Hi my name is Bella!!  I am 5 years old, weigh around 40lbs and I am a Bagle!! (Basset/Beagle Mix).  My foster mamma has sent in some good information about me!  We are hoping I can find my forever home very soon!!      Please take some time and read my story below!                                                                                                                                                                                                                           House trained:  Yes, from Day One.  I have a doggy door, which she uses freely. Kennel Trained:  No need to kennel me! Leash trained:  No.  She does not fear or fight leash, just does not understand what it is for and just stands there.      Temperament:  Sissy is very sweet and gentle.  On first approach she shies away. However, when I sit down she comes up to be petted. If I am sitting on the sofa, she curls up against me. She is a quiet girl.   Other pets/dogs:  She does great with other dogs and would do best with at least one doggie sibling. I don’t know about cats but I wouldn’t want to be a squirrel.  She does not bark at squirrels but she spends many enjoyable hours chasing the squirrels from tree to tree and is intently interested in them.   Behavioral issues: She was reportedly a backyard breeder’s dog and had few social skills at first.  However, she clearly wanted human love and came up with the other dogs when they came up to be petted.  Now she is quite the love bug.  She particularly loves being in the backyard, snow or shine.  However, she has come to know the joys of the sofa and will curl up on a drizzly day. We have an evening routine, developed especially for her sister, Bella.  At bed time, I turn the lights down.  Bella sees that and comes dashing through the dog door and zooms for the sofa.  Sissy comes in behind her and comes up to be petted and cuddled.  She does not like loud noises. Many times, if I am moving fast when she first sees me, she shies away.  However, when I bend over and call her she comes to me.  However, if she is outside dashing around and exploring, she does not come when called.   Other: I live in the country and have a really big yard; she truly loves to explore.  I don’t know if she would thrive in a house-bound environment.  It would depend on how much cuddle time was available. My favorite nick name for Bella is  “Sissy Boo”!    I always talk slowly and gently to her, as she is still shy.    Bella   Bella is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.  She is currently fostered in Table Rock, NE.  Her adoption fee is  $225.00 show less

Hi future mom and/or dad, My names Daisy and am a 11 year old Beagle. I might be mature and curvy, but I have the spirit and heart of a dog half my age. I want two things in life running around in a very secure fence (like to dig my way out) and to snuggle with you. I love belly rubs. I also love short walks around the neighborhood. I do have some minor health issues. I tore my ACL on my back left knee in September of 2017 year. BBRH paid for my surgery last.  I limp from time to time. I have arthritis in the back, knee, and paws. For the knee and joints I receive a daily dose of a joint chewy and fish oil. I have seasonal allergies and I take Benadryl to help relieve my symptoms. I take a weekly pill (DES) for urinary incontinence. I was told by the vet that this issue is common in old gals. I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus of the toenail. My foster mom looks at my toenails weekly to make sure none are infected or bleeding.  At this time, no medication is required. When the Lupus worsens I will need to take a low dose of a steroid pill daily. I get along with the 3 resident cats. I avoid them they avoid me, a win-win situation. My foster mom has a middle-age Beagle that I love hanging out with in the backyard and a younger dog that is too much for my mature self. I am seeking someone that is home most days for I can keep an eye on the squirrels. I would love to have another dog to snuggle and to help patrol the yard with me. Since, I have joint issues and older I prefer no young kids in the household. I'm being fostered in Lincoln, NE.  My adoption fee is $150.00. Love, Daisy       Daisy is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.   show less

The eyes are the window to the soul we have  been told.  This boys soul is one of the sweetest.  Dexter is a 10 year old Beagle who found himself coming into rescue from a previous owner who did not have time for him and his issue anymore. This loving boy is house broken and will cue to be let outside. He does not need crated and prefers not to be.  He loves children and does great with other dogs too! (Cats unknown). Dexter LOVES food, so much that he is willing to jump on a chair to help himself to your left overs!   His dog food and other human food does need to be safely kept out of reach or locked so that he does not find himself in a feast and end up at the vet again!! Poor Dexter does suffer from chronic severe allergies, so he needs a patient owner that is willing to provide consistent medication and occasional baths.  He has been receiving this attention and is much more comfortable than when we first got him. He would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time, as he suffers from severe separation anxiety. He is what we consider 'speechless' for a hound dog until you leave the house. He does not show destructive behavior but will howl, cry, bark, and excessively pace when you leave him.   While you are home you can find him curled up in a blanket, taking a snooze!  He is an extremely sweet and gentle boy who wants a loving home with a person to cuddle up next to for his retirement. Are you that person?     **The vet said he will probably be allergy ridden and on meds for life. Some may need to be switched in the future .  Dexter averages about $80 of meds every 15 days.... plus he is on prescription shampoo and foam but that lasts awhile. As part of Dexters adoption his foster mom, who is a groomer, will offer Dexter’s new owners an extremely heavily discounted grooming fee if they want to bring him for baths. (It would include bath, nails, and ear cleaning). ****   Dexter is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  His adoption fee is $125.00.  Dexter is fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

Right said 'Fred' checking in to let everyone know I am healthy and ready to take my turn on the catwalk but before I start shaking my touche I want to let you in on a few fun facts about me. I am approximately two years old, fifty pounds and maybe a Basset mixed with a whole lot of handsome.  Need I say more?! Well if you insist. My foster parents think I still act like a big puppy because I have  lot of energy and love to play with my beagle friends. The reds don't like to play so I leave them alone. I am mostly potty trained but a couple of times I made it all the way to the door but mom did not open it quick enough. I really like to play ball and tug of war and am working on my manners. I could use more practice on the leash so I can increase my walking distance each week. When everyone leaves for work I go in my kennel like a good boy and rest up so I can play, play and play.  At night I will either snuggle right next to a human but if they take up too much space I move to my dog bed where I can spread out. Well I gotta run the catwalk is calling. If you have the jingle in your head now and you would like to meet me head over to bassetandbeagle.org and fill out an application. Don't forget to put my name Right said 'Fred' down.   Fred is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  He is fostered in Omaha, NE.  His  adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Are you looking for a great, low key, chill companion?  Im your girl!!  My favorite thing to do is relax.  I am super friendly with everyone.  My Foster Mama calls me Lacey Love, Lovey Lace, Love Bug, and Love.  I am a beautiful, sweet, curvy girl, on my way to a spread in Womens Day magazine to show off my new figure! I have lost 1/6 of my body weight, and I have only 4-5 pounds left to go! You see, my previous owner was not able to take good care of me, I was fed constantly, and also had a previous hip injury that needed surgery.  BBRH provided FHO surgery (femoral head osteotomy), a fancy way of saying the bone and hip were so damaged and degenerated that they had to cut out the top half of my femoral bone.  So, I am still gaining strength and confidence back.  I can walk and wobble around (better when food is involved), but am still unsure with steps (I regularly do 2-3 steps to go inside and out, with patience, encouragement and praise).  I am not yet confident enough to do a staircase.  I also struggle with hard surfaces like linoleum or wood. It is a little slippery and once in a while my legs go out from under me.  So foster Mama keeps a small rug nearby to place in front of me if that happens.  Then I can get a grip and get up easily.  Now, if I can live the luxurious life in a carpeted home, I will have no problems! I get attached pretty quickly. I love to be where you are, or at least be able to see you wherever you are.  I am also kind of a lone wolf .  I am OK with other dogs (I just ignore them), or I would be OK as an only dog. I am Ok with cats too.  I ignore them and they ignore me! I can also be a drama queen at times.  I love my people, and I love my green blanket.  It is mine, mine, mine!  So, if everyone respects that, we will get along just fine!  I sleep very deeply, so I can startle easily.  I would probably do best with older kids. I am about 10 years old, spayed, and totally housetrained (I will go to the door and let you know with a little chirp that I need to be let out). I still have some play in me.  I love to nibble and gnaw on your hands.  Mostly, at my age though, I just like to lounge around.  I am as low maintenance as they come! If I can, I like to lean against your legs or lay partially on your feet.  You see, I just cannot get close enough to you!  I will need to continue my diet, and several short walks a day would help me get stronger.  I currently weigh 35 pounds and need to get to 30 pounds for optimum health.  I sure hope I can become your best love bug ever!  Lacey is fostered in Kansas City.  Laceys adoption fee is $200.00. show less

I'm READY!!   I am a very happy young lady who is ready for my forever home!!  I am a 6 yr old friendly little beagle, just a bit plump, weighing in at 37 lbs.  I would be better off with a family who has a bit older kids, preferably over 13 yrs old, since smaller kids make me nervous and I would prefer them not in my face.   My wants are as follows:  someone who can take me for walks to help me trim down, some to love me and cuddle with me, a family to include me and love me forever! I am looking for a home to LOVE ME FUREVER. I know several commands and am totally housebroken. I love peanut butter and long walks...  I get along well with other dogs, even though I don’t play much.  My foster parents have little visitors called grandchildren who stay with them. I am so gentle and loving with them and we love to cuddle together.  But I don't like when little kids get in my face, so it was decided that it would be best if therre were only older kids in the house.  I sleep in my kennel at night and stay in there while my humans are at work and school. Even though I don’t like going into my kennel, I am fine once I get in there. I am so excited to meet my new family because I am now ready to love and be loved. Will you show me your love and be my FUREVER family?   Maggie is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.  She is fostered in Omaha, NE.  Her adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Hi, my name is Maizy and if you could not  tell, I got no eyes!  Yep, I am blind but that does not stop me.  I am 3-5 years old  and about 22 lbs.  Check out my video at Maizy, My Blind Foster Beagle.  I walk really good on a leash, go up and down stairs, get in and out of my favorite chair and bed.  I know when I am coming in an opened door and I navigate by following the air flow or temperature difference and I walk right in. I am pretty adaptable if you help me find certain things.  I am a little fearless so I need to be watched around heights.  I will jump down trusting there is something close below.   I am working on kennel training.  Unfortunately I have to be crated since I get scared when left out and can be a bit naughty.  If I am left in a strange place, I get scared so I chew on things I should not. I love using the doggie door so I can be left out at my foster home.   With a dog door I am house broken!   I love to be petted.  I got a lot of attention from my previous owner and will let you know how much I love pets and scratches.  I am not picky on who pays attention to me.  Although I prefer adults over kids.  I do not dislike kids, I am just indifferent to them.  I just want to be loved!  I have two nephews ages 8 and 12 who like her.  There is also a family with six kids who come about once a week.  They are gentle kids and like to pet her and she lets them pet her but isn’t particularly attention seeking. I wouldn’t expect her to be playful and roust about with kids.  I like other dogs but am not quite sure how to play with them.   Are you the family for me?  I am healthy except, you know, the eye thing.  I am up to date on shots, spayed, on heartworm preventative and micro chipped.    show less
