About Niles

Niles is an approximately 9 years old & weighs 11 pounds. He is a wire-haired mix. Found as a stray. Initially careful around new people (especially men) he warms up and settles in once assured there is nothing to fear. He gets along well with dogs; not sure about cats. Displays a sweet disposition, despite the snaggle tooth smile that implies otherwise. Crate trained for during the day but prefers to sleep with his people. If you'd like to meet Niles, please fill out our online application.

Ragnar is a strong Viking name which suits him well, as he survived a collision with a car at 6 mo of age! Now, as an owner surrender he continues to overcome his obstacles, and he is thriving in his foster home. He accepted guidance and now gets along fine with the two cats in his foster home, as well as the 4 year old child. He even shares his water bowl with the cats! He loves and needs attention. He shows some anxiety towards being left or ignored, understandably!. He gets lots of freedom when someone is home and sleeps crated at night without any messes or destruction. He does good on trail walks and runs, is house trained, crate trained, knows sit and down pretty well, has never dug out or tried to escape the yard, doesn't chew up things, loves squeaky toys and chasing. He has mixed reactions to dogs and people. He is very friendly to family members (6 months to 60 plus in age) when they visit my home. He is a ferocious barker at the fence and when the doorbell rings. Overall he is very sweet, but he can be sweet and friendly or growling/barking in new environments and situations. He needs someone who will spend time with him, working on commands, and socialization with other animals and people, even teaching tricks to challenge his brain. He is not a dog to let loose in a dog park just now, until he gets a little more comfortable and trusting in his new life. Are you looking to be this dog's everything?
