About Jack

Jack is 27 lbs. and 2 years old.  Jack came to PAW with his sister Ziti, who has since been adopted.  Now Jack is waiting for his turn.  He has that handsome black and tan scruffy look going for him and a fetching personality.  One of Jack's stumbling blocks to adoption is that at adoption shows he is too interested in what else is going on to turn on his charm.  Jack is keeping his eyes on the other dogs and volunteers and not jumping into your lap showing what a charming boy he is.

Jack seems to like everyone, gets along well with most dogs, don't know about cats.  He is an easy walk, not pulling much.  He rides well in the car. What's not to like?  Come to an adoption show and spend a little time with Jack and you'll see that he really is a sweetheart hiding behind feigned indifference.

Lupine is a lap-loving, cuddle-bug with lovely black and white markings who was born in October 2018. Lupine loves playing with her sister Allium and is especially fond of finding boxes to sit in. She delights her foster parents with her playful personality and love of laps.   Lupine came to PAW after being rescued from a home with too many cats and poor living conditions. When she arrived at the rural shelter, she was pretty sick with an upper respiratory infection, but she was strong and determined, and has fully recovered from that illness. Unfortunately, the severity of the infection damaged her right eye and now her third eyelid shows all of the time in that eye. She's visited a cat eye specialist who says there is no need to remove the eye. We don't expect any long-term health issues associated with her bum eye, nor does it bother Lupine or slow her down! Can you offer Lupine a forever home? She promises many years of cuddles and laughter in return! Lupine is spayed, FIV/FELV negative, microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations. If you would like to meet Lupine, please contact Sally at homecooking@gmail.com. Come and meet our PAW cats at one of our weekend adoption shows at local area pet stores. All the cats don't attend every adoption show so if you are interested in meeting a particular cat send in an email to make arrangements. PLEASE NOTE: We only adopt our animals to locations within one to two hours of the MD/DC/VA metropolitan area. show less

Paddy is an adorably handsome 3 year old American Bulldog mix and weighs 56 lbs. He is a playful and super cuddly boy with soft eyes and a happy tail that's always wagging. Paddy does great with his two canine foster siblings and loves to play with them. He is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and knows various commands. Paddy loves to run around in the yard and play fetch with a ball; he will always return it to you and knows the command "drop" while sitting patiently waiting for you to throw it again. He likes to tear the stuffing out of soft toys, so durable toys rated for "strong chewers" work best for him. Paddy will sweetly curl up in your lap or lie down beside you to settle down and relax; he adores being with his people. He needs to be sure he can trust new people, so he does best with soft and slow introductions. Once that trust is established, he loves you fiercely and forever! He's a smart, gentle, lovable boy waiting for his forever family. Paddy will do best in a home with a confident and kindhearted leader, and no young children. Sweet Sky is a two year old, 60 lb., German Shepherd mix who has recently found a foster home. His foster mom has the following to say about Sky: In less than a week since we started fostering Sky, he’s shown that he is smart, energetic, great with kids, great with other dogs, and has an amazing sense of smell. Sky is also great on a leash and, if anything, he takes a little longer to explore every little smell along the way. When he’s home with just our dog, he lays around on the couch all day, and takes a lap around the house every once in a while. He’s not much of a barker at all. Given his looks, his strong food motivation, and habit of exploratory sniffing, we think he’s probably part fox hound. Sky is house-trained and can sit when asked. He travels really well in the car (in a crate). Sky is also a really fast runner but is actually a little clumsy with his long legs.  Sky’s very food-motivated, so it will be important to keep food up and away until he’s been fully trained not to counter-surf. He is also food-reactive with other dogs at the moment. We’re working with him on that issue daily and have been able to have him and our other dog receive training treats together already. If his new home has a doggy roommate, they will need to be fed separately until he is trained to not be food aggressive.  He doesn’t show any food aggression towards people or children.  Sky would make a fabulous companion for any loving home! show less
