About Annabelle - adoption pending

Hello my name is Annabelle but my foster parents call me Belle or mama Belle.  I am a true Southern gal from Louisiana with the manners of a Saint.  I am 2-3 years old and I weight around 45lbs.  I used to live outdoors and have free reign in the woods until the nice people at BBRH rescued me and my puppies.  Although, my pups have found their forever homes I have been living in a foster home while I got treated for heartworms.  At first I wasn’t sure of life indoors but it didn’t take long for me to appreciate the comforts of a warm bed, good food and human love.  I live with other dogs and love having friends to play with and snuggle up to.  I am a sweet, gentle, beautiful and quiet Coonhound girl.  I know you are thinking Did I just read that right?  A quiet Coonhound?,   Well you did!  I don’t make a lot of noise and when I do bark it’s a quiet bark not a howl like those beagles I live with.  I would like a house where I have a comfy dog bed, loving humans and a fenced in yard to play with.  I am shy at first with humans but it doesn’t take me long to warm up to you.  I am good with humans of all sizes, crate trained, potty trained and am learning to walk on a leash. I am tall and thin with mile long legs but don’t be fooled I have a hearty appetite.  If you would like to meet me please go to bassetandbeagle.org and fill out an application.

Belle is current on vaccinations, spayed, and micro chipped.  She is currently undergoing HW treatment.  She is fostered in Omaha, NE and her adoption fee is $225.00.

Hi my name is Bella!!  I am 5 years old, weigh around 40lbs and I am a Bagle!! (Basset/Beagle Mix).  My foster mamma has sent in some good information about me!  We are hoping I can find my forever home very soon!!      Please take some time and read my story below!                                                                                                                                                                                                                           House trained:  Yes, from Day One.  I have a doggy door, which she uses freely. Kennel Trained:  No need to kennel me! Leash trained:  No.  She does not fear or fight leash, just does not understand what it is for and just stands there.      Temperament:  Sissy is very sweet and gentle.  On first approach she shies away. However, when I sit down she comes up to be petted. If I am sitting on the sofa, she curls up against me. She is a quiet girl.   Other pets/dogs:  She does great with other dogs and would do best with at least one doggie sibling. I don’t know about cats but I wouldn’t want to be a squirrel.  She does not bark at squirrels but she spends many enjoyable hours chasing the squirrels from tree to tree and is intently interested in them.   Behavioral issues: She was reportedly a backyard breeder’s dog and had few social skills at first.  However, she clearly wanted human love and came up with the other dogs when they came up to be petted.  Now she is quite the love bug.  She particularly loves being in the backyard, snow or shine.  However, she has come to know the joys of the sofa and will curl up on a drizzly day. We have an evening routine, developed especially for her sister, Bella.  At bed time, I turn the lights down.  Bella sees that and comes dashing through the dog door and zooms for the sofa.  Sissy comes in behind her and comes up to be petted and cuddled.  She does not like loud noises. Many times, if I am moving fast when she first sees me, she shies away.  However, when I bend over and call her she comes to me.  However, if she is outside dashing around and exploring, she does not come when called.   Other: I live in the country and have a really big yard; she truly loves to explore.  I don’t know if she would thrive in a house-bound environment.  It would depend on how much cuddle time was available. My favorite nick name for Bella is  “Sissy Boo”!    I always talk slowly and gently to her, as she is still shy.    Bella   Bella is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.  She is currently fostered in Table Rock, NE.  Her adoption fee is  $225.00 show less

Fostered in Omaha - This smile says it all, doesn't it? Cooper is a happy boy who loves life and is always on the go looking for a new adventure or friend! This boy is a mover and a shaker, but most of all a mover, who would enjoy being active with his family. We think this kid would make an awesome running partner or agility dog, where he could show off his stamina and his desire to please his person. He gets a little nervous in new places, but with someone patient and a little work, we think he would really enjoy discovering the world since he does so well in the car. Cooper is a hound/shepard mix -- really an All-American boy and completely unique. He loves to play with other dogs, and has a rough and tumble personality with a bold play-style -- not for dog playmates who are faint of heart! Cooper is working on learning to share toys, but could live with other pups and thrive so long as boundaries are set and followed by his family. Cooper loves puzzle feeding toys and is one smart cookie! Cooper is an adolescent dog, so he will need someone to continue showing him how to be the best dog he can be. He's a loving boy and very loyal, a kid who likes to keep his people close, but is also fine hanging out and chewing a bone rather than demanding constant attention. We think Cooper is as special as they come and we cannot wait for him to find his family. If you think that may be you, apply today! Cooper is microchipped, UTD on shots and is neutered. Cooper is 55 lbs.  Fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

Hi future mom and/or dad, My names Daisy and am a 11 year old Beagle. I might be mature and curvy, but I have the spirit and heart of a dog half my age. I want two things in life running around in a very secure fence (like to dig my way out) and to snuggle with you. I love belly rubs. I also love short walks around the neighborhood. I do have some minor health issues. I tore my ACL on my back left knee in September of 2017 year. BBRH paid for my surgery last.  I limp from time to time. I have arthritis in the back, knee, and paws. For the knee and joints I receive a daily dose of a joint chewy and fish oil. I have seasonal allergies and I take Benadryl to help relieve my symptoms. I take a weekly pill (DES) for urinary incontinence. I was told by the vet that this issue is common in old gals. I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus of the toenail. My foster mom looks at my toenails weekly to make sure none are infected or bleeding.  At this time, no medication is required. When the Lupus worsens I will need to take a low dose of a steroid pill daily. I get along with the 3 resident cats. I avoid them they avoid me, a win-win situation. My foster mom has a middle-age Beagle that I love hanging out with in the backyard and a younger dog that is too much for my mature self. I am seeking someone that is home most days for I can keep an eye on the squirrels. I would love to have another dog to snuggle and to help patrol the yard with me. Since, I have joint issues and older I prefer no young kids in the household. I'm being fostered in Lincoln, NE.  My adoption fee is $150.00. Love, Daisy       Daisy is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.   show less

The eyes are the window to the soul we have  been told.  This boys soul is one of the sweetest.  Dexter is a 10 year old Beagle who found himself coming into rescue from a previous owner who did not have time for him and his issue anymore. This loving boy is house broken and will cue to be let outside. He does not need crated and prefers not to be.  He loves children and does great with other dogs too! (Cats unknown). Dexter LOVES food, so much that he is willing to jump on a chair to help himself to your left overs!   His dog food and other human food does need to be safely kept out of reach or locked so that he does not find himself in a feast and end up at the vet again!! Poor Dexter does suffer from chronic severe allergies, so he needs a patient owner that is willing to provide consistent medication and occasional baths.  He has been receiving this attention and is much more comfortable than when we first got him. He would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time, as he suffers from severe separation anxiety. He is what we consider 'speechless' for a hound dog until you leave the house. He does not show destructive behavior but will howl, cry, bark, and excessively pace when you leave him.   While you are home you can find him curled up in a blanket, taking a snooze!  He is an extremely sweet and gentle boy who wants a loving home with a person to cuddle up next to for his retirement. Are you that person?     **The vet said he will probably be allergy ridden and on meds for life. Some may need to be switched in the future .  Dexter averages about $80 of meds every 15 days.... plus he is on prescription shampoo and foam but that lasts awhile. As part of Dexters adoption his foster mom, who is a groomer, will offer Dexter’s new owners an extremely heavily discounted grooming fee if they want to bring him for baths. (It would include bath, nails, and ear cleaning). ****   Dexter is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  His adoption fee is $125.00.  Dexter is fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

Gus is a handsome 3 and a half year old beagle trying to finally find his truly forever home.  He was adopted from another rescue about a year and a half ago and recently surrendered to a city animal shelter because they no longer had time for him.  He was adopted and then returned 2 weeks later because their senior dogs did not have the patience for a new sibling as playful as Gus.  Gus loves everyone , kids, adults, other dogs, and even cats.  He is generous with his kisses and snuggles, and even likes to hold your hand with his paw.  His favorite things to do are play with toys, run in the yard, play with toys, go for walks, and did I mention play with toys?  He is often seen throwing the toys up for himself to catch as he bounds around.  Gus is a very powerful chewer, so will do best with tough toys like Nyla bones, fire hose toys, antlers and chew hooves.  Gus needs an active home with a dog playmate or a family that has time to provide regular exercise. He did not have a good experience with kennels in his previous homes, but he is learning it is a safe place with his foster family. Gus has experienced one seizure after a dog attack that the vet believes was caused by stress and he has been medically cleared after follow up testing.  He is knows sit, is housebroken and recently mastered the dog door, neutered, fully vaccinated and micro chipped.   Gus is currently fostered in KC, MO.  His adoption fee is $225.00   show less

I am a gorgeous Treeing Walker Coonhound.  Some of my favorite activities include going for walks, I LOVE car rides, I enjoy the occasional raw hide and toys are my fav!!  Children are great and I seem to do well with them all,  but I am big so will try not to knock them over!  But i am gentle with them so I should be just fine.  Snuggling is also my fav!!    Give me a couch, dog bed or chair and I am good!  I must say, I would do best with a bit younger dog as I like to play some so an older doggie might not like that.  I love my humans!   My requirements will include a fenced in yard with a 6 ft fence so i can run and play, to have a younger dog in the home, someone who can  give me time to settle in, someone who can provide me structure and routine, and someone who can give me lots of snuggles!!  I've been doing great in public with my manners, and doing great on a leash and meeting new people.  Are you my new people?    I am 100% housebroken, current on my vaccinations, neutered, and HW negative!!    I am looking for my perfect companion, could you be it??? show less

Thank goodness I’m finally healthy!  Me and my large family (Mom Savannah and 8 pups) were rescued around Valentine’s Day by some nice people in Southeast Missouri.  Our situation was not good, we were in a dirty home with LOTS of other dogs and it took us weeks to get healthy. It sure took a lot of people to help my family.  I am now a 12 week old mixed breed puppy that is your typical rambunctious pup that just keeps on going and I love to play. I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles and kisses.  I love toys and enjoy playing and wrestling with my siblings.  I have not been exposed to cats yet.  I will need someone with patience that’s willing to work with me on my basic commands as I have not been introduced on how to be a house dog yet and will probably get distracted pretty easily since I really would rather be playing.  I am not potty trained so you will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  Our foster home has us all in an area where we can play. Within that area is a kennel that we use to take our naps and sleep in at night.  If you are looking for a puppy that will need LOTS of attention and patience I may be what you are looking for.  I will need toys to keep me occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you. I believe my birthday is Jan 8, 2019 and I will finally be ready to move into my new home after 6 Apr 2019.  I am microchipped, dewormed and have received my first 2 sets of puppy shots.  The things I will need are 2 more sets of puppy shots, my rabies shot when I’m old enough and I will need spayed.  When I get spayed you will get your $50 deposit back.  My adoption fee is $250 plus the deposit.  Apply for me if you are ready for a forever doggie, not  until something happens in your life doggie!  FOSTERED IN OMAHA NE!!   show less

Are you looking for a great, low key, chill companion?  Im your girl!!  My favorite thing to do is relax.  I am super friendly with everyone.  My Foster Mama calls me Lacey Love, Lovey Lace, Love Bug, and Love.  I am a beautiful, sweet, curvy girl, on my way to a spread in Womens Day magazine to show off my new figure! I have lost 1/6 of my body weight, and I have only 4-5 pounds left to go! You see, my previous owner was not able to take good care of me, I was fed constantly, and also had a previous hip injury that needed surgery.  BBRH provided FHO surgery (femoral head osteotomy), a fancy way of saying the bone and hip were so damaged and degenerated that they had to cut out the top half of my femoral bone.  So, I am still gaining strength and confidence back.  I can walk and wobble around (better when food is involved), but am still unsure with steps (I regularly do 2-3 steps to go inside and out, with patience, encouragement and praise).  I am not yet confident enough to do a staircase.  I also struggle with hard surfaces like linoleum or wood. It is a little slippery and once in a while my legs go out from under me.  So foster Mama keeps a small rug nearby to place in front of me if that happens.  Then I can get a grip and get up easily.  Now, if I can live the luxurious life in a carpeted home, I will have no problems! I get attached pretty quickly. I love to be where you are, or at least be able to see you wherever you are.  I am also kind of a lone wolf .  I am OK with other dogs (I just ignore them), or I would be OK as an only dog. I am Ok with cats too.  I ignore them and they ignore me! I can also be a drama queen at times.  I love my people, and I love my green blanket.  It is mine, mine, mine!  So, if everyone respects that, we will get along just fine!  I sleep very deeply, so I can startle easily.  I would probably do best with older kids. I am about 10 years old, spayed, and totally housetrained (I will go to the door and let you know with a little chirp that I need to be let out). I still have some play in me.  I love to nibble and gnaw on your hands.  Mostly, at my age though, I just like to lounge around.  I am as low maintenance as they come! If I can, I like to lean against your legs or lay partially on your feet.  You see, I just cannot get close enough to you!  I will need to continue my diet, and several short walks a day would help me get stronger.  I currently weigh 35 pounds and need to get to 30 pounds for optimum health.  I sure hope I can become your best love bug ever!  Lacey is fostered in Kansas City.  Laceys adoption fee is $200.00. show less

I am big and and beautiful girl and proud of it!   Let me tell you why that makes me special.  When we go leisurely walks, you will never be overlooked, because I am in your presence people will naturally want to stop and talk with you.  When you are cold at night, I will keep you warm. I will lay my long body against you to give you as much comfort as you need.  When you leave, I will watch over the house making sure no intruders want to enter.  When you are home and strangers enter the house, I will let them know that I am there to protect you.  I will participate in as much or as little activity as you desire. My goal is to always be by your side. So, are you interested in being the center of attention, staying warm, being protected and in need of a loyal companion?  If so, I’m your girl! Note from foster mom: Lacey is a beautiful 9 year old Basset Hound. She is as sweet as they come and has great manners. She is house broken and does not need a kennel. She will come to you and whine when she needs to go out. She loves attention but will wait to be invited onto the couch or bed. She walks on a leash although occasionally her nose will lead her astray. She loves food and treats and will dance around like an excited puppy to get it. Since Lacey is so laid back she does great with other dogs, cats and kids. She is up to date on all of her shots, spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is being fostered in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $225. If interested in Lacey, please contact BassetandBeagle.org.  show less

Are you looking for a bigger pup?  Some people say I look like a miniature cow, maybe part Dalmatian. My name is Missy (although my foster parents call me Missy Moo). I am actually 1/2 Black and Tan Coonhound and part Labrador and Blue Healer, thus my gorgeous coloring and great personality. I am approximately 8 months old and although I’m a little bigger than most pups, I get along with all dogs. I am bigger than all of my foster siblings but I am very gentle with them. I will actually lay down and roll around on the ground to play with them. I love to snuggle my people although I can be a little timid at first. I would do best with another dog to help me build my confidence level.  I love to go to day care to play with the bigger pups but I am a little afraid of the car. I am getting better while I am learning that the car takes me to fun places. I am a food hound and as such, treats are a great motivator as I learn my basic commands. I am house broken and know how to use a doggy door. I am also kennel trained and will go right in with motivation of a treat or food. I am very quiet in my kennel although I do not like to be in it when you are home (unless it is bedtime) and will cry to remind you that I am here or that I have to go potty. Keep in mind, I hear everything and I know when you you get home and will remind you that I am in a kennel as soon as I hear you.  If you don’t want to kennel me at bedtime, that is okay with me!  I will sleep in bed and cuddle with you all night. I am good with kids (I will sleep with them too), but keep in mind I am a bigger puppy and sometimes get excited to see them and might knock them over if they are small. I am up to date on my vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. I am being fostered in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $250. My foster parents say they would keep me in a heartbeat but they know my perfect family is out there waiting for me. Are you my perfect family? show less

The things I will need are 2 more sets of puppy shots, my rabies shot when I’m old enough and I will need neutered.  When I get neutered you will get your $50 deposit back.  My adoption fee is $250 plus the deposit.  Apply for me if you are ready for a forever doggie, not  until something happens in your life doggie!  FOSTERED IN OMAHA NE. show less

Wallace is a young adult beagle who was picked up as a stray in mid Missouri and no one came looking for him.  The officer estimated him to be 2 years old, but we believe he is likely closer to 4,  we should have a better idea once he gets his teeth cleaned.  He is a super happy guy whose tail is wagging unless he is sleeping.  Sometimes it even wags in his sleep.  Wallace is 99% housebroken and even uses the doggy door in his foster home, although he prefers to have someone open the door for him.  He loves everyone, even kids of all ages and has started to learn to play with humans and toys.  He gets along well with the other dog in his foster home as long as food isn't involved, so he would do best being fed separately if there are other pets in the family.  He isn't quite sure about playing with the other dog, but we think that will likely come with time.  We don't know anything about his history, but he arrived with a few sore spots that are improving and he gets super excited when he is getting attention.  He is kennel trained and is learning that this is a safe place to be when his foster family is away. He is great on a leash and is working on learning to sit.  Wallace would love to have a family of his own soon and can't wait to meet you.     Wallace is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  He is fostered in Kansas City, MO.  His adoption fee is $225.00. show less
