About BIRGITTA (Middle East)

Adoption Fee: $500

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait.

BIRGITTA (Brigitte)
Breed: Aidi mix (Atlas Shepard dog)
Gender: fe, spayed
Age: 3 years old
Wgt/Hgt: 42 lbs/almost 25-1/2 inches
Relations: Scared of other dogs/good with kids (per policy)/unknown cats
Activity Level: Moderate to somewhat active
Highlights: Loves people, food motivated (great for training), calm temperament
Region: Middle East

Sometimes bad things happen that lead to wonderful opportunities... that is my story. I was involved in a serious car accident here in the Middle East and the people who found me thought it best to put me down as my treatment would be too costly, but lucky for me there were others willing to step in and help with the surgery costs.

But my story does not end there. It was not long before they came to learn I also had parvovirus. Things did not look good for me. But I am a survivor and after months of care I was finally strong enough to undergo the extensive surgery I needed.

The surgeon had very little hope I would walk again, but again I amazed them ! With physiotherapy and lots of love, I was able to regain the use of my legs quite well if I may say so myself. I do drag my back leg a bit but it adds to my charm - check out my video.  https://youtu.be/KwmvoM9yLPs. Now I am running too https://youtu.be/qaFU1lT28HE.

When I was living on the street food was scarce, so now I will eat and eat and eat ... I am very food motivated. Bet you could use that to your advantage to teach me lots of tricks.

Next to food my favourite thing is tummy rubs and will drop whatever I am doing to get one of those!

I am a people pleaser and love all of you two legged creatures .. especially the youngsters - I very much enjoy playing with children. It’s the four legged ones I am not too sure about. Other dogs scare me a bit but with time I will warm up to them and welcome these new friends too. I  am never aggressive just fearful. https://youtu.be/690U-kbYCEM.

No one is 100% sure how I will react to cats, as there are none here at my new foster, but one of the rescue volunteers remembers me during my time on the street and never once witnessed any aggression by me towards the cats that approached my food. But if that is important to you, they have promised to try their best to introduce me once our world opens up again. I have encountered cats on my walks with my foster and I do pull but it is thought it is out of curiousity not aggression.

This lock down is hard on everyone. But here at my foster, with Parvo in my past, I have blossomed into a healthy happy dog with a calm temperament full of love for everyone. My foster thinks I am just the sweetest dog around.

Now it is time for a new chapter, the one that has lead me here... one I hope, involves a forever home in Canada with you !

I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.
My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada.

Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hello from Shanghai. You wouldn't know it to look at me, but I am a tough little dog. My name is Berta and I am a survivor! You see, when they found me and my siblings at a garbage dump and brought me to the shelter, I was suffering from parvo, a very serious disease, which can be deadly in puppies. I had to be isolated and treated. Amazingly, I pulled through and I am completely healthy now.  Because the disease affects the nervous system, it has left me with a twitch or tick in my front left leg that causes me to walk with what I like to think of as a little dance in my step. It doesn't hurt at all so please don't worry about it. I don't. You can see my little bobbing move in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLBvfxv_f50&feature=youtu.be At one and a half years old, I am a young dog who loves affection. It would be a dream come true if I could leave this shelter one day and go to a proper home where I could be around people all the time.  I hope you'll agree I'm just the right size for most homes: 21lb and 15 inches tall.  Not such a teeny dog that you have to carry me everywhere - I would enjoy coming along for daily walks with you - and not so big that you couldn't pick me up if you needed to. I will willingly share your home with other pets. That doesn't matter to me, but what I want more than anything is to have someone who will love me. I will give you my lifetime of love in return.   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Bindi (Barni) Breed: Husky mix Age: 11 months Gender: Female, spayed Wgt/Hgt:  42 lbs / 20 inches Energy Level: Moderate to Active Relations: good with dogs / unknown cats & kids Highlights: friendly, lap dog, cuddler Calling all cuddlers! My name is Bindi, a young, female, husky mix from the Middle East. I'm a serious lap-dog looking for a lap to call my own. So how does a cutie like me find herself without a home? I was born in a puppy mill, and was kicked out onto the streets with my mother (the photo of the white dog with blue eyes), and my brother Banzi. To make matters worse, once we were abandoned, local dogs started to harass us. Banzi was attacked by those dogs. I was lucky to get away uninjured. As you can see, it has been a tough start to my life.  Despite all that I've been through, I'm trusting of humans and other dogs. In fact, I really love snuggles with humans. I also enjoy playing with my doggy friends.  I keep hearing all these great things about Canada and really hope to find a home there. My ideal family would be one that can take me to a dog park to play, or has another calm, friendly dog that wants a buddy.  If you have a big couch that we can snuggle up on, that would be perfect! I haven't been exposed to cats or children and I'm not sure what I would think of them.  I'm currently living at a shelter with my mom. I would really like to discover the joys of having a home to call my own. Are you ready to welcome this cuddle-bug in your life?   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.   My adoption fee is $600.00 CAD + applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Are you looking for a cool, calm, collected four-legged companion? Well, you just might be in luck! My name is Blitzen and I am a handsome 4 year old mixed retriever pup from Bahrain. I am quite the looker with my soft black fur, big brown eyes, and white speckled front paws. I stand about 27 inches tall and weigh about 65 pounds. I may have a pretty big stature; however I am super calm and gentle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9lO34-9G2c&feature=youtu.be). How’d I end up in the dog shelter, you might ask? Well, me and my bro were abandoned by our owners when they decided to leave the country. Unfortunately, instead of finding us a new home, they just left us tied up in the garden. We stayed there, tied up for a long time. Thank our lucky stars though, somebody called the Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) and they came and saved us! My bro and I are both safe and sound at the BARC shelter now, but we both deserve loving homes with cozy beds, treats, and lots of lovin’. I have been told that I’m grrrreat with other dogs (check out my video of me sharing a kennel with another pooch…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deb6Ca4T8bk&feature=youtu.be). I am still a young, youthful dog who loves walks and adventures, but I can also be calm and chill (can you say snoozes on the couch? Yes please!). My rescuers describe me as a lovely boy who is gentle and great with kids. I will admit, I’m not a huge fan of the kitties though, so a kitty-free home would be good for me. I’m a gem on the leash, look at my video- I’m such a good boy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWitNi4rAag&feature=youtu.be). Look how much I love having my head scratched hehe, I never want my humans to stop! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otCb6R8hv7U) Could you be my furever family? I guarantee we would be fast friends! UPDATE: My foster family in Bahrain noticed that I was walking a bit funny, so they got some x-rays of my hind legs. Turns out that I have pretty severe hip dysplasia and will require a surgery to fix me up! The specific procedure is unknown at the moment, however it will most likely include hip replacements. The vet here in Bahrain says that once I have surgery, I should be able to live a normal, healthy, happy life! I'm only 4 years old after all! My best shot at a full recovery and a long, healthy life is if I receive my surgery in Canada. LALDR and BARC want to fly me to Canada to have my surgery and will try to help fundraise for the vet costs, however there are no guarantees that they will be able to cover the full amount. What I really need is a foster or an adopter who is generous enough to help me out! I will need patient humans who are willing to spend time helping me recover after my surgery. Once you lavish me with your patience and love, I will be in tip-top shape and will repay you with endless doggy kisses and cuddles! I am neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $500 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Helloo future family! My name is Bobby (Bob) and I am a striking 5 year old German Shepard-mix pup from Bahrain.  I’m a pretty handsome dude standing about 29 inches tall and weighing in at about 78 pounds. Quite a stud, dontcha think?  Despite my rugged good looks, I have a pretty shy personality. I know I know, the handsome hunk with the quiet, sweet personality… but it’s true!! My rescuers can vouch for me… I’m just a big pup who enjoys cuddles and lotsa love! I may be slightly shy when we first meet, but after a bit of time I’ll warm right up to you and we’ll be BFF’s after that! Did someone say walk? I LOVES walks!!! Walks on the grass, walks on the pavement, walks to the dog park, you name it… I LOVE IT! My rescuers say I get along great with other dogg-o’s and I even get along with kitties (check out my video… it’s the truth!). I’m still a young dog (5-years young, right!), but I’m pretty darn calm. As long as we go for walks and adventures, I will be perfectly happy to curl up on the couch right next to you for a nice long nap (zzzZZ). Being a bit of a skittish guy, I don’t like loud noises and sometimes meeting new people can be scary. Don’t worry; even though I may take some time to adjust to my new home, with some patience and lots of love… I have all the makings of a great companion!  Won’t you please give me a furever home?   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $500 CAD includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Anyone out there interested in adding a happy-go-lucky, and active young pooch to their family? I am available and eager! My name is Breezy. I'm a two year old Saluki/Pointer/Husky mix from Bahrain, weighing 38lb and 21 inches tall. I was found lying under the hot sun in an empty field, along with my two siblings, when I was barely one week old. We had been abandoned and there was no sign of our mother anywhere. The people who discovered us took us home and hand-fed us. We have lived in the outside courtyard of their house ever since.  Now it's time for me to move on and find a proper home where I can really get to enjoy everything life has to offer.  I am the kind of dog who loves everyone I meet. After an initial shyness I will soon be on my back presenting you with the gift of my belly. It seems to me that this is one of the many pleasures that humans and dogs share; you like to stroke dog-tummies and I love to have mine stroked. It's a win-win! Don't be surprised if I nudge your hand toward me when you stop petting me. I just looooove any kind of attention and will do my best to make sure it doesn't end too soon. Although I have never lived inside a house, one of my favourite places to lounge is on the outdoor sofa next to someone willing to pet me endlessly. Ah, heaven! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61n_4zvlHPU&feature=youtu.be If you're looking for a dog with plenty of energy who will enjoy going for long walks with you, I'm your girl.  After spending so much time living in a courtyard, I don't think I'm cut out to be an apartment dog, so I do hope you have at little outdoor space where I could occasionally chill.  I'm also a big fan of playing in water; the beach, the kiddie pool, wherever I have the chance, I won't hesitate to get in there. Maybe you live near a lake or a beach and you and I could take a walk there together? Even go for a swim? Since I am quite food motivated it's relatively easy to teach me things. So far I have learned sit, down and paw. I bet you have a few other things you'd like me to do. Bring it on; I want to please you. While I haven't yet met a lot of dogs other than my siblings, my carers are starting to socialize me more in preparation for my future with you. I tend to be a bit timid when I first meet strange dogs, but once I'm comfortable I like to play rough. So, if you have another dog who has a similar play style, that would probably be the best match.  Cats and birds are not creatures I could share a home with though, as I tend to chase them.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYw5yf3OSTc&feature=youtu.be If I could find my very own human family, it would be a dream come true. Even though I am already a happy dog, that would just be the best thing ever!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hug me, touch me, play with me.  That's what I am saying with my whole-body-wiggle when I see you. Because I love you all! My name is Buttercup. I'm a 10 month old Jindo mix pup from S.Korea. I am 17 inches tall and weigh 22 pounds. You will have noticed that I am missing an eye. It is thought that I was hit by a car because when I was found on the streets my right ear was injured and my eye was prolapsed. You can only imagine the pain and fear I felt at the time. That was back in February and I feel fine and dandy now.  They had to surgically remove my eye as it couldn't be saved. My ear has healed and there is no lasting impact on my hearing.  But let's talk about my personality because isn't that the most important thing, after all? I am a cheerful dog who loves to be touched. You can see how affectionate I am, even to strangers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsl4L9jHK40&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFbMtRlOVnekLpQ7NYWiCFF When I meet children I am gentle and affectionate. If they let me I will give them lots of little puppy kisses. My tail just never stops wagging, whether I'm saying hello to big dogs or small ones; I'm happy to meet them all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7gqYEI6_L4&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFbMtRlOVnekLpQ7NYWiCFF&index=3 And here I am with my tail still going a-mile-a-minute during this cat introduction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrgxEw-8Oc8&list=PL3UlJJYID8eFbMtRlOVnekLpQ7NYWiCFF&index=6 You get the picture - I'm a happy dog who is full of life and love. Speaking of which, I just loooove my toys. Balls, squishy, squeaky things and chewy toys are just so much fun.  And going for sniffy walks is another thing I really like. Just trotting along checking out all those facinating scents is a heavenly way to spend some time, don't you think? I gotta say, life is so much fun. I bet if I came to live with you every day would be filled with belly rubs and squeaky toys. Am I right?   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $600 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hiya! I’m Buttons, a beautiful Chihuahua-mix pup, fresh off the streets of Mexico. I am almost 3 months old and weigh just under 5 pounds right now, I’m so teeny and cute! My rescuers are pretty darn sure that I will remain a small girl, even once I’m fully grown.   I was rescued off the streets of Chapala, a town in Jalisco, Mexico. Me and my bro, Beau, were all alone out there. Thank goodness we were rescued!! We are now safe and sound at a shelter in Mexico. I am a healthy pup and am soooo ready to start my exciting life, hopefully with you! My rescuers say that I am curious, adventurous, and full of typical puppy energy! I get along well with all the other dogs at the shelter, but I especially adore my fave rescue friend, Marley, who is medium-sized. I could easily live in a home with another doggy friend if you have one. I have never met a human that I didn’t like, and boy do I LOVEEE to be cuddled. Do you like to cuddle? I’m your gal! I’d love nothing more than the chance to move to Canada and live with my own humans. I hear the Pacific North West is so pretty (just like me, hehe) and full of trails to walk and dog parks to play in. Think you could be my furever friend? Please give me a home, I’m waiting! My spay is mandatory for my adoption to be finalized. LALDR does not cover the cost of sterilization on dogs arriving under 8 months of age. I have been vaccinated with all my puppy shots. Buttons & Beau are a bonded pair: their adoption fee of $1,000 includes their airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.  Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hiya! My name is Caity and I currently live in a shelter in Bahrain. I am a beautiful 2 year old, pittie/lab mix. Standing about 25 inches tall, I am 60 pounds of pure gentleness! I am incredibly friendly and LOVE people. I was rescued from a cruel person who used me as a bait dog in a dog-fighting business. It's unbearable to think about, I know. I still have some scars on my body from that time, but it's something I don't think about any more. All I think about is finding a home to call my own! I have been at the Shelter for so long now and it makes me sad. I know my "pittie" breed can scare some people off, but I SWEAR I am such a sweetie! I wouldn't hurt a fly.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RC4LPo572A&feature=youtu.be Despite everything I have been through, I am one incredibly friendly pup! Everyone I meet gets a wagging tail and a sloppy kiss. And if you let me cuddle up to you I will be the happiest girl in the world - I LOVE cuddles!  I get along well with other dogs (see how I wag my tail in my video), however sometimes I can be a bit shy. I don't have an aggressive bone in my adorable body, so I tend to be submissive with other dogs. I won't lie, I'd love to have a human allllll to myself, but if you have a sweet dog in your home already, I would be more than happy to share you with him or her! I will confess... I have chased a few cats in my time... so I probably should go to a kitty-free home. Oooh did I mention I'm pretty smart?! What me come when I'm called in my video! I'm a moderately active young girl who loves to go for walks! I can also totally chill out on the couch with you (remember, I love cuddles!!). I would love a yard to run around in, but a local dog park would suffice as well. Can't you tell, I'm pretty darn laid back. All I want is someone who can love me unconditionally for the rest of my doggy life. I'd love it if that included yummy treats, adventures, walks, and belly rubs! Can you picture the two of us taking lovely walks together side by side? I can! If you were to pick me from all the dogs on this site, I would think I'd died and gone to doggy heaven. Please make my dream come true! You won't regret it; I'll repay you with doggy kisses of gratitude forever!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   I knew it; you were out there all along. I've been waiting for you to show up.  My name is Cash and I intend to be your best friend. I am a one year old Jindo mix from S.Korea, weighing 44lb and 22 inches tall. When I was found on the streets I was immediately taken to the pound. Here in Korea I am considered a bigger dog and therefore not highly adoptable, so after a short time with no interest I was placed on the euthanasia list. But, thank my lucky stars, a volunteer spotted my adorable smile and saved me from that fate. I was brought to a well-regarded rescue and had a thorough check up by the vet. I tested positive for heartworm, but luckily only Stage 2. I've since been treated and fully cleared on March 15th. Now I'm 100% adoption-ready: woop, woop!! My nature is pretty mellow, I would say. Don't get me wrong, I love going for walks and I get a little excited to see the leash come out. (Sometimes I even tug on it a bit, which I'm not supposed to do - guess I could use a little more leash training.) But I quickly settle into a nice easy pace alongside my human. With more frequent practice I think I'll be really great at this! The mellow part is more to do with my being comfortable in my skin and around others. I enjoy attention from people and will sit quietly even while complete strangers pet me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdEHR9pqIuQ&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEGzYw5th3dEEdzvfl2uslH I'm fine with dogs of all sizes, though I'm not big into playing with them. To be honest, people interest me more than other dogs, though I am quite comfortable with dogs around, even this over-exhuberant German Shepherd doesn't faze me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgxpq_KD1gs&list=PL3UlJJYID8eEGzYw5th3dEEdzvfl2uslH&index=3 My feeling toward cats are a bit unclear at this point. I've met a couple and am very interested, but I can't decide if I like them or not. Probably best to stick to a cat-free home to be on the safe side. I love my food, but I have no problem if you have to take it from me and you don't need to worry about me guarding it from other dogs either. What else do you need to know? How about, how soon can I get there? That's what I'm interested in too. So let's start with you applying to adopt me and get the ball rolling........   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 includes my airfare to Canada.
