chance at forever. Rory has earned bragging rights: he's gone through an extreme weight loss journey and is currently 55 pounds (down from 102)!!! Maintaining this healthy weight will require serious commitment from his new family and he should still lose about 5 more pounds. Rory does fine with most dogs once he has been properly introduced to them. He is A-ok with human children that are big enough to tolerate his clumsiness. He likes to flop down near his people and he may not notice a smaller than he human! But boy, would he LOVE to be part of his very own family... Rory has so much love to give. He is incredibly affectionate and bonds strongly when he feels a connection. You won't find a more unique looking, funny sounding, lovable marshmallow than this guy right here! show less

*** LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY ***HOMES WITH CHILDREN 12 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER REQUIRED Hi my name is Squiggy. My mom calls me Possum. She says I look just like a possum!  I am about a year old. I was abandoned with my brother Lenny at an apartment complex and a good samaritan picked us up and took us to animal control. I wasn't there long until my Foster Mom Jennifer came to get me. They knew just who to call ;-)  I am very vocal and I’m not sure about having friends just yet. I kinda like being by myself. I can do whatever I want without having someone bug me. When my brother and I went home with Jennifer we had a hard time adjusting together so she had to separate us. But maybe if the right friend comes along I may be interested in a roommate.  I love romaine lettuce, carrots, red and yellow bell peppers and an occasional strawberry. I LOVE my timothy hay! I like to burrow in it. It makes up 70% of my diet so I need it everyday. I also like my chew blocks, I need to chew on them in order to keep my teeth trimmed down. It takes a minute to pick me up but I don't mind my piggy pouch at all once mom puts me in there.  My foster mom says that I must go home with a family that is experienced with guinea pigs and no children under 12. I am extremely fragile and if someone dropped me I could get really hurt.  Guinea Pigs are very social pets and need at least 6 ft.² living habitat. show less
