Una Bella Rosa is perfect for this petite 45 lb basset mix. Bella came to use in pretty bad shape, scared and with a litter of babies.  She was skinny, sickly and full of tummy worms.  She was the best mommy to her babies who are all adopted and now is ready for a home of her own.  Bella Rosa will need a patient home.  She is extremely shy at first and frightened by loud noises and sudden movements.  For these reasons we think a quieter home without small children would be best.  Older children are fine as long as they understand that she is shy and nervous. Bella Rosa is between 1-2 years old and still has many puppy tendencies.  She still likes to chew and romp with the other dogs in the foster home.  She does great with dogs and would benefit from another confident dog in the home to help her feel confident.  Bella Rosa currently ignores those hissy things called cats. Bella Rosa sleeps at the end of the bed with her humans.  Along with playing with her dog friends she likes a walk with her harness on.   She does get frightened of outside noises so early AM or later evening are the best times to walk her Bella Rosa is on heartworm preventative.  She is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped and ready to find her safe forever home where she will be treated as the beautiful rose she has bloomed to be.  Bella Rosa’s adoption fee is $300 and you can fill out at application at www.bassetandbeagle.org. show less

I'm as pretty as a flower and as sweet as a bowl of ice cream!  I am a 65 lb , 4-5 yr old chubby hound mix and my coat has the most beautiful markings.  I love people more than anything!  I had my own person all my life until they passed away, and then ended up in a shelter.  I was not happy there at all...  Thats when the nice people at BBRH rescued me!  One of my favorite things to do is snuggle up close to you and roll around to get belly rubs.  It has been determined that I live my best life if I am an only dog in the house.  I just dont love others doggies as much as I love my humans.  Cats, on the other hand,  dont seem to faze me.  On a leash I can pull and bark at other doggos so need continued work on this, as I love going on walks.  I am housebroken and will go to the door when I need to go out. If you are not paying attention and I really need to go, I will paw at you.   I love car rides, cool floors, watching TV, and couches. When my foster parents leave, I get a little anxious in a kennel and do not love to be in one, and have some separation anxiety.   I will bark and whine but settle down after a few minutes.  I can be a talker and have a personality to match so I probably wouldn't do well in an apartment.  I know some basic commands (like sit) and am eager to learn more.  When you come home I will greet you with my toothy grin, dance around and tell you how much I missed you!   Cutest thing ever. I am  4-5 years old, up to date on all my shots, microchipped and free of heartworms.  Are you my new forever family?   I would love a quieter home, with a fenced in yard and I guarantee many kisses in exchange for belly rubs!   I am being fostered in Omaha.   Applications can be filled out at bassetandbeagle.org ,   Adoption fee $250 . show less

My name is Bradley and I am a 20 pound, super soft, beagle mix.  They tell me that I am about 3 years old.  I am a very special dog looking for a very special home!  Although I do not remember my life prior to coming to BBRH almost 2 years ago, I know I had a very tough life.  All I really remember is that I was and still am terrified of people. It takes me a long time and a lot of treats to warm up and men are the scariest people ever!  But let me tell you that once I do, I love with all of my heart.  I will protect you through thick and thin from all of those other scary people out there.  I will not leave your side. I will snuggle and cuddle with you in bed (I am an undercover sleeper), on the couch or in your chair while you are working.  If you don't want to cuddle, I will gladly sit by your feet on a comfy dog bed.  My foster mom says I am a really good boy for going potty outside and she does not put me in a kennel when she has to leave.  I am getting used to a kennel though.  Sometimes I will lay in one with the door open and my foster mom will feed me in one, she says it is to lessen my fear of it.  I do not think I need one but whatever!  I do not bark or cry when my foster mom is gone but as soon as I hear her coming home I cry with excitement!  I like other dogs so long as they stay away while I am sleeping.  I do have a tendency to snap in my sleep if one gets close enough to startle me.  I will however cuddle with another dog so long as they don't startle me but it is best just to keep them away while I sleep.  I like the older, lazy dogs the best because they don't move as fast but I do like to play with the younger ones.  I like to play and snuggle with the cat in my foster home too!  Since I have been in foster care, I had to have my hernia repaired and surgery on my neck.  The doctors do not know what happened to  cause my neck injury and I do not remember but they said it was very bad and surprised I could still walk. I am better now though! I do take some medicine for my anxiety but I may be able to lower it once I fully trust you and only take during stressful times.  Right now though, I take everyday because I am still terrified of my foster dad unless he is giving me treats!  I am also going through training to learn how to meet new people and get used to other people.  You might not believe it but I have been doing great... But baby steps... Most of the time I am okay in the car when I ride shotgun.  However, sometimes it makes me really anxious and I pant heavily.  Foster mom has not figured why sometimes I get that way and I am not sure how to tell her.  I am slowly learning to walk on a leash.  Sometimes I stop and jump up for you to carry me and other times I will do a little better and just stop to make sure you are there.  We do not go very far at a time (again, we take baby steps) so my foster mom says I would be best in a home with a fence.  If you have patience, like to take baby steps, be surprised and amazed at every new thing I do and want be loved unconditionally then I am the boy for you.  I am up to date on my shots and microchipped, although I am still heartworm positive.  I am doing a "slow-kill" treatment which just consists of taking my heartworm preventative every month but they say it could take up to 5 years for all of the heartwors to die.  I am about 2 years into my treatment but thankfully I am asymptomatic.  Please do consider loving me even with my issues.  I promise that I am worth the love! I am fostered in KC , MO and my adoption fee is $225.00 show less

Hey you!  Are you looking for a little spunk in your life?  Want to stay or get fit?  I am a 5 month old mixed terrier puppy.  I am a very energetic agile puppy with a little spring in my step that loves to run and play. I am also a good walker on the leash and love to go for long walks.  I am also a lover!  I love to be with my people, on my people, and next to my people.  I know sit and I am working on my other commands.  I will kennel up (especially if treats are involved).  I am your typical rambunctious pup that just keeps on going.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles and kisses.  I enjoy playing and wrestling with other dogs.  I have not been exposed to cats yet.  I will need someone with patience that is willing to work with me on my basic commands and potty training as I am not fully trained yet.  You will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  I kennel at night and when my foster family is away.  If you are looking for a puppy that will love LOTS of attention and patience I may be what you are looking for.  I need toys or chew bones to keep me occupied or maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you. I am ready to move into my new home anytime.  I am spayed, microchipped, dewormed and have received my puppy shots along with rabies.  My adoption fee is $300.  Apply for me at www.bassetandbeagle.org if you are ready for a forever companion. I am currently fostered in Omaha NE. show less

What a good boy!!  That is what my foster mom says about me.  Some call me Mr. Handsome - I could win a competition with these looks!!    While I love to spend time outside, sometimes it can be kind of scary for me.  Loud noises and big trucks scare me, but if those arent around me I'm great!  Most of the time we avoid going outside when it's garbage day...  I am getting better everyday as well, on not being so scared of things.   Echo is approximately 2 years old, 40 lbs and a coonhound fox hound mix.  He is a petite and a little skinny so could use a few more pounds on him.  Luckily, like all hounds he is food motivated.   Important facts about Echo: 1. Echo is doing great on potty training!  He will potty on a leash but does not alert me all the time that he needs to go out.  Would do great with a fenced yard! 2. He is resistant to go into the kennel on his own without treat motivation but will settle down.  3. Echo did test positive for heartworms. He has undergone treatment and is finished up, and will require a hw pill each month, just like every other dog! 4. Echo is a very sweet dog with people.  He is loving and gentle, and ready to play with everyone who comes near.  He is also good with other dogs and loves to play.   5. Echo is a bit mischievous.  He likes to get into the trash and counter surf. He requires a choice of chew toys (he told me to say that) 6. Echo is curious and a bit of a busy body (he told me not to say that) who wants to be involved in everything you are doing. He wants to sniff and lick and chew everything you have and interact with you. He likes having his face and muzzle rubbed and getting pets. He’s a gentle lump of a dog! 7. Echo has not been exposed to kids but is curious about them. 8. Echo was on his own for a bit, so he has some behaviors that are consistent with a less than ideal environment. He needs to feel safe and know that he will never be hungry again.   He may growl and bark at another dog while eating.  We suggest separating when special treats are involved and dinner time and never feed off the table. He also gets startled while he’s sleeping. Just a bark but still, he gets frightened. 9. Echo has not been around cats. 10. Echo is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. 11. His adoption fee is $225 12. He is fostered in Omaha. If you would like your own curious, loveable, handsome doggo please apply for ECHO… echo…. echo… (had to do it). show less

This is Frank.  He is a 2 yr old male beagle weighing in at 26 pounds. He has a lemon beagle color with heavy, think, luxurious fur.  Maybe a little bit of basset in him?  He was surrendered from a hunter, since he didn’t hunt and was scared by gun fire.  He wasn’t treated the best since he didn’t hunt.  He has spend his whole living outdoors and/or in kennels.  While this sounds sad, the flip side is being able to watch him become a loving dog again.  He is very loving and loves attention.   Since he was never an inside dog he will need some work on house breaking and manners.  He seems eager to learn and please.  He will also need leash training, since he is not familiar.  He is being kennel trained and is spending the night there.  He is slowing learning, but will howl and bark a bit before settling down.  Once house trained, he would be great companion on the couch. He does well with other dogs, loves to play with them.  We don’t know about cats.  We expect he would do well with young kids.  Would have to learn not to jump up on them.  We believe he would do well with another dog(s) in a home with a fenced in yard, and someone who will be patient with him.  He is still a little timid and loud noises make him nervous. Frank is neutered, up to date on shots, on heart worm preventative and is microchipped. He is fostered in KC.  His adoption fee is $300.  Apps can be filled out for him at bassetandbeagle.org   show less

Good things come to those who wait.  Well, I have been waiting patiently and I am ready for my forever family!! I am a 1 year old lab mix and am a lanky about 50 lbs . I am tall and lanky . I am a bit picky about who I like to play with. Some doggies scare me. I am learning how to be a confident doggie and not scared of other dogs or new situations.  But we feel it would be best if I was the only dog for you and wasnt around doggies   One thing I do love is playing with kids!! I am seeking an active family with kids so I can love on them all the time! Except little ones. I might accidently mow them down with my exuberance but I wont hurt them! I love to run, chase, go on walks, and chew on toys, I must have chew toys! One thing I don't like is outdoor cats. Indoor cats are fine. I am hoping for my very own family soon. I am growing up in my foster home. Are you looking for a doggie who will love you forever? Are you willing to give me a bit of extra time to adjust and settle in? Just FYI, I have mastered potty training, sit, down, stand and off! I am learning ‘leave it’ and ‘watch me’. I am attending behavior classes to help me be confident. I am fostered in Omaha, and due to life situations, will ONLY be adopted out to a new family in OMAHA. Gabe is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped and ready for the best home!         show less

Hey! My name is Rhea! I used to have a home with teenage kids to play with and all the food that I wanted! I thought things were going so well, but I kept getting into fights with the cats. We just could not get along. So now I’m looking for a new home! I’ve had a hard time with that, though... This quarantine business has been crazy, right? Well, while I’ve been waiting, I’ve been working on my girlish figure. I’ve probably lost over 10 pounds in the two months I’ve been in foster care (don’t worry, those pounds needed to go, TRUST me). I have a foster brother, but I would really like being an only fur-baby. I am getting better at sharing my foster mom’s affection, but I definitely wish I had her all to myself. I do have some trust issues... probably because I lost my family that I had known since I was a pup, but I warm up to strangers super fast! Just give me some pets and a treat and I’m all yours! Even though I am a beagle-mix, I have more of a bull-dog body. So I am pretty strong. I tend to do well on walks, but if I see a person or dog, I completely forget my manners and need someone who can hold me back and remind me to be nice until I get better. I do need daily walks so I can keep getting down to a healthy weight. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know if I need to roll around in the grass and rest for a minute, but then I’ll be back up and ready to roll! I’ve learned that I can run and sniff so much better without those extra pounds! I also LOVE to lick and take car rides. I am the snuggliest girl you will ever meet! Wanna give this 6-year-old hunk of love a chance?   Rhea is up to date on all vaccinations, HW neg, spayed, and $225 is her adoption fee. show less

COVID-19 PROJECT #1  Getting a little stir crazy with all the extra time at home? Tired of the same people day in, day out? Meet Winnie.  Winnie is a project dog.  Why a project?  Winnie is scared of people.  We are talking full on run away scared.  Winnie is a jumper so don’t leave food where she can get it.  She is slowly getting more confident and now comes up for small pets.  She needs lots of time, training and love.  So just because you may have the time right now, this will be a long process, and you must have the patience as well.  Because she is a very timid dog we are working on potty training and trust.  She does like the outdoors so she is doing pretty well but she still needs work. Awesome things about Winnie are she is ADORABLE.  Tiny and CUTE at only 18 lbs with adorable white tippy toes and blaze.  She does a cute dance when it is dinner time.  Winnie WANTS to love people.  She just needs time to build trust.  She sleeps all night long.  She loves toys, any and all toys.  We think Winnie would do best in a home with no small children and another dog.  Because she is scared and potentially a runner a secure fence is required.  Winnie is about 2 years old, up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $250.00.  She is currently fostered in Omaha.  Due to current conditions and the fact that she is going to be a tougher case since she is so scared, she will only be adopted out in Omaha.     show less
