My name is Fontaine and I am new here at the Furry Farm. My family got tired of taking care of me and were on the way to have me euthanized when a kind woman brought me to a safe place. I stayed there for a while until one of the farm hands here found me. I’m so happy they did, since I know my new family will find me now, and I will have a place to call home and somebody to play tug with me. Being a solid sized boy in the prime of my life, my biggest dream is to find someone who wants to take me with them as they adventure and see the sites.  We could hike up the mountain, or go to the lake, I don't really care, let's just live life to the fullest.  My foster family has spent time training with me, so I got those basic obedience commands down, and certainly am respectful of rules and only go potty outside.  I'm pretty keen on the belly rubs too!  If you have another doggo my size, I'm down with sharing. Just no cats or other small animals, please.  I'm not going to lie, they drive me crazy and are just not meant to be in my inner circle. The farm hands want only the best for me, so with the help a very generous benefactor I attended a full 6 week board and train with Method K9. Foxy 3yr old 70lb Lab/Pit Mix Spayed Female DAPPV, Rabies, Wormed, Bordetella Microchipped Adoption fee: $200 Going back in time a bit, I’d like to explain a bit about Foxy’s past before we get to the really cool and exciting news about her future.  This young lass went through the ringer early on, with abandonment as a young puppy. A very kind lady felt so bad for her situation at the shelter, so bad, that she was compelled to bring her home. Somewhere in there Foxy missed out on a few vital areas and the timing of socialization.  At the age of 1-1/2yrs Foxy was being re-homed, and the farm reached out.  The similar background, behaviors, and even looks to my own pup drew me to Foxy. So home to the farm she came.  It took her a little bit to trust our family, but in a few months she had settled in nicely becoming quite bonded to us and enjoying play, tug, walks and more.  She had come far with obedience training in the 6 months, but Foxy’s stranger-danger ways were strong.  Almost a year into our program, a very kind couple applied to adopt Foxy and we missed out on a great home for her because we hadn’t addressed this stranger-danger.  What do I mean by stranger-danger?  She will show lip, growl, snarl, or snap.  Not the most welcoming for someone wanting to cuddle a new dog.  Foxy has never bitten anyone, nor has she bitten another animal.  Our commitment to our animals includes their physical needs, medical care, but a big piece of the puzzle with rescue animals is training.  Shelter life does a number, and owners aren’t surrendering dogs because they are amazing dogs that sit there and get pets all day, let’s just lay it out there. So now that we’ve peeled back the layers and exposed the sensitive subject, let’s talk about Foxy’s training.  She is currently in a Board and Train with Method K9 of Post Falls. Our team has been working with Method K9 since our very first foster dog, Turbo back in October 2017.  Our values and beliefs align well with Method K9, and they are our first choice for basic obedience and the only trainer we work with for behavior issues.  When Foxy graduates from Board and Train she will be able to let the world pass her by, coexist with other dogs, and learn strangers really are no danger. There is free training support for Foxy for the rest of her life with Method K9, so her adopters can get some brush ups anytime along the way. This training is not cheap, but it’s not her fault human’s failed her early on, so now we invest in Foxy’s future because she has many years to give her new family and with this training her life will be so amazing! With her desire to be your sole source of attention and snuggles, Foxy would be best around a more mature balanced dog to share her humans with. No small dogs, cats, or children please. Her energy level is moderate, loving a good walk and play through the woods only to come in and nap while you watch the discovery channel.  This girl wants nothing more than to be with you and please. He does great around dogs, but cats are a no-go. Jake will benefit from basic obedience class with his new best friend to build the bond, on top of his great foundation work. He is one of those dogs that just wants to be with his person. Chillin on the dog bed while you check you status updates on a Saturday morning is just dandy for Jake. An ideal home for Jake would have a securely fenced yard, can take him to work daily, works from home, and is able to provide daily exercise.. Jake is energetic and would make an excellent running partner! Theodore – The Chipmunk Litter Neutered Male Pit Mix, Est Birth: 11/4/18 UTD Vaccinations including Rabies, DAPPV, and Bordetella, Microchipped, and Dewormed Good with Kids, Good with Dogs. Good with Cats Adoption Fee $275   Theodore came to the farm, along with his brothers, back in December. These young pups experienced a pretty horrific start to life, but that quickly changed.  Lucky for the boys, the rescue community jumped quickly and Annie was able to get these four chipmunks to safety. She reached out to the farm asking if we could take them in, and with some quick actions we did just that.  The first stop was a vet check, and then getting settled in for some weeks of growing, getting on solid foods, socializing and learning. You see, they were only 4 weeks when they lost their Mom.  With that critical time needed with her and his siblings we went to work with providing these deserving boys the best possible early stages of developing.   Theodore loves his toys and playing with his brothers. He’s likely to go until he drops, tells you just how he’s felling, and will do great in an active household.  Theo has become a social butterfly and loves to adventure around North Idaho. Adoption Donation: $175 Dear Wallace was so loved, but his mother went to a place where he wasn’t allowed to tag along.  Some very dear friends, that love both Wallace and his Mum called upon The Furry Farm.  We opened those barn doors to this little ham hock and let him get all settled. Wally has been exposed to new ideas, and adjusted very well.  Going from being the only dog to living with many dogs proved to be no worries.  He is still loving the walks and undivided attentions on your lap.  He’s crate trained, a true gentlemen waiting for his turn to go outside. We learned he’s not afraid of the lake or swimming. So if you are looking for a smaller water dog, Wallace is your dog!  Watch out, here comes Wally the Wonder Dog!
