About Hank

Hank is the man!! This handsome 4-5 year old Collie mix has a gorgeous white and tan coat with some small touches of black trim. He is a bit too thin at just 43 pounds, and could use another 4-5 pounds to reach his perfect weight. Hank is housebroken, crate-trained, rides nicely in the car and walks pretty well on leash! He is just starting to learn his basic commands.
Hank loves people and has a very gentle way about him. He is calm, absolutely loves to be petted, loves to share the couch for snuggles, and basically just loves hanging out with his foster family. We don’t think that Hank has spent much time in a home because exploring new rooms and new floor coverings made him a bit anxious at first, but now that he is in a home he loves it! He enjoys his crate and happily sleeps in the crate at night. Hank also enjoys his foster dog pals. They are smaller than him and not pushy at all, and he seems to appreciate how they “show him the ropes”. He is not really playful with other dogs, but he does enjoy sharing the couch, the floor and his outdoor time with them. He has not been tested with cats, but we think that he might be a little too interested in them.
The ideal home for Hank is a quieter one, with a family or person who is looking for a great dog pal with a big heart. If you have the patience to work with this gentle boy and show him how great the world can be, he will be your best friend for life and continue to blossom into your most wonderful companion. A fenced yard is required, another gentle dog pal or two would be great, and children over the age of 10 are fine with him. If you can imagine sharing your couch with Hank apply today! Hank is fostered in Cordele, Georgia.

SHARING AN UPDATE ON SIR SPOT!!! This guy is doing so well. Showing off his beautiful coat as it grows back - gorgeous deep colors! Sir Spot is a sweet, happy male Australian Shepherd “of a certain age” who is ready for his new home. Given up by his owner who could no longer keep her dogs, Sir Spot is 11 years old and weighs 65 pounds – a good weight for him. His beautiful red merle coat was so matted that we had no choice but to have him shaved, but you can see it is growing back and looking gorgeous! Sir Spot is housebroken, crate-trained (but not a crate enthusiast!) and rides nicely in the car. He knows his basic obedience commands, walks pretty well on leash and has excellent recall off leash. Sir Spot is in pretty good shape for an 11-year-old, with just a touch of arthritis that is not surprising! Sir Spot loves people, and although a little shy when he meets someone new he warms up quickly. He has learned to love neck scratches, back rubs and even a butt scratch or two! He is a Velcro guy who enjoys hanging out with people, whether it is playing fetch (his very favorite game), going for walks or just sharing the living room. Sir Spot also gets along fine with other dogs, male and female, but is not really playful with them. He has not been cat tested. The ideal home for Sir Spot is with a person or family who will make sure that he gets the exercise he needs to keep his muscles and joints in top shape - walks and games of fetch are just what he needs and loves!  Another dog would be fine but he would be very happy as an only dog, and a fenced yard would be nice. If Sir Spot sounds like your next best friend, apply today! Sir Spot is fostered in Hermitage, TN show less

Young Uma Furman is a little dynamo of a Border Collie who is ready for her new home!  She is just over a year old, weighs 30 pounds, and has a soft, short-haired, black and white coat.  Uma is housebroken, crate-trained and knows her basic obedience commands.  She does well walking on leash and rides nicely in the car. Uma loves people, she is so sweet and submissive, and she REALLY wants to find a family of her own.  Uma is such a little athlete and she loves to run around and play chase with her foster family.  With some consistent training she would make a great “sport” dog, such as agility or flyball!  After a rousing playtime she will come looking for snuggles and kisses, and if it was up to Uma she would be getting belly rubs every hour!  Uma also loves to play with other dogs as long as they are not the domineering type (she sees herself as the little queen of the castle).  She will chase cats, so a home without cats is required. The ideal home for Uma is an active one, with an athletic person or family who is looking for a 4-legged athlete to join in on all the activities.  A commitment to training AND fun is important.  Non-dominant dogs and children over the age of 12 are welcome, and a fenced yard is important given how she loves to chase.  If you are looking for a small personal trainer who will keep you on your toes and absolutely love you forever, Uma Furman may be your girl!  Uma is fostered near Richmond, VA.   show less
