About Emily & Martie

Package deal here...double your pleasure, double the fun!!!

Hi, we are Emily and Martie, 5 year old 30lb. twin beagles and are the bestest sisters you will ever find!!

Always together and never alone. My foster mommy says we are very bonded and we have best of both worlds in personalities.

Emily is very much the mother hen and the most lovable. I do sometimes have bad dreams where I wake up crying but that’s just because I sometimes forget where I am and my sister gets to far. I love my morning cuddles and love kisses from everyone. I’m really laid back and not in a hurry to do much.

Martie is very much the comedian of the group and always has us laughing. When sister Emily cries I’m quick to respond to make sure she’s ok and that she knows I’m still here. I love cuddles and kisses but also love to roam around but not too far away from Emily.

We also have a problem with counter surfing and are working very hard on that. You’re in luck because we have such little legs we can never grab anything but make mommy laugh because we end up falling all over the place...not very gracefully in that department.

We are 100% potty trained and learned the doggy door with in seconds of being in our foster home.

If you have time to cuddle and have a couch for us we are ready to move in.

The girls are current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and micro chipped.  They are fostered in Omaha, NE.  Their adoption fee is $300.00

Adoption Fee: $300.00

The eyes are the window to the soul we have  been told.  This boys soul is one of the sweetest.  Dexter is a 10 year old Beagle who found himself coming into rescue from a previous owner who did not have time for him and his issue anymore. This loving boy is house broken and will cue to be let outside. He does not need crated and prefers not to be.  He loves children and does great with other dogs too! (Cats unknown). Dexter LOVES food, so much that he is willing to jump on a chair to help himself to your left overs!   His dog food and other human food does need to be safely kept out of reach or locked so that he does not find himself in a feast and end up at the vet again!! Poor Dexter does suffer from chronic severe allergies, so he needs a patient owner that is willing to provide consistent medication and occasional baths.  He has been receiving this attention and is much more comfortable than when we first got him. He would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time, as he suffers from severe separation anxiety. He is what we consider 'speechless' for a hound dog until you leave the house. He does not show destructive behavior but will howl, cry, bark, and excessively pace when you leave him.   While you are home you can find him curled up in a blanket, taking a snooze!  He is an extremely sweet and gentle boy who wants a loving home with a person to cuddle up next to for his retirement. Are you that person?     **The vet said he will probably be allergy ridden and on meds for life. Some may need to be switched in the future .  Dexter averages about $80 of meds every 15 days.... plus he is on prescription shampoo and foam but that lasts awhile. As part of Dexters adoption his foster mom, who is a groomer, will offer Dexter’s new owners an extremely heavily discounted grooming fee if they want to bring him for baths. (It would include bath, nails, and ear cleaning). ****   Dexter is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  His adoption fee is $125.00.  Dexter is fostered in Omaha, NE. show less

Right said 'Fred' checking in to let everyone know I am healthy and ready to take my turn on the catwalk but before I start shaking my touche I want to let you in on a few fun facts about me. I am approximately two years old, fifty pounds and maybe a Basset mixed with a whole lot of handsome.  Need I say more?! Well if you insist. My foster parents think I still act like a big puppy because I have  lot of energy and love to play with my beagle friends.  My favorite friend is Buddy the othe basset mix we have available for adoption through BBRH.   We love either other and play all the time together!  I am mostly potty trained but a couple of times I made it all the way to the door but mom did not open it quick enough. I really like to play ball and tug of war and am working on my manners. I could use more practice on the leash so I can increase my walking distance each week. When everyone leaves for work I go in my kennel like a good boy and rest up so I can play, play and play.  At night I will either snuggle right next to a human but if they take up too much space I move to my dog bed where I can spread out. Well I gotta run the catwalk is calling. If you have the jingle in your head now and you would like to meet me head over to bassetandbeagle.org and fill out an application. Don't forget to put my name Right said 'Fred' down.   Fred is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped.  He is fostered in Omaha, NE.  His  adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Hudson has found himself in a bit of a pickle.  He was adopted out to a very loving family about 3.5 yrs ago, from BBRH.  That family is moving to upstate NY at the end of 2019 and the only housing they can find (and they have looked) takes doggies 50 lbs and under.  This is a very difficult decision for them, but they need to find a new home for him.  He will be staying with his family until he finds the best possible new home.  Following is a little bit about Hudson.  Hudson is a sweet 4.5 year-old beagle/boxer mix who loves to running around and exploring but is also a big couch potato. He is crate-trained but we have let him have free roam over the house for the last three years and he’s had almost no accidents. We have a fenced in yard and he is able to do his business with minimal supervision (unless, of course, he spots a bunny). Hudson is great with our two cats, who are left out with him at home each day, and is amazing with our children. He is best buds with our 2-year-old toddler and they have a nightly ritual of cuddling while watching Disney movies, and Hudson is also very gentle and kind with our 3-month-old infant. His favorite is play dates are with larger dogs but, just like with his cat sisters, he does well with small dogs like my sister-in-law’s puggle puppy. He has gained a bit of weight in the last two years and needs to lose some to get back to his healthier self; he weighs about 70 lbs and should be about 55 lbs. This is mostly due to us having a toddler who drops food frequently (e.g., shredded cheese) and us not being able to take him on runs and walks as much as we used to before we had kids. He’s on weight-maintenance diet now and we are hoping a more active family can get him back down to his ideal weight.  In terms of dislikes, there really isn’t much that Hudson dislikes other than missing out on fun; he rarely barks or gets fearful of anything. If you think Hudson sounds like the dog for you, please apply at bassetandbeagle.org for him.  He is current of vaccinations, hw negative, and neutered.  His adoption fee is $225.00. show less

Are you looking for a great, low key, chill companion?  Im your girl!!  My favorite thing to do is relax.  I am super friendly with everyone.  My Foster Mama calls me Lacey Love, Lovey Lace, Love Bug, and Love.  I am a beautiful, sweet, curvy girl, on my way to a spread in Womens Day magazine to show off my new figure! I have lost 1/6 of my body weight, and I have only 4-5 pounds left to go! You see, my previous owner was not able to take good care of me, I was fed constantly, and also had a previous hip injury that needed surgery.  BBRH provided FHO surgery (femoral head osteotomy), a fancy way of saying the bone and hip were so damaged and degenerated that they had to cut out the top half of my femoral bone.  So, I am still gaining strength and confidence back.  I can walk and wobble around (better when food is involved), but am still unsure with steps (I regularly do 2-3 steps to go inside and out, with patience, encouragement and praise).  I am not yet confident enough to do a staircase.  I also struggle with hard surfaces like linoleum or wood. It is a little slippery and once in a while my legs go out from under me.  So foster Mama keeps a small rug nearby to place in front of me if that happens.  Then I can get a grip and get up easily.  Now, if I can live the luxurious life in a carpeted home, I will have no problems! I get attached pretty quickly. I love to be where you are, or at least be able to see you wherever you are.  I am also kind of a lone wolf .  I am OK with other dogs (I just ignore them), or I would be OK as an only dog. I am Ok with cats too.  I ignore them and they ignore me! I can also be a drama queen at times.  I love my people, and I love my green blanket.  It is mine, mine, mine!  So, if everyone respects that, we will get along just fine!  I sleep very deeply, so I can startle easily.  I would probably do best with older kids. I am about 10 years old, spayed, and totally housetrained (I will go to the door and let you know with a little chirp that I need to be let out). I still have some play in me.  I love to nibble and gnaw on your hands.  Mostly, at my age though, I just like to lounge around.  I am as low maintenance as they come! If I can, I like to lean against your legs or lay partially on your feet.  You see, I just cannot get close enough to you!  I will need to continue my diet, and several short walks a day would help me get stronger.  I currently weigh 35 pounds and need to get to 30 pounds for optimum health.  I sure hope I can become your best love bug ever!  Lacey is fostered in Kansas City.  Laceys adoption fee is $200.00. show less

Harooh everyone! My name is Misty and I might be the biggest love bug you have ever met!  I am a blue tick coonhound searching for my soul family. I weigh 65 pounds, but all of that weight is full of love.  I am completely house broken and although I'm big, I don't jump on counters or tables! That is amazing if you ask me.  I know some basic tricks (like sit) but I am a little rusty. I once had a loving family that were teaching me all kinds of new things and had big plans for me!  I am very smart and was really enjoying my training. When they found out they could not keep me, they gave me to a family member who decided to just stick me in an outdoor pen.  Oddly enough, while stuck outside, I became pregnant and then they decided I could not stay there either so after having my babies, I was off to BBRH. I am now being fostered in Kansas City and get to live back inside.  Needless to say, I love it! I am just starting to get the feel of going on walks again so I can be a little pully. I also like to talk and let you know how I am feeling. If you have a rough day, I will let you know that all will be okay.  FYI, I am not a fan of the big scary cows by my foster home! I am between 2 and 3 years old, good with other dogs and cats, up to date on shots, spayed and heartworm negative. There is not much about me to not love… maybe you're sitting there thinking, wow she sounds great but so big.  I am really the perfect size! I know, I may not be able to sit in your lap comfortably, but think of all the back pain I will save you from always bending over to pet another dog. Just reach your hand out and pet, no bending, no squating. See, that makes me perfect in my eyes! If you are looking for a girl to love and want to save yourself future back pain, I am for you.  Please contact Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland to fill out an application! show less

I know, I know, I am not a Basset or a Beagle, but I hang out with a bunch of Beagles, so that should count, right?  My name is Pepper and I am an English Pointer.  So you say that you do not know anything about Pointers; so, let me tell you about me.  I am affectionate, kind, even tempered, loyal, and active.  I do a little dance when I want some attention.  I am used to having free roam of my home and yard.  I lived in the country where I would run and play and when called, I come running.  Although I like to run and play, I also love you be with my people and loved on.  I am approximately 10 years old, but you would never know it!  I am house trained, no need for a kennel because I do not misbehave, good with other dogs and ignore cats.  So, what happened to me you ask, how did I end up in rescue.  That is really an odd story.  I lived with my last family for 8 years until they sold our house.  Unfortunately, they could not take me and could not find anyone that would take me (although I do not understand why).  Luckily for me, they sold my home to a family that fosters for Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland.  My new foster parents and now owners of my home, agreed to let me stay with them and Basset and Beagle agreed to help me get up to date on shots and find my forever home.  So, here I am, looking for my forever home.  Is that with you?  From Pepper’s foster mom:  It is our pleasure to help this beautiful girl find her forever home.  I have never had a foster as good as her.  She dances and prances, sits, comes when called.  She loves to run and play and loves attention doubly as much.  She doesn’t tend to jump up on people but I have seen her do it a few times when no one was paying attention to her dancing tactics.  She is up to date on all her shots, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative.  Her adoption fee is $225 and she’s being fostered in the Kansas City area.  If she is not the right breed for you, but know of someone that would love this girl, please pass her information along! show less
