About Sadie (westie)

Sadie is a 10 year old, 15 lb Westie/Wheaten Terrier mix. Through no fault of her own, she lost her home and needs to find new digs. Sadie loves to go for walks and hang out on the couch. Sadie is a bit reserved at first and takes time to get to know people. She would do best in a quiet home, as an only dog with dog savvy people and no kids.

PLEASE NOTE:  Adoptions are limited to the Washington DC metropolitan area.

Hi there! My name is Champion, I am a 7 month old Labrador Retriver mix who weighs 32 lbs.  I was found at a beach in Ponce, Puerto Rico when I was 4 months old. I was hungry, underweight, dehydrated and had two bone fractures on my back left leg. I was laying down hiding under bush on 95-degree weather without any hope. Then, my foster family found me and gave me water and food. I was really afraid of them since I never had direct contact with people. They took me home and got me medical care. I was treated for infection and pain. My foster mom called me Champion because she knew I was going to fight for my life against all the odds and win…and I did!! I’m strong, healthy, and happy now. I’m not afraid of people anymore. They couldn’t do anything to repair my leg , I limp a little but I can still use my leg, and each day it is getting stronger. You have to see me run! Humans say that I’m a good looking dog with a soft coat and a cute wet nose. I’m super affectionate! I love belly rubs and like to be next to humans at all times. I love to play ball, and most of the time I’m good at bringing it back and handing it to you. Though I appear nothing but happy and confident, I’m actually a bit insecure and shy, and I love how great it feels to get to know people well and know for sure that they are kind and safe and trustworthy. I get along great with other dogs (big & small), not sure about cats. I live with 4 other dogs at present, and I love playing chase. I'm a goofy bundle of enthusiasm, so I need to join a family with adults or older children. I currently have a big backyard to run and play and would like to have this in my forever home. I also have my own bed in my foster's bedroom. I don’t bother at all at night. Just make sure you keep a toy or a bone next to me just in case I wake up in the middle of the night. I love to eat a lot, so I get a excited at breakfast and dinner time. show less

Paddy is an adorably handsome 3 year old American Bulldog mix and weighs 56 lbs. He is a playful and super cuddly boy with soft eyes and a happy tail that's always wagging. Paddy does great with his two canine foster siblings and loves to play with them. He is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and knows various commands. Paddy loves to run around in the yard and play fetch with a ball; he will always return it to you and knows the command "drop" while sitting patiently waiting for you to throw it again. He likes to tear the stuffing out of soft toys, so durable toys rated for "strong chewers" work best for him. Paddy will sweetly curl up in your lap or lie down beside you to settle down and relax; he adores being with his people. He needs to be sure he can trust new people, so he does best with soft and slow introductions. Once that trust is established, he loves you fiercely and forever! He's a smart, gentle, lovable boy waiting for his forever family. Paddy will do best in a home with a confident and kindhearted leader, and no young children. To submit an adoption application go to:  https://www.petstablished.com/pets/public/256870 Come and meet our PAW dogs at one of our weekend adoption shows at local area pet stores. Hi, I'm Rhiley! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a 2 years young, very beautiful female Border Collie mix. Heavy on the mix! I'm about 25 pounds with short legs and a bit of a potato shaped body. I won’t get any bigger unless I'm fed too many snacks! I really love snacks! My lovely tri-colored coat is soft and medium length. I do enjoy a good gentle brushing. Overall, I'm a pretty mellow pup. When I first arrived at PAW something scary happened. I experienced some seizures. Lucky for me the PAW volunteers took excellent care of me and now I take daily medications. Since starting the medications, I haven't had any seizures. I take my pills easily and willingly. If my foster family isn't home when I need to take my pills, I know how to use my timed feeder to get my needed medicine. I will most likely need to take this medicine the rest of my life. Since I'm full grown, I'm past all that crazy puppy stuff. I don't chew and I potty outside in the yard. I sleep in a crate at night on a nice cozy dog bed. I don't really need the crate, but it is a safe comfortable place for me to stay at night. I am working on basic commands like sit and off. I like to take walks and I'm a pretty easy walker. I like everyone. If I'm not near my foster humans, then I like to hang with the family dogs. If the dogs are playing too hard, then I go hang with the cats. My foster mom says I'm the best foster dog she's every had around her cats. I also like gentle kids. If I see a kid, I often whine and whimper until they come to see me. I'm always hopeful their hands might be full of tasty treats. I have a sensitive side. Sometimes an unexpected touch or brush up against something startles me. I don't try to bite or hurt anyone, but I let out a very loud squeal that might be startling when you first hear it. The more I get to know my surroundings, the less it happens. I can be a little shy at first, but once I am comfortable, I will follow you wherever you go. It's easy to win me over with tasty doggie snacks. Hanging out with a doggie friend that has a similar energy level also helps me feel more confident. If you feel that you can continue with my medical needs and are looking for a very sweet, calm, gentle pup, then I might be the perfect addition to your family!       show less
