BIRGITTA (Brigitte)
Breed: Aidi mix (Atlas Shepard dog)
Gender: fe, spayed
Age: 3 years old
Wgt/Hgt: 42 lbs/almost 25-1/2 inches
Relations: Scared of other dogs/good with kids (per policy)/unknown cats
Activity Level: Moderate to somewhat active
Highlights: Loves people, food motivated (great for training), calm temperament
Region: Middle East

Sometimes bad things happen that lead to wonderful opportunities... that is my story. I was involved in a serious car accident here in the Middle East and the people who found me thought it best to put me down as my treatment would be too costly, but lucky for me there were others willing to step in and help with the surgery costs.

But my story does not end there. It was not long before they came to learn I also had parvovirus. Things did not look good for me. But I am a survivor and after months of care I was finally strong enough to undergo the extensive surgery I needed.

The surgeon had very little hope I would walk again, but again I amazed them ! With physiotherapy and lots of love, I was able to regain the use of my legs quite well if I may say so myself. I do drag my back leg a bit but it adds to my charm - check out my video.  https://youtu.be/KwmvoM9yLPs. Now I am running too https://youtu.be/qaFU1lT28HE.

When I was living on the street food was scarce, so now I will eat and eat and eat ... I am very food motivated. Bet you could use that to your advantage to teach me lots of tricks.

Next to food my favourite thing is tummy rubs and will drop whatever I am doing to get one of those!

I am a people pleaser and love all of you two legged creatures .. especially the youngsters - I very much enjoy playing with children. It’s the four legged ones I am not too sure about. Other dogs scare me a bit but with time I will warm up to them and welcome these new friends too. I  am never aggressive just fearful. https://youtu.be/690U-kbYCEM.

No one is 100% sure how I will react to cats, as there are none here at my new foster, but one of the rescue volunteers remembers me during my time on the street and never once witnessed any aggression by me towards the cats that approached my food. But if that is important to you, they have promised to try their best to introduce me once our world opens up again. I have encountered cats on my walks with my foster and I do pull but it is thought it is out of curiousity not aggression.

This lock down is hard on everyone. But here at my foster, with Parvo in my past, I have blossomed into a healthy happy dog with a calm temperament full of love for everyone. My foster thinks I am just the sweetest dog around.

Now it is time for a new chapter, the one that has lead me here... one I hope, involves a forever home in Canada with you !

I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped.
My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada.

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Togo Breed: Husky Age: 3 yrs. Gender: M, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 51 lbs / 22 inches  Activity level: high energy Relations: good with other dogs & cats/ unknown kids Highlights: friendly, strong, resilient, athletic, energetic Region: Middle East “We are young, heartache to heartache, we stand… life is a battle field…” Wait! I think I got the lyrics wrong. Anyway, it’s true, you know? Life is a battle field for some dogs like me. But it didn’t stop me. I am strong and resilient, and still have a nice demeanor you’d enjoy being around.  My name’s Togo. As you can see from the pics, I had a rough time before being rescued. I suffered unspeakable abuse and when I was found as a stray, the nice people who saved me had to take me to vet who said I needed to undergo surgery. I had a wire wrapped around my muzzle, and it looked pretty bad. (The original photos are extremely graphic and are available upon request.) My story isn’t one I like remembering much, and my rescuers don’t have the details either. They think I was stolen or abandoned, but I can’t remember anymore. All there is now from that awful past are the scars I bare. But those are battle scars; they are proof of my courage and bravery.  I’ve underwent two surgeries to fix my mouth area and I’m still standing strong and handsome. Look at my eyes and they’ll tell you all you need to know. I finally completed a third & finally surgery to get a portion of my upper jaw fixed, and everything seems great. Check my photos with that crazy vone on. Yes, my majestic coat was shaved off to keep me cool after surgery. It will all grow back though. My rescuer has discovered I love the water and car rides too. I didn’t come this far to not find my perfect home in Canada, right? Since I’m not used to having a real family, I don’t know how to walk on a leash, but I’m sure I’ll learn as soon as I start taking walks with you. Who can resist going out to have fun?  I do like people, adults are my favorite! They’re the ones I enjoy spending time with. They get me. And I do well with other dogs. See my video playing. I now do okay with cats, as you can see my photo sleeping snuggled together. My friends here think I’d be better living in a home with no children though. I’m friendly with them, but maybe not to be around at all times. I certainly need a lot of love and attention to make the transition smoother, so being just me or having one other pup at home would be fine. Hey, we can share some great moments doing things grownups do, can’t we? My energy level is high. I mean, I’m a husky after all. So I’d be the perfect companion for exercising and for as many great adventures as you can imagine, like going to the park or to get some groceries or taking hikes. That sounds fantastic! I really want to explore the wonders of the world that I haven’t been able to see. Would you let me be that companion for you? I’ll be ready to fly as soon as everything goes back to normal. You can help me heal all the scars in my soul with your love and I’ll make sure to fill your life with the strength and happiness you have never experienced. Let’s have the time of our lives together, discovering new grounds of happiness and affection.  I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $500.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada. I am soooo ready for my family now. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. TRIPP (Teddy) Breed: Aidi (most similar to an Australian Shepard) Age: 1 year Gender: m, neutered Wgt/Hgt: 55 lbs / almost 24 inches Energy level: moderate to active Relations: good with dogs / unknown cats & kids Highlights: playful, devoted, likes playing ball Region: Middle East Ok, so protecting your home is a good job and I will alert you to any invader, but that is not my main drive. I like being with people and am a very devoted boy. I was found by a kind woman when I was a puppy. Someone just left me in a busy street in the Middle East. Who does that kind of thing? Well, I hung out with her for a few months, now I am in a garden. I can't stay here long though. Since my country is a tough & dangerous place to be for dogs, I have learned to bark & snarl if a strange person comes to the house or up to the car. So probably a bit of time and training to desensitize to things would be helpful. Meeting people, getting treats, just learning I am finally safe will likely chill down any tendency of feeling threatened. I would probably benefit from a strong confident sibling in my new home. Even a goofy, happy dog could teach me that my new home is a safe place full of love. Once I am properly introduced and I know a person is a friend, then things are fine. I do tend to get along great with women. Men take a while and I will show this protective nature towards them at first too. I get along with other dogs, though I haven't been around cats or children. Plenty of time to run around getting my energy out at the parks or a decent size back yard to play in would be good. I'd love to have another dog to play with, but that is not a requirement. A couple of enjoyable things I like to do are playing ball and running. I love running. Are you a jogger? We could spend time together in the great outdoors. My breed tends to be energetic, agile, intelligent, alert and quite loyal. Also, we are a sensitive breed, so positive reinforcement training works best, rather than scolding. I hope you are looking for a pal who will stick with you through think and thin. That's me.   I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. My adoption fee is $600.00 CAD + applicable taxes, this includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Tweety (Special Needs) (Mexico)

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wai... show more

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hello kind hoomans! Tweety here, and boy do I have a story for you. Firstly, I’m a 2.5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Lab mixed pooch from the streets of Mexico. I’m a big, handsome boy; I’m 35 kg and stand about 45cm tall. Here’s my story: I was living on the streets as a stray pup when I was run over by a car. I was hurt badly and laid on the side of the road for 6 days before someone found me. Finally, someone scooped me up and took me to the dog pound, where I would have been euthanized had my amazing rescuer not stepped in. My angel of a rescuer took me to the vet and paid for the surgery to fix my injuries! The vet says that I have a good chance at a normal doggy life if I receive the proper care while I recover. I currently have some “wheels” that help me get around while my hind legs heal. The vet is optimistic that I will be able to walk again, however there are no guarantees. I may need some physiotherapy when I get to my forever home; maybe that would increase my chances of walking again! If not though, I’m still a happy boy to use my wheels. Unfortunately, my rescuer can no longer provide for me. Due to a lack of funds, my rescuer cannot afford my treatment. I am currently living in a dog shelter, however that is no place for a pup to recover from big surgery! I’m such a good boy and I so deserve a second chance at life; I just hope somebody decides to adopt me soon! I take a few medications every day to help with my recovery (Gabapentin, Vitamin B12). I will need to be on these medications for 6 to 9 months. After that, I should be good to go! I will need my adopter to be patient as I regain my strength. I’m sure with time, patience, yummy treats, and LOTS of love, I will regain my quality of life and will be such a happy boy! Now, about my awesome personality! I like walks (even with my wheels!) and LOVE to be loved. I am noble and trainable; however I do have some territorial issues with other dogs sometimes. I’m not a fan of kitty cats and prefer female dogs over male dogs. I would flourish in a single-dog home – what can I say, I just want all the attention! I promise to repay your single-doggy loyalty with loads of kisses and tail wags!   Check out my pictures & videos: Picture 1: My handsome face, hehe Picture 2: Me laying on the side of the road, six days after being hit by the car. Unable to move my back legs. Picture 3: Me in the Dog Pound, where I would have been euthanized. Pictures 4 & 5: Me awaiting surgery at the vet. Picture 6: Post-surgery! So nice being able to be outside for a walk! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjSWlM7e7Eg&feature=youtu.be] I know I may not be your “typical dog” because of my extra needs, but if you can find room in your heart to provide me a home, I would be forever grateful! We can be best buds, I’m sure of it!   I am neutered and vaccinated. My adoption fee of $350 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Hey Canada - are you ready for me?  I am sooooooo ready for you. My name is Ulrik and I appear to be a Norfolk Terrier now that they've cleaned me up and cut all those awful matts out of my fur. It's so good to be able to see the world again. You have no idea how horrible it felt to be weighed down by all that dirty hair pulling on my skin. My age is thought to be around a year and a half, and I weigh approximately 17lb. I'm a short but sturdy little fella and I have a calm nature, even in the midst of the chaos.  I bet you would find me a soothing companion. I really can't remember how I came to be wandering the streets of Hangzhou, but I'm very glad I was picked up by the dog control people, even though it was scary at the time.  Who knows what would have happened to me otherwise. Anyway, what matters now is that I am healthy and ready to start my life with you. I know it might take a while before we can be together, but I am the kind of dog who believes good things come to those who wait.   I'll be here, waiting for you.   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hi Canada! Lookin’ for a forever Valentine? Well look no further, she’s right here! My name is Valentine and I am an adorable lab-mix from Bahrain. I am a 3-year old cutie pie who weighs 60 pounds and stands about 24 inches tall. I’m super friendly with all dogs, kitty cats, and children! I will admit, I have a wee bit of a tummy at the moment, but I’m sure with lots of walks and adventures, I’ll have my “summer-bod” ready in no time! What’s my story? Well, it’s a bit unknown. All my rescuers know is that I was a stray on the streets of Bahrain. They took me in when I was just a little pup and thank goodness they did! They have kept me safe and sound at the BARC shelter ever since. It has been a few years now though and I reallyyyyy wish I had a home to call my own. Aren’t I adorable?? Check out this video of me enjoying a belly rub… ohhhh I LOVE the belly rubs! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYZTvwK6_DU&feature=youtu.be) I’m pretty good on a leash and am smart enough to learn some real leash manners once I have a human of my own to train me! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW2waGa1EwY&feature=youtu.be). Oh how I’d love to have a human who is dedicated to helping me grow into the best pup I can be! I know I really can be the best! I told you I was good with kitty cats, right? Well, if you don’t believe me, take a look at my video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PwbOJ9XgXA&feature=youtu.be). See?! I ain’t lying! This Valentine is great with both the canines and the felines! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzjziDdDsjw&feature=youtu.be) I love humans. Like, La-la-la-la-LOVE them! I am all smiles when I’m getting some attention from people (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61L-c4RTgcw&feature=youtu.be). Don’t I seem fun? I guarantee I’d be a great cuddle companion for you! How about a deal? If you take me for lots of walks and give me belly rubs, I’ll repay you in doggy kisses and tail-wags. Deal?! Oh, I’ll also give you my unconditional love; I hope you will too! I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $500 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Are you looking for a super-friendly, outgoing young dog who would love to join your family? Well, here I am! My name is Vee and I am a one year old, 33lb Jindo/Retriever mix from South Korea. I'm about 20 inches tall and full of love and happiness. Not long ago I was rescued from a dog meat farm, along with about 30 other dogs. We have the kindness and generosity of a local couple to thank for that, because after learning about the place, they decided to shut it down by buying all the dogs from the 'farmer'.  We have all now either been adopted or are being cared for by reputable shelters while we wait to find forever homes. I am a playful girl and full of enthusiasm when I meet other dogs. I would make a great companion for a similarly energetic dog, but I admit that I can be a bit irritating to dogs that just aren't that into me! In my future life I hope I will have the chance to regularly burn off some energy at the dog park and learn to recognize which dogs don't want to play with me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tomIvH8AN4k&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGIXAo4qbeZLGJlkCWAkZmV&index=2 Cats have been introduced to me here and I'd really love to play with them; but they don't seem too keen. Given the chance, I would probably chase them, but only because I really want to play; not because I'm aggressive in any way. If you have a confident cat who stands his ground we could likely learn to be friends.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJKPOtjoanQ&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGIXAo4qbeZLGJlkCWAkZmV&index=7 Some of my absolute favourite things to do are going for walks, playing with toys and running around the dog park.  Doesn't everyone like doing those things? Because I am such a friendly dog I have no trouble meeting strangers or being surrounded by children. Everyone will get a tail wag from me. Sloppy kisses too, if they like! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZjsse2jEeI&list=PL3UlJJYID8eGIXAo4qbeZLGJlkCWAkZmV&index=3 For about a month I was lucky enough to experience living with a foster family in a real home. My foster people gave me so much love and attention it made me unhappy and anxious when they left the house. I would whine and scratch at the door. But now that I've been in boarding and have gone through some training I no longer experience separation anxiety and will wait quietly when I'm alone. Although you may want to smother me with love and attention when I first come to live with you (who wouldn't), it will be good for me to continue to practice a little self discipline and content myself with short periods of time without you.  Mind you, I have to say that life is best experienced with others  - wouldn't you agree? So how about you and I start experiencing it together?   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Helloo to my future family! My name is Victoria, pleasure to meet you! I’m a 2 year old saluki/boxer mix from Bahrain; an adorable cutie pie weighing 48 pounds and standing 21 inches tall. Check out my beautiful markings… ain’t I pretty?! Word on the street is that I’m a total sweetheart too! A while ago, me and my bro were found hiding under a water tank on a construction site. As you can imagine, a construction site is not a very nice place for two young pups; it was so hot out there and we never had enough food or water. Luckily, we were found by our amazing rescuers and we have been kept safe at the shelter and had food in our tummies ever since. Growing up at the shelter, I was surrounded by other dogs and kitty cats. Because of this, I’ve grown into a very tolerant young lady; I love other dogs (although I can be shy at first) and I don’t mind being around cats. Check out my video, surrounded by cats and dogs and I’m just chillin’ and wagging my tail! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmOyRYMkj7E&feature=youtu.be) See, I told you, I’m quite the catch! After almost two-years in a shelter, I long for a home of my own. I love people and I’d love to have endless ear rubs and belly scratches; treats and a cozy bed sound nice too. OOH also I’d love to go for lots of hikes and walks! I’ve heard soooo many good things about the beautiful Pacific North West… it really sounds like my cup of tea (or bowl of kibble, hehe). I’m still a young and youthful dog, so I have a moderate amount of energy. After a daily walk and maybe a trip to the dog park, I will gladly spend the afternoon snoozing beside you on the couch. Do you think you could be my furever family? I’d really like to find them soon! I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. My adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Here I am -  Willi; your hopeful candidate for the role of best friend, constant companion and possible lap warmer. (Since I weigh only 12lb and barely reach 12 inches at my shoulders, you could easily fit me on your lap, couldn't you?). I am a one year old terrier mix - slim like a Border terrier, but short like a Cairn terrier - and I am just dying to get out of this noisy, crowded shelter and find a home where I can finally get some love and attention.  Even though it may be a while before I can join you, just knowing I have a home waiting would be so awesome. Please pick me to be yours. They brought me here after finding me at the side of a busy road on the outskirts of Shanghai. Typically the city police go round picking up all the stray dogs and then taking them to the back to the police compound. From there the shelters come to collect the lucky ones, so I suppose I should think of myself as fortunate to be here.  The thing is I can't relax here. There are too many other dogs and so much noise. It's hard to feel confident in a place like this when you are as small as I am. It's not that I don't like other dogs; in fact I have made friends with some of them here; it's just that there are so many. Once I go to live in a real home I would be perfectly happy to share my space with a dog or even a cat, but what I am longing for, above all else, is some human attention. You can see how tolerant I am of this dog and cat, even though I think the dog may have pee'd on me a little bit!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eesa6LEnUbk&feature=youtu.be At first I will probably be a bit shy, but I have no doubt that once I have adjusted to my new world, I will soak up the love.  My little legs may not make me the ideal running companion, but if you're looking for a dog you can take for moderate walks, who is easy to pick up and pop in the car, or tuck in beside you on the couch, who will be forever grateful that you picked him, then please stop right here, right now and fill out the adoption application. Thank you, thank you. Now I have a future to look forward to.   I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. Due to current travel restrictions related to Covid19 there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are prepared to wait.   Oh hello. I was hoping you would stop by, but I wasn't confident you would notice me.  But since you have, my name is Zaza and I'm pleased to meet you. I am a 2 year old mix of beagle and dachsund, weighing in at 22lb, with a height of 14 inches. They spotted me after I'd been dumped in the middle of two major highways. It took over two hours to catch me as I was petrified of all that traffic, not to mention the strange man chasing me.  When I first arrived here at the Shanghai shelter I was quite a playful dog, but over time I've had little opportunity to interact much with people and so I've become nervous around them.  Today was photograph day. It's not easy for a shy dog like me to handle this sudden attention. Normally I do my own thing here among all the other dogs, just sniffing stuff and trotting around saying hello to my canine friends. But today, the people suddenly wanted to grab me and take my picture. It was a little bit scary. I know you can see from my expression that I was worried. You see, I'm the kind of dog who needs someone patient and calm to teach me what it's like to be loved. I've become used to being ignored and I've lost my confidence. I want to go back to being the playful, happy dog I once was.   Could you help me rediscover the pleasure of being held and petted? Will you be my person - the one I lost all hope of finding?   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $550 + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. ZEUS (Bahrain) - Pending Adoption

Doberman Pinscher

Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. You only need 2 words to describe this fella: Gentle Giant!  Hello out there. I am Zeus from Bahrain. I'm a 4 year old Doberman/Rottweiler mix - yeah, I know, it's an impressive combo! I'm 88 lb and 35 inches tall.  The thing is, people tend to have the wrong impression about me. Just because I'm a big Dobie/Rottie doesn't mean I'm a tough nut. That couldn't be further from the truth. In actual fact, I'm a giant cuddle-bug who wouldn't hurt a fly (or a cat!). Probably because of that misguided impression I've spent the past 3 years here at the rescue centre waiting to be adopted. My owners surrendered me back when I was just a year old. I guess I was bigger than they expected and they just didn't want me anymore.  I kept hoping someone would take the time to get to know me and see what a loving, obedient and loyal dog I am. But it hasn't happened... so now I'm placing my trust in Loved At Last to find me a home. I LOVE playing with other dogs and despite my size, I tend to be submissive with them.  It would be fabulous if I ended up in a home with a dog-friend and a yard for us both to play in. I am an energetic dog and would love to be able to run around. Look at me being a silly goofball in this video: https://youtu.be/Ikm_9TFccno. Aren't I such a ham?! I'm even good with cats!! Check out my video - https://youtu.be/lXnSTMpXd38 - who would have thought that you could put a big doggy like me in a room with 10+ cats and I'd be totally chill!  If you're up for it perhaps we could even be jogging buddies. Mind you, I'm a strong boy, so you'd need to feel pretty confident you could manage me; a halti might help with that.  Have I mentioned how much I adore people and have a special place in my heart for those that give me belly rubs?  Ah, what I wouldn't give to be part of a family who would give me belly rubs every day ((https://youtu.be/Lcl3XVWrxUE)) I loveeeee the belly rubs!! I hope that doesn't make me sound like I'm high maintenance. Really I'm not. Just some affection is what I long for. That, and to know that I finally have a home. I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and my adoption fee of $500 CAD + applicable taxes includes my airfare to Canada. *Note: because I have had tick fever in the past I will require an annual course of Doxycycline as a preventative measure.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.    Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters.
