About Maya

Maya is a beautiful chocolate lab and bulldog mix who has never met a person that she doesn't love! She is very playful and enjoys walks and jogs and exploring new places. She is a very energetic athletic dog it would make a good companion for somebody who leads an active life. When she is not playing she loves cuddles and hugs. Maya enjoys the company of other dogs and particularly likes other dogs who are playful like herself! She walks well on a leash and is currently working hard on her potty training, as well as learning commands like sit and stay. She is a quick learner and adapt well to new environments and new people.

* Long Time Resident Reduced Adoption Fee - $25 off adoption fee! * Creflo is a fabulous, affectionate 10 year old fluffy boy of about 50 pounds.  He will give kisses and shake hands. In fact, he really loves to hold your hand while you sit and watch tv. Sleeping at your feet is one of his favorite things.... He loves company and would really like someone who is home a lot though he does well resting when you need to go out too.  He has learned to enjoy gentle walks to the park and will stop to water every post and tree. Truth be told, he's pretty good at rationing pee for the return walk home too! A mile is about his limit. Creflo enjoys tug and chasing tennis balls. He has a particular gentle nibble for his squeak toys as he searches for the squeaker.  Creflo wants you to know his absolute favorite toy is his “hedgie”. He has 3 and they are ALL his favorite toy. He loves treats, especially Blue Dog Bakery Softies.  He will sit and hold his paw out for “Hello”. Creflo had one owner for his first ten years and never left home so he is still exceptionally scared of the car and very nervous going into new buildings. He has however gotten to really enjoy his walks and will wait at the gate if you pick up his leash. He has done extremely well with a home visit vet for booster shots. He likes to sleep on his bed next to your bed at night. He appreciates being tucked in with his blanket and frog and will mostly sleep through the night without needing to go out. If you get up, he will get up too. The small dog in his foster home is too scared of big dogs to play, but he has done well out on walks with dogs he has met. He loves to chase squirrels and would likely chase cats. His foster home has cats which he barks at, but because he can't do stairs he doesn't chase them. He responds quite well to the command “No Bark”. He currently lives with 3 children so noise is not an issue for him. Children must know dog manners and understand not to startle or tug on him as he does startle easily. He does not guard his food but shows a reasonable concern about his toys and bed (not growling, just alertness and concern that someone is taking his toy). He will guard durable rawhide type chews so these may not be the best choice for Creflo. Kongs with peanut butter or cheese whiz are a big treat when he is left home alone. Creflo responds extremely well to love and tenderness. He loves baby talk and attention. He just wants a friend for life Dislikes: Stairs (he can handle a stair or two, but prefers to have ramp available if there are more stairs that that! Being picked up Car rides Having his collar grabbed - he will get a bit snappy. He prefers to be directed with treats!   show less

* Long Time Resident Reduced Adoption Fee - $50 off adoption fee! * I’m Lily, a 1.5 year old female dog who is ready to please!  I was  rescued with my babies.  3 of 4 have been adopted and now Lucy & I are  ready to find our own forever families.     In my time with the loving  fosters at Demi’s I have learned to walk on a leash and the commands for sit and down.  I’m working on stay, but I’m also excited to see w here you are going, so I’ll need more practice and the warm fuzzy  feeling that you’re coming back for me.      I get along with other dogs  and just need to be introduced to them, so I’m not shy.  I’m young girl and love to be active, including walks and running around the  yard.  Chasing toys is fun too.  My pose can go from serious dog to  playful pup in the blink of any eye.  Although, to be honest, I’m  probably better at playful, goofy girl pose – it’s just more natural  for me. My fosters not only started my training, they healed my heartworm and  mange so that I could be a beautiful, nay - gorgeous girl.  My  personality is so much bigger than my pictures can show.  Foster care  has been really good and I’m totally ready for my next chapter with my  furever family.  Do you know them?  Is it you?      Also, just in case you wanted to find 2 dogs (no pressure), I get along with Lucy super duper well and she’s a friendly cutie pie, too! It is definitely not a requirement though! My babies & I were all rescued at the last minute from a high kill  shelter in Texas! We were covered in mange and overlooked by potential  adopters and rescuers. The DAR team quickly jumped into action, flying down to Texas and making the long drive back with my sweet family!  WOW!  They knew we were awesome even while my pups were tiny fluff  balls. show less

* Long Time Resident Reduced Adoption Fee - $50 off adoption fee! * Hello! Hello! Hello!   I am Lucy, an energetic 10 month old female puppy.  I’m a good sized girl and full of life.  I LOVE playing, especially if it involves chasing other dogs, and then getting a belly rub.  Treats are always welcome, too.  I have a light colored coat, with a white stripe on the back of my neck, pink spot on my muzzle and sort of floppy ears.  I don’t really know who I am, possibly some German shepherd, bull terrier and Labrador retriever and who knows. My three siblings were already adopted and now my momma (Lily) and I are looking for our own homes (we don’t need to be adopted together!).  I know I’m not a tiny puppy anymore – physically, but I sure play like one.  Are you looking for a fun dog to do things with?  We could walk, hike, jog, play, eat pizza on the couch, read books or watch anything you want on TV – all the fun things.  Just please make sure my belly gets rubbed while you read. I do have a little family history that I can share I was rescued at the last minute from a high kill shelter in Texas with my momma (Lily) and 3 siblings! We were covered in mange and overlooked by potential adopters and rescuers. The DAR team quickly jumped into action, flying down to Texas and making the long drive back with my sweet family! I’m Roxie and I don’t like tooting my own horn, but they said it would help me find my forever home so here goes. Toot toot! I am as sweet and gentle and snuggly as a girl can be. You never have to call for me because I will be your shadow. Whatever your plans are for the day, I am your girl. Hiking-yes, car ride-yes, watching a movie-my favorite thing in the world. The more laps in your household the better.  I love FOOD, BONES, small squeaky Nerf tennis balls, running, playing with other dogs (who aren’t too old or stuck-up to play) and laps to sit in. I get along with small people, large people and dogs. I would rather not live with cats who attack me for no reason except that I was staring, but that is negotiable. I am learning that crate=food and that it is a rewarding place to be.  I think I’m about 2. Age is just a number…and I don’t do numbers. I raised my family young and had no experiences whatsoever. I walked on a leash (with a harness) for my first time and dipped my paws in a lake and loved it. I went to Petsmart for my first time and hated it (until the lady at the register gave me beef jerky) then I decided I would like to work there. I like car rides, but if you don’t want me in your lap helping you steer, you’ll probably need to put my seatbelt on.  Take me home with you and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without me. I promise. All dogs are spayed/neutered, mircochipped, heatworm tested - if age appropriate and up to date on vaccinations (combo shot, bordetella, rabies - if age appropriate) show less
