Hi! My name is Boots! I am still very puppy-like and am such a lover. I can be a bit bashful when I first meet you, but give me a few minutes, and I looooove them! I will give kisses and play. I get along great with other dogs, big and small. I play well with older children. I haven't been exposed to young children yet, but I am sure I would do well if they weren't rough with me. I learned how to use the doggy door at my foster home in about a week and a half - that was after I learned what it was like to be inside a house for the first time. I was fascinated the first time a saw a television and was very confused by stairs in the beginning. I have adjusted well and I am a wonderful friend. I do pretty well with a leash as long as I am wearing a harness because I do not like wearing a collar. I need to be in a calm home with humans that are not loud. I need a lot of positive reinforcement because I am very smart, but still will revert to being scared if anyone comes towards me too fast.  I love to chase and wrestle other dogs all day long and need another dog friend in my home. I will be an amazing adventure dog one day and I would thrive from long walks/hikes. I just need humans that will be loving and patient with me while I become comfortable in their lives, then I will be forever loyal to them. Are you perfect to be my forever home?  Our adoption fees cover transport from a reservation or high-intake shelter, vaccinations, deworming, food, alteration, any needed treatments and microchipping for identification. Hilda’s story captured the hearts of many here at RezDawgs and beyond….  She and her two puppies were dumped at the end of a driveway in rural New Mexico - extremely emaciated, infected with tapeworms and suffering from a painful, itchy skin condition. Hilda was lucky enough to catch a ride on one of our transports to Colorado and has been in the loving care of one of our dedicated foster families since March 1st.  Hilda’s transformation has been amazing! She has gained 18 pounds and is now at a healthy weight of 63 pounds. Her tapeworms are gone and her skin condition has healed up nicely.  Hilda is a very sweet, mild mannered/mellow, happy dog who tends to be a little timid initially. However, once you gain her trust, she is very affectionate and loyal. Hilda loves her people and will gladly follow them from room to room just to be close.  Now that she’s medically rehabilitated, Hilda is ready to meet her forever family! She is house and crate trained, walks well on a leash, is very smart and learns quickly. Hilda gets along with dogs and cats with proper introductions. Like many rescue dogs, she would benefit from some training to address her prey drive and manners when meeting other dogs on leash.  The ideal home for Hilda would have a yard with a 6’ fence (this athletic girl can jump!). While she is friendly with children, her size and enthusiasm mean that she would do best in a home with no small children. An active owner who will be able to include Hilda in their outdoor adventures would be wonderful!   Currently being fostered in Highlands Ranch. Our adoption fees cover transport from a reservation or high-intake shelter, vaccinations, deworming, food, alteration, any needed treatments and microchipping for identification.
