About Mallory

Adoption Fee: $250

Mallory is an Alaskan Malamute, born in February 2019. She weighs close to 80 pounds and came to Heartland in October 2019 with her brother Marmaduke from a breeder who was closing his business. Mallory is not yet fully domesticated, but her potty training is solid and she readily accepts crating and her indoor pen. Her leash skills are a work in progress and she seems to be afraid of cars that drive by which may explain her refusal so far to get into the car. She is very solid on the 'sit' command. Mallory is nicely partnered with her littermate Marmaduke and a home together would be ideal, although alternatives will be considered. They both will require a home with breed experience, a large, fenced area (at least 5 feet all around), and a willingness to continue their training. We don’t know yet how she will do with other dogs besides Marmaduke, and it is highly likely that cats and small dogs, in general, are not an option.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative ( puppies age 7 months and older) and microchipped. A puppy's adoption fee is $250.  There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards.

This is Nutmeg, but she’s “Bee” to her foster family. She is over a year old and weighs 15 pounds. She is such a lovely darling. Unfortunately she has been severely undersocialized in her early life which has caused her to have moments of anxiety around new people, so we recommend having a crate for Bee where she can always seek comfort when she feels unsure. After 2 months, she has connected with her foster mom, who has constantly talked to her. She knows her mom’s voice, accepts her offerings of pats and petting. She is gaining confidence in her leash work, but we recommend a double leash when walking her as in her moments of panic she can wiggle her way out of her collar or harness. She has adjusted to a schedule. She knows when it’s time to eat and gets fairly excited for her food. She is happiest when she’s outside because she can run like the wind! It is a delight to see her tail up as she runs about the yard. Despite her ingrained fears, she has progressed extensively in her foster home. Her potential adopter must be aware that she will be a long-term work in progress. She is still not completely housebroken, even though she is comfortable using the doggie door. She must be in a home with at least another dog. She loves to play and needs a dog to boost her confidence. She needs access to a large, secure yard where she can run off her energy. She’s looking for her forever person to have lots of patience, be calm, yet firm, and to see the potential deep inside her beautiful, brown eyes. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. Bella

Hound (Unknown Type)

Meet Bella!  An older gal, we are told about 8 years old...but maybe more.  Bella is about 40 pounds, a Hound/Collie mix and leash trained.  She has been crated as well, but in her foster home she has her own room that is gated and does well in there by herself when her foster mom is away.  She was surrendered to a rural shelter in Kentucky and was quite scared that she could barely keep herself upright on her wobbly legs.  When she arrived to Heartland she had hair loss due to fleas, urine scald on her hind legs, flea dirt and her coat was overall just a mess.  Her fleas are now gone thanks to monthly prevention.  Her hair is growing back.  Her coat is looking great due to routine baths.  Her urine scald is healed as well.  Bella has been a great foster!  Quite easy actually.  She has great house manners, but she needs to be kept on a schedule or she will dribble in her bed (thus the urine scald on her legs).  Bella will also alert you if she needs to go outside.  We have put Bella on a supplement to help her bladder as well.  Bella has met other dogs and done well; she has also met cats and did great too.  She likes to spend her days relaxing on a comfy padded bed with some blankets, add a few trips outside for potty breaks and exploring outside for a bit, and maybe a walk...she's quite easy.  Bella also enjoys a tasty treat to keep her teeth clean.  As you can see from Bella's photo she has unique bi-color eyes and we have noted some vision loss.  This beautiful lady is ready to find her furever home! All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative and microchipped. A senior dogs adoption fee is $100.  There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards. show less
