About BlueBelle - fostered in Omaha

I'm as pretty as a flower and as sweet as a bowl of ice cream!  I am a 65 lb , 4-5 yr old chubby hound mix and my coat has the most beautiful markings.  I am the best family gal in the world.  I love kids, love to cuddle on the couch or chair with my family.  I had my own person all my life until they passed away, and then ended up in a shelter.  I was not happy there at all...  Thats when the nice people at BBRH rescued me!  One of my favorite things to do is snuggle up close to you and roll around to get belly rubs.  It has been determined that I live my best life if I am an only dog in the house.  I just dont love others doggies as much as I love my humans.  Cat mesmorize me so I need to stay away from those too.  I am a good listener and will follow you from room to room.  I love to feel part of a family and want to protect you.

On a leash I can pull and bark at other doggos so need continued work on this, as I love going on walks.  I have never had an accident in the house and will go to the door when I need to go out. If you are not paying attention and I really need to go, I will paw at you.   I love car rides, cool floors, watching TV, and couches.

When my foster parents leave, I get a little anxious in a kennel and do not love to be in one, so they leave me out in the house and I am just fine.  After barking for a bit I calm down quickly.    When you get home I talk to you and tell you how much I missed you, and show you my toothy grin, dance around and tell you how much I missed you!   Cutest thing ever.  All around I am the greatest dog ever is what my foster family says.

I am  4-5 years old, up to date on all my shots, microchipped and free of heartworms.  Are you my new forever family?   I would love a home, with a fenced in yard and I guarantee many kisses in exchange for belly rubs!   I am being fostered in Omaha.   Applications can be filled out at bassetandbeagle.org ,   Adoption fee $250 .

Seniors are the best!  Meet Badger!  Badger is an 8 year old male beagle who was relinquished by his owner with his buddy Missy (also available for adoption). It’s taken Badger a bit to warm up to his foster family. He can still be very cautious and scared sometimes when approached too quickly or unexpectedly. Once he gets to know you he REALLY enjoys being loved on, petted and belly scratched. Badger may be a bit hard of hearing which may explain why he is easily startled. Badger may be 8 years old but he still gets the zoomies about once a day and flies around the yard or house looking to play. Badger likes going for walks and is good on a leash, but prefers a collar rather than a harness. Badger does well with other dogs and has been with his friend Missy for sometime. Both dogs could be adopted together as they are already good buddies. Badger is kennel trained but does fuss a bit when he is first put in the kennel. He does settle down after a little while. Pretty sure this guy had it rough before being rescued and you can tell he is just so happy to be loved and paid attention to. Badger is vocal, he grunts and groans and huffs and puffs. It’s so cute. Badger likes to lay around and snooze, but he does need something to do throughout the day. If left unattended for extended periods or left out in the yard for a long time he will start barking. Mostly out of boredom. Once you call him or pay attention to him for a bit he will settle down. Badger would do good with a family that is around and where there is some action, but he is not your running dog, his older hips and legs just can't keep up for too long. Badger is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots.  He is fostered in the Omaha area and his adoption fee is $300.00.  You can fill out an application today at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

My name is Copper.  I am a 10 year young lemon beagle looking for my forever home and family.  Before coming to live with foster mama, my sister and I lived with a nice man who was in the military.  He was being sent overseas and couldn’t take us.  BBRH stepped up and said they would find great forever homes for us. I like where I live, don’t get me wrong.  My doggy brothers and sisters are great and so is foster mama even though we all think we don’t enough treats.  I get along with other dogs – not sure about cats because foster mama doesn’t think I’ve been around one.  Squirrels should beware, however!  I love chasing them around the backyard and barking at them.  The squirrels here are mean and deserve it because they run on top of the backyard fence and tease us.  I’m part of the choir that greats the mailman, too.  They say I’m an alto whatever that is.  I’m kennel and house trained but foster mama lets us have the run of the house when she’s gone and we’re all good.  I dance and look at mama when I have to go out.  We have a doggy window here so I’m sure I could get used to a doggy door.  There’s a ramp outside so we can get out in the yard easier because all my foster brothers and sisters are older.  My foster brother Bernard is blind and almost 16 and I’m extra good with him.   I am like all beagles and love to eat.  When our bowls aren’t filled fast enough for meals I let this lady know she’s slow and we’re starving to death.  As long as we’re talking about food, I’ll admit I love treats and take them real nice.  I should get more for that right??  I even dance for food and treats hoping to get more.  We all get special treats for our joints with glucosamine in – mama calls them medicine treats .  They sure taste good so that glucosamine must be a good thing.   Car rides are a favorite thing - I’m real good and lay down.  Sometimes I sit up to see where we’re going but I stay in one place which mama says is good.  I share mama real good with the other dogs.  I like to snuggle her and get petted (sometimes I even fall asleep while she does it).  But I let the other doggies have their turns with mama too.  This mama lady has a real big bed and lets us all sleep with her. My thyroid doesn’t work perfect and I have something called Cushing’s Disease.  It just means I have to go to the doggy doctor and have my blood checked to see how I’m doing.  I take a pill in the morning and evening with my food for each and I’m doing ok.  My blood levels are normal as long as I take the medicine but I’ll have to have a check up every few months to make sure I’m still doing good.  There’s no reason I shouldn’t live a long life as long if I listen to the doggy doctor and take the Vetoryl for Cushing’s and a little pill for my thyroid.   I am up to date on all of my shots, microchipped, neutered and heartworm negative.    My adoption fee is $250 and I'm currently being fostered in the Kansas City area.  If you're ready for a older, laid back gent that has nothing but love to give, please apply to adopt me at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

Pretty as a daisy is our Maisy!  Maisy is an approximately 2 year old beagle mix that was dumped in the country in Missouri.  Lucky for Maisy she was found by a good Samaritan who helped her get on her feet.  Unfortunately, Maisy is a player and the resident beagle is a fragile small beagle so Maisy finds herself looking for a home that is ready for an energetic, playful 35 lb pup. The perfect home for Maisy would have a 6 ft fence- she’s a jumper!, another dog similar sized doggie friend to play with or an active human, no cats- she likes them a little too much, and a home that will love her.  Maisy is crate trained and working really hard on house breaking and manners.  She is a gentle treat taker and she wants you to know she LOVES treats.  Maisy goes to dog daycare a few times a month and everyone says she is a sweet puppers. Maisy may not have had a great life before she was rescued so she does cower and flatten in new situations.  She is also a little frightened of being picked up.  Maisy just needs love, continued training and a dog friend she can play with. Maisy is fostered in St Joe, MO.  She is spayed, HW negative, up to date on shots and she will be microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300.  You can apply for Maisy at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

Who’s one of the most easy-breezy-snuggly beagles ever with the cutest underbite? Well, that’s ME! Hi, I’m Maysel. The vet estimated that I am 2ish and I’m a petite girl at just under 20 lbs. Before coming into rescue, I was a hunting dog. Living outside with my brothers and sisters was the life I had. So, I am learning what it means to be this thing they call a house dog. But so far, I’ve discovered my hobbies are finding soft places to take naps (I may snore, hope you’re ok with that) and curling up next to my foster lady. She tries to get me to play, but I don’t really know what that means yet. Walks and being outside are also some of my favorite things to do. But I have to warn you, if I smell something, AARRRROOOOO! I’m on the hunt! Being a little girl, I can wiggle almost anywhere, including under a fence gap to chase the scent. I’m pretty good at going potty outside. My foster lady even says that I did great in a kennel when she was gone for a few hours. I just laid down and snoozed. She also says that I’m good with other dogs, but I may be a little timid at first if they are bigger than me. My homework has been working on my manners. I can get a little pushy when I want attention. But I know what it means when she says sit, and I want to learn more to be a good girl. So, what do you think? Do you have room on the couch to snuggle with me? If you do, fill out an application at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/! I’d love to meet you. Maysel is fostered in Omaha, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and spayed.  Her adoption fee is $350.00. show less

Please meet Miss Missy Moo. Missy Moo is a 9 yr old female beagle. She came into rescue after her owner had to relinquish her and her buddy (Badger). In just a couple months Missy is learning how to really live the good life. She loves to go for walks, she loves to lay around and sleep and she gives great kisses. It may take her a while to be comfortable in her forever home since she is a bit shy. Missy Moo is potty trained, crate trained and recently lost some extra weight she had put on. Her fur is so soft and she just loves to hang out by you. She is not very active but will break out and play with her foster dog brother and sister every once in a while. Missy Moo is great with other dogs, but she likes to be the boss. She would do best if she can be the boss of the house and might not do good with a real dominant dog. She also really likes food so don't leave your snacks laying within her reach as she will likely help herself.  Kids frighten her, she barks at them and takes quite awhile to settle, so it will be best to have only older kids in her forever home. Can you offer Miss Missy Moo her forever home? Missy Moo is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped. She is fostered in the Omaha area.  Her adoption fee is $275  If interested in adoption please apply at www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication show less

Her name is Gracie, but she quickly became known as Momma.  She had been through quite a life and when we received Momma and her 4 pups at just a few weeks old.  We kept all until her 4 babies found their forever families. Momma is a great Beagle and beats to her own drum. She’s definitely an old soul.  At approx 7-8 yrs old, she’s quiet and very friendly with other animals (we have multiple resident dogs and cats that she interacts with). She is child friendly and really just wants to lay around and be with her people.  Although she enjoys walks, she is inactive when indoors.  Momma Grace loves a nice blanket and afternoon naps!  I worked remotely most of the year and she really loved sitting my office couch basking in the sun. She loves her fluffy bed and just being with her people. We have a Basset puppy who has taken an affinity to Momma.  She gets her to play wrestle when they are outside. She’s apprehensive with strangers, but is always friendly.  Mama Grace is heartworm positive and currently being treated for that. She will be available once cleared in November. We would consider her house trained, but she regularly goes outside with all the dogs and she stays in her kennel overnight and when we are away from the house. Momma was food aggressive with her puppies and we’ve always fed her individually, though she’s never displayed aggression towards our resident dogs. She was 23.8 lbs at her last visit and is all current with her Rabies and other vaccinations until mid 2021. Momma Grace is microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $300 and is currently being fostered in Omaha, NE.  Please apply to adopt Momma Grace at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less
