About Lilah Jayne - adoption pending

Hi everyone!  Isn’t today awesome? I am a 4 year old, spayed female, beagle mix being fostered in Council Bluffs, IA. My foster mom says she named me Lilah because I am a petite beagle which she thinks fits perfectly. While I have bouts of energy my favorite place to be is laying in your lap and snuggling or following my people around the house. I have only had a couple accidents since being in rescue. I will go into the kennel for treats and don't have accidents while I am in there. I love treats and will do just about anything for them. I get along well with kids, dogs, and cats and love to ensue play with them all, especially the cat because she lets me chase her! I am really just a love bug. I walk on the leash well, although when I get startled I will shelter by your feet. When I get excited I like to jump like a bouncy ball, but I have been working really hard to get better. Sometimes when I am left alone and get bored I might get into a bit of mischief but my foster mom says I aim to please and will redirect well. Oh and I LOVE kids.

NOTES FROM HER FOSTER FAMILY:

Lilah is a special dog. She can be shy and timid at first and will likely cower if approached quickly or gets startled, however once she feels comfortable she becomes more confident she is such a happy, sweet, snuggly, playful dog. This means she will need a family who is willing to work with her and give her the time needed to adjust. It should be noted that while she had a few accidents when she first came into foster care, she may need an understanding family that will help her adjust to her new surrounds and re-learn her potty training skills, it will likely come with time as she becomes comfortable and confident in her new home. I also want to add that she doesn’t typically give signals when she needs to go but will go out and potty whenever I let our dogs outside. While with her foster family, Lilah goes outside to potty once in the morning, once at dinner time, and once before bed. I attempted to take her out on the leash to potty with no luck so she will probably need a backyard where she can go freely.

Lilah has a chronic flea allergy and likely seasonal allergies as well therefore she will need ongoing treatment for that. So monthly flea treatment and an OTC allergy medicine and she is good to go!

Lilah Jayne is spayed, on heartworm and flea preventative, up to date on shots and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $300.  Apply for Lilah at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/

I'm as pretty as a flower and as sweet as a bowl of ice cream!  I am a 65 lb , 4-5 yr old chubby hound mix and my coat has the most beautiful markings.  I am the best family gal in the world.  I love kids, love to cuddle on the couch or chair with my family.  I had my own person all my life until they passed away, and then ended up in a shelter.  I was not happy there at all...  Thats when the nice people at BBRH rescued me!  One of my favorite things to do is snuggle up close to you and roll around to get belly rubs.  It has been determined that I live my best life if I am an only dog in the house.  I just dont love others doggies as much as I love my humans.  Cat mesmorize me so I need to stay away from those too.  I am a good listener and will follow you from room to room.  I love to feel part of a family and want to protect you. On a leash I can pull and bark at other doggos so need continued work on this, as I love going on walks.  I have never had an accident in the house and will go to the door when I need to go out. If you are not paying attention and I really need to go, I will paw at you.   I love car rides, cool floors, watching TV, and couches. When my foster parents leave, I get a little anxious in a kennel and do not love to be in one, so they leave me out in the house and I am just fine.  After barking for a bit I calm down quickly.    When you get home I talk to you and tell you how much I missed you, and show you my toothy grin, dance around and tell you how much I missed you!   Cutest thing ever.  All around I am the greatest dog ever is what my foster family says. I am  4-5 years old, up to date on all my shots, microchipped and free of heartworms.  Are you my new forever family?   I would love a home, with a fenced in yard and I guarantee many kisses in exchange for belly rubs!   I am being fostered in Omaha.   Applications can be filled out at bassetandbeagle.org ,   Adoption fee $250 . show less

My name is Bradley and I am a 20 pound, super soft, beagle mix.  They tell me that I am about 3 years old.  I am a very special dog looking for a very special home!  Although I do not remember my life prior to coming to BBRH almost 2 years ago, I know I had a very tough life.  All I really remember is that I was and still am terrified of people. It takes me a long time and a lot of treats to warm up and men are the scariest people ever!  But let me tell you that once I do, I love with all of my heart.  I will protect you through thick and thin from all of those other scary people out there.  I will not leave your side. I will snuggle and cuddle with you in bed (I am an undercover sleeper), on the couch or in your chair while you are working.  If you don't want to cuddle, I will gladly sit by your feet on a comfy dog bed.  My foster mom says I am a really good boy for going potty outside and she does not put me in a kennel when she has to leave.  I am getting used to a kennel though.  Sometimes I will lay in one with the door open and my foster mom will feed me in one, she says it is to lessen my fear of it.  I do not think I need one but whatever!  I do not bark or cry when my foster mom is gone but as soon as I hear her coming home I cry with excitement!  I like other dogs so long as they stay away while I am sleeping.  I do have a tendency to snap in my sleep if one gets close enough to startle me.  I will however cuddle with another dog so long as they don't startle me but it is best just to keep them away while I sleep.  I like the older, lazy dogs the best because they don't move as fast but I do like to play with the younger ones.  I like to play and snuggle with the cat in my foster home too!  Since I have been in foster care, I had to have my hernia repaired and surgery on my neck.  The doctors do not know what happened to  cause my neck injury and I do not remember but they said it was very bad and surprised I could still walk. I am better now though! I do take some medicine for my anxiety but I may be able to lower it once I fully trust you and only take during stressful times.  Right now though, I take everyday because I am still terrified of my foster dad unless he is giving me treats!  I am also going through training to learn how to meet new people and get used to other people.  You might not believe it but I have been doing great... But baby steps... Most of the time I am okay in the car when I ride shotgun.  However, sometimes it makes me really anxious and I pant heavily.  Foster mom has not figured why sometimes I get that way and I am not sure how to tell her.  I am slowly learning to walk on a leash.  Sometimes I stop and jump up for you to carry me and other times I will do a little better and just stop to make sure you are there.  We do not go very far at a time (again, we take baby steps) so my foster mom says I would be best in a home with a fence.  If you have patience, like to take baby steps, be surprised and amazed at every new thing I do and want be loved unconditionally then I am the boy for you.  I am up to date on my shots and microchipped, although I am still heartworm positive.  I am doing a "slow-kill" treatment which just consists of taking my heartworm preventative every month but they say it could take up to 5 years for all of the heartwors to die.  I am about 2 years into my treatment but thankfully I am asymptomatic.  Please do consider loving me even with my issues.  I promise that I am worth the love! I am fostered in KC , MO and my adoption fee is $225.00 show less

This is Frank.  He is a 2 yr old male beagle weighing in at 26 pounds. He has a lemon beagle color with heavy, think, luxurious fur.  Maybe a little bit of basset in him?  He was surrendered from a hunter, since he didn’t hunt and was scared by gun fire.  He wasn’t treated the best since he didn’t hunt.  He has spend his whole living outdoors and/or in kennels.  While this sounds sad, the flip side is being able to watch him become a loving dog again.  He is very loving and loves attention.   Since he was never an inside dog he will need some work on house breaking and manners.  He seems eager to learn and please.  He will also need leash training, since he is not familiar.  He is being kennel trained and is spending the night there.  He is slowing learning, but will howl and bark a bit before settling down.  Once house trained, he would be great companion on the couch. He does well with other dogs, loves to play with them.  We don’t know about cats.  We expect he would do well with young kids.  Would have to learn not to jump up on them.  We believe he would do well with another dog(s) in a home with a fenced in yard, and someone who will be patient with him.  He is still a little timid and loud noises make him nervous. Frank is neutered, up to date on shots, on heart worm preventative and is microchipped. He is fostered in KC.  His adoption fee is $300.  Apps can be filled out for him at bassetandbeagle.org   show less

Hello all you wonderful people out there!  I am Gabby Pants and I am as beautiful as a princess and as sweet as a southern peach!  Since I am only 6 months old, you would think I would be a rambunctious puppy, but honestly my favorite thing to do is cuddle.  Unlike other puppies my age, I do not chew on everything either. I love people of all ages and love to give kisses.  I love other dogs (especially the ones I can play with) and even cats.  As long as I have my people other dogs are necessary but always fun! If you have to leave me alone all day I would really like to have a dog friend with me. I am house broken and can sleep all night in a kennel after a few pitiful cries and I would prefer not to be kenneled.  My favorite place to sleep at night is in bed with my foster parents and other dog siblings.  I am easy to sleep and cuddle with since I am a petite little thing at only 20 pounds and I do not think I will get much bigger. I can sometimes be a little shy and skittish but usually get over that pretty quickly.  So you must be wondering why I am in foster care.  Well, my previous mom decided that she did not have the time for me.  I did not do anything wrong. She just worked a lot and thought I would be better off with a family that would be around more to teach and guide me.  My foster mom says that I should be easy to teach since I love food of all varieties. Did someone say treats? I am up to date on all of my vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and spayed.  So now that you have read how wonderful I am, how could you not want to take me home?  I am just sitting here, waiting for you!  My adoption fee is $350 and I am being fostered in the Kansas City area. Pretty as a daisy is our Maisy!  Maisy is an approximately 2 year old beagle mix that was dumped in the country in Missouri.  Lucky for Maisy she was found by a good Samaritan who helped her get on her feet.  Unfortunately, Maisy is a player and the resident beagle is a fragile small beagle so Maisy finds herself looking for a home that is ready for an energetic, playful 35 lb pup. The perfect home for Maisy would have a 6 ft fence- she’s a jumper!, another dog similar sized doggie friend to play with or an active human, no cats- she likes them a little too much, and a home that will love her.  Maisy is crate trained and working really hard on house breaking and manners.  She is a gentle treat taker and she wants you to know she LOVES treats.  Maisy goes to dog daycare a few times a month and everyone says she is a sweet puppers. Maisy may not have had a great life before she was rescued so she does cower and flatten in new situations.  She is also a little frightened of being picked up.  Maisy just needs love, continued training and a dog friend she can play with. Maisy is fostered in St Joe, MO.  She is spayed, HW negative, up to date on shots and she will be microchipped. Her adoption fee is $300.  You can apply for Maisy at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single beagle in possession of a good temperament, must be in want of a forever home. (Sorry Jane Austen, but his name is Charles Bingley!) Hi, my name is Mr. Charles Bingley but my foster mom calls me Bing. I am a very rambunctious  1- 2 year old beagle mix! I love toys and will chew on just about anything! And I mean anything so you probably should puppy proof the house when you fall in love and adopt me.  My mom says I am a funny boy. I go go go until I can't go anymore!! I am full grown weighing in at 15 lbs and will be a super awesome friend when you get to know me. When tired, I love to snuggle with my foster mom. She lets me sleep in bed with her and I can't get close enough! Foster mom here… Bingley is a great dog. He still has a lot of puppy in him. He craves a lot of attention. I think he would do best with older kids. He loves other dogs and will play with them for as long as they want. It would be best if he has a doggie friend in his new home.  He is learning how to play fetch and does a good job of bringing the ball or toy back which is unusual for a lot of beagles. Bingley is not quite housebroken yet but we are working on it. Bingley is up to date on shots, HW negative, microchipped and neutered. He does need minor surgery on the 12th to remove some dangling dew claws that are floppy and a potential tear risk.  His adoption fee is $300.  You can apply for Mr Bingley at https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/adoptionapplication/ show less

Hey! My name is Rhea! I used to have a home with teenage kids to play with and all the food that I wanted! I thought things were going so well, but I kept getting into fights with the cats. We just could not get along. So now I’m looking for a new home! I’ve had a hard time with that, though... This quarantine business has been crazy, right? Well, while I’ve been waiting, I’ve been working on my girlish figure. I’ve probably lost over 10 pounds in the two months I’ve been in foster care (don’t worry, those pounds needed to go, TRUST me). I have a foster brother, but I would really like being an only fur-baby. I am getting better at sharing my foster mom’s affection, but I definitely wish I had her all to myself. I do have some trust issues... probably because I lost my family that I had known since I was a pup, but I warm up to strangers super fast! Just give me some pets and a treat and I’m all yours! Even though I am a beagle-mix, I have more of a bull-dog body. So I am pretty strong. I tend to do well on walks, but if I see a person or dog, I completely forget my manners and need someone who can hold me back and remind me to be nice until I get better. I do need daily walks so I can keep getting down to a healthy weight. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know if I need to roll around in the grass and rest for a minute, but then I’ll be back up and ready to roll! I’ve learned that I can run and sniff so much better without those extra pounds! I also LOVE to lick and take car rides. I am the snuggliest girl you will ever meet! Wanna give this 6-year-old hunk of love a chance?   Rhea is up to date on all vaccinations, HW neg, spayed, and $225 is her adoption fee. show less

Stubborn is as stubborn does.....  Winston the energetic basset hound is looking for the perfect home.  Winston is 60 lbs, 3-4 yrs old, loving, stubborn, and has some specific needs as laid out.  Things Winston loves: going for car rides, exploring the neighborhood on long walks, playing with dogs his size or larger, a male human companion, chasing squirrels and bunnies out of his fenced in yard.  Things winston does not like: smaller animals - dogs, cats or anything else, KIDS, BROOMS, and the vacuum.  Winston is very food motivated, sits for treats, and picks up on things quickly, BUT can be very stubborn in the true basset way!  This is where a male owner comes in.  He seems to like them better, and listen better to a male person.  He will challenge anyone for the alpha position if you let him.  He knows several hand signals, as well as the corresponding verbal command, such as sit, down, stay, and come, even though "come" is the hardest for him is true basset fashion.  He needs to be leashed when not in his fenced in yard, which is a requirement for him.  Does Winston sound like he would fit into your life?  Winston cannot be adopted to a home with children of any age.  Winston is reactive so an experienced owner is a must. His vaccinations come due at the end of June 2020, he is neutered, chipped, and his adoption fee is $300. show less
