Boo is about as loving as they come! She adores being petted and she chirps her satisfaction and appreciation off and on while she is being loved. Boo is a very big girl - she doesn't miss a meal. She loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters, running full speed through the house. She has a blast with all of the younger kittens too. Boo is very serious when it comes to keeping the younger crew clean - she holds them down with a paw and bathes them at least twice a day. :) She always can be found cuddled up with the kittens or one of her other foster friends.  As you can see, Boo is a "pirate" kitty - as she has only one good eye. She has permanent scarring on her right eye from infection that was resistant to every type of medicine prescribed. Our vet indicates that she most likely has very little, if any, sight in that eye as a result of the scarring. Boo's scarred eye waters frequently but she takes it all in stride - she knows she's beautiful even though she isn't perfect by the world's standards. She lets her foster mom wipe her eye as often as needed, unless she is playing - she does not like play being interrupted.  Boo loves the big dog in her foster home and is great with children of all ages. You can submit an adoption application for Boo at www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Boo. show less

Chibi is a word for "small child" child in Japanese. When Chibi came to her foster home, she was about 6 weeks old but was only the size of about a two week old. She was extremely tiny for a very long time. She is still a small cat. She has an exotic look - she is a beautiful cat. Chibi is loving, sweet and still plays a great deal. She gets along with other cats when she wants to and loves her foster mom's dog. She has been fine around small children as well.  Chibi has a condition called stomatitis which causes extremely painful ulcers to form in her mouth and on her gums. Stomatitis is an auto-immune disorder. She gets a steroid shot when she starts having problems and it has worked wonderfully for her. Some cats with stomatitis may eventually have to have their teeth pulled if the condition can no longer be controlled by the steroids. Because of her need for careful monitoring so that she doesn't have to be in needless pain and can be taken for the steroid injection sooner rather than later, Chibi is considered special needs.  She is an awesome, beautiful girl that is a perfectly healthy cat other than her having stomatitis! She will give you loads of love for the rest of her life!! Please contact hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions about Chibi. Dom is a people watcher. He is wants to be a profiler for the FBI when he grows up. He can usually be found watching somebody, even his litter mates and foster siblings. He seems to quietly study his subjects, carefully pinpointing different traits. If his subject is a human, he finds any movement you make in his general direction to be an encroachment on his personal space and he will immediately vacate the area. Feline subjects that approach him are quietly regarded until they are within acceptable range for pouncing and engaging in ninja type maneuvers. If playing is ensued, Dom sheds his profiling persona and acts like the playful little ninja cat he is! He loves playing in the tub (without water please), racing up and down the cat tree, stalking his buddies and playing in empty boxes.  Dom is not into a lively social scene and prefers a more quiet, laid back lifestyle. Loud children will cause him to become invisible (he'll never come out of hiding!) If you are looking for a cuddle bug that is attentive, loving and excited to see you, keep looking - Dom is NOT your kitty. He will do absolutely nothing for your self-esteem. Dom thinks all that lovey-dovey crap is for dogs. He doesn't mind dogs at all - he thinks they are oafs and entirely too people pleasing! He would like a home with a family that will understand the role they will play in his life - the role of a servant. Occasionally, you will be (grudgingly) allowed to scratch him once or twice. He is wide open at three scratches. As snobbish as he is, Dom has a weakness for the elusive red dot - always use this to your advantage. You can submit an adoption application for Dom at www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Dom. show less

They call me Grayson.  Everyone who sees me says "OMG, what a beautiful cat!  Don't they know I am an alpha male?  I am Handsome, and I know it. When we first meet, I may be a little nonchalant.  But, if I like you, I just might sit next to you or, if I really like you, I’ll sit on your lap and allow you to massage me.  I know what you’ll say when you touch me, "His fur is so luxurious".  I take very good care of my appearance.  There’s a lot of pressure when your only outfit is a velvet, gray tuxedo. My friend, Oscar, is my best bud.  We’d like to stay together, if possible.  As I said, I’m an alpha male.  He’s not.  So he lets me be the boss. Sometimes, I get very scared and I act crazy.  The first time I went inside, I freaked out and went berserk.  But, now, I love being inside where it is safe and clean and my paws stay much cleaner using a litterbox than digging in the dirt. Although I may take a little time to trust you, I am a very loving, gentle companion.  If you don’t have any other pets, Oscar and I would love to be a part of your family. I am FIV+, but don't let that scare you - I can live safely with spayed/neutered, FIV- cats inside without any problems. Ask my adoption screener and she can give you all the information you need. You can also Google FIV+ cats and learn about us. We are awesome cats!! Seriously? Do I look unhealthy? Do I look like a cat that fights? Of course not!!  I can't wait to meet you!!  show less

This is Hopper Ross, a 2 year old pure bred GSD.  He was given up by his owners because they had fallen on hard times and were unable to afford to take care of him.  It has taken us some time to return him to a healthy state.  He came to us extremely thin and malnurished and he had heartworms.  Over time, we have been able to restore him to a healthy weight and he has bsuccessfully been treated for heartworms.  Hopper Ross loves people, he is very sweet and affectionate.  However, he can be finicky around other dogs, especially males.  He will not tolerate an ill behaved dog getting in his face and he will not back down from a fight if he is antogonized.  He either needs to be an only dog or in a home with a very laid back female that will give him plenty of space.  He is will also chase cats, therefore we do not recommend a home with felines.  He has been around older children, we are not sure how he would do with little ones.  Hopper Ross walks well on leash and knows some basic commands.  He will be an excellent pet for the right home.  He is up to date with shots, neutered, on heartworm prevention and housebroken.  For adoption, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 which includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We do require in person travel. show less

This sweet dog is Jojo, she is a rat terrier mix around 3-4 years old.  Jojo and another small male dog (who was likely her son) were picked up as strays by animal control and not reclaimed.  Her male companion was healthy and adopted quickly.  It has taken us some time to get Jojo to a healthy state and ready to be adopted.  She came in pregnant and positive for heartworms.  We were concerned giving birth to a litter would be difficult for her and there was a strong chance of complications.  We decided to spay her and then let her recover for a while before starting heartworm treatment.  Jojo has now finished treatment and she is healthy and ready to go!  Jojo is a very sweet dog -she loves people and is happy to be where ever you are.  She is good with other dogs and likes kids.  She is way too interested in cats so we would not recommend her for a home with cats.  She is smart and eager to please.  Jojo is up to date with vaccinations, on heartworm prevention, spayed and housebroken.  For adoption, please visit our website at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 which includes veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screened, you may submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We do require in person travel. show less

This precious puppy is Lucy (DOB Jan 2020), a pure bred Feist puppy looking for a home.  Lucy was surrendered to us by her breeder when she as 4 weeks old.  Unfortunatley her mother decided motherhood was not for her and attacked her litter.  Lucy was the most wounded of the litter and the breeder could not afford her vet care.  One of Lucy's eyes had to be removed and the other one is impaired.  She can see some but it is limited sight.  She also lost a bit of her tongue and has a bit of ear missing.  That is the bad news.  The good news is that Lucy has a zest for life like no other dog we have seen in a long time.  She is super friendly and outgoing and her spirit has not been at all affected by what has happened to her.  She runs and plays like a normal puppy.  Lucy is active and will need a home that can meet her energy requirements.  She will eventually wear herself out and become a sleepy cuddle bug but she does love to play.  She is good with other dogs, is fine with cats and would be great for a home with kids that are looking for a dog that wouldn't mind some rough play.  Lucy is up to date with shots, spayed, negative for heartworms/on prevention and is learning housebreaking, we are not quite there yet but she will hold it while being crated.  If you think you are a fit for Lucy, please visit our website at www.myhstc.org to submit an adoption application. Adoption fee is $85 which includes all vet work We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org show less
